Why negative Miagsy?

I can't for the life of me get it, I just see a lot of stuff online about expecting more transfer activity etc. It might not be a majority but there are definitely some comments online. Some people believe that we have a lot of "conference" players and would have like us to go out and replaced a lot of players. But for me, it's the group of players that got us up and they definitely deserve a go at it. People can't quite wrap their heads around that although some may have signed in the conference they have proved quite substanically that they are more than that. We are still expecting 3/4 new faces according to DC today (i'd be happy with two, a new goalkeeper and a new centre midfield player are essential - we could possibly do with a back up LB and maybe another forward but that would be being fussy.)

I agree, with the keeper and the Central midfielder. Never been a fan of wholesale changes every year. Since the Bosman ruling we have done it way too much and experienced our biggest ever slump. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

Don't get me wrong fellow gasheads I trust Clarke but I wouldn't mind a few being shipped out and a few coming in. This league is tough. We need creativity and a keeper. Bit of a " glamour " signing wouldn't go amiss neither.

Each to their own philosophy, other than keeper and Central midfielder. Maybe a defender I'm not too sure about Hartley yet but will wait and see on him. Think we definitely need an understudy to Brown at some point just in case as well.

To be fair the last time we were in League One the top half was arguably the strongest its been in recent times, and we only started really struggling when we tore apart the core of what made us successful over an 18 month period. We did that in favour of 'quality signings' on decent wages - didn't get us anywhere.

I think people panic too much, I reckon this squad is more suited to the step up than the 2007 squad was. Don't think we'll pull up any trees this year but I can see us competing long term, safe mid-table or even top half would be brilliant given where we've come from.

Maybe a central midfielder is needed, if this Boateng signs it'd be perfect. Goalkeeper can wait for now I think, although it wouldn't surprise me if DC thought differently.

We have more than enough to compete.
I've been spoiled these last two seasons tbf. I'd like us to have a crack I I personally think a couple of decent signings would see us right up there.

Who knows, I can't really gauge what quality the league is. So many unknown quantities.

We'll give it a good go, whatever happens. At least we know that under DC. Not expecting a huge success tomorrow but it'd be nice to start well!

Deserved win for Scunthorpe although disappointing to lose from a one nil lead. I don't think it was 3-1 game but pushing forward late on left us open. Very clinical finishing from scunny. Our changes didn't help us. Scunny #'s 10 and 8 stood out the most for me.

Great deserved win for us, delighted for Van Veen that he grabbed a goal.

Disappointing result but I won't panic. Scunny are a good side and I expect the next month or two to be a learning curve to some extent!

Think 3-1 was a bit flattering but Scunny were definitely the better side.

That result absolutely flattered Scunthorpe because as said above, I don't think we deserved to lose 3-1.

We had the measure of Scunny for 60 minutes and looked comfortable, even though we never really looked like scoring again. Unfortunately it changed from out of nowhere and the Iron started playing like a team worthy of their tag as one of the promotion favourites. We were hit by three good strikes (Mildenhall could and should have done better with the last two IMO, though he wasn't helped by the defending for the second goal) and ended up losing the game.

It was a harsh lesson for our lads but I thought they more than competed with a good Scunthorpe side and can take encouragement from that. I'm still hopeful we'll have a decent season, but we will definitely improve when Darrell gets the three or four new signings he wants through the door.

Not starting Jamie Ness made the game a lot harder for us, he came on right after our equaliser and he was the main reason we won as he's miles better attacking wise than Bishop. Having two very similar centre midfielders playing in Dawson and Bishop caused us trouble in the first half as they sat so deep meaning that our wingers weren't playing as wingers. Ness coming on meant Adelakun and Morris could play as actual wingers and Morris profited from that with his goal.

Couldn't make it to the game, but I am a bit surprised we won as we did. That was quite a second half turn around. Rovers fans - from your perspective, why the turn around? Was it Scunny or Rovers induced?

A bit of both. We were edging but defended a corner poorly, not clearing our lines, then your lad 10 (who I thought was a threat and if you can get madden in with him soon you should be right up there) buried an thunderbolt. There was a bit of a momentum shift but it was helped by DC taking off Sinclair instead of Ollie Clarke. We made another mistake in centre midfield sloppily gifting you the ball but you punished us clinically. We had one decent chance after that which flashed just wide but couldn't get fully back into it. The third was last kick of the game and don't think it happens any other time, we had just pushed too many forward, but we didn't create enough, made some sloppy mistakes and you were very clinical, deserving the win

Our number 10 is Kevin Van Veen, he unfortunately struggles playing up front with Madden due to how similar they are. They both like to be the goalscorers and the main men so they can't play together really. They both need a foil who does a lot of the work for them which is where Tom Hopper comes in, he makes our team so much better.

What did Scunny think of us? I don't think we played aswell as we can and I'd like us to move back to 4-4-2 as soon as we can, so that Bodin can come back into the fold, but I don't think we embarrassed ourselves. Can we compete at this level?

I thought you matched us in the first half but we sort of took over in the 2nd. However, we're a solid side and we have very good home form, I think you'll face a lot worse sides than us. I was most impressed with the ginger guy partnering Taylor up front and the CM with a beard and long hair. I thought your worse player on the day was Lockyer as he struggled to deal with Hopper for most of the game. Overall you didn't embarrass yourself and will do quite well this season.

It's always interesting to hear the views of other supporters on our players. Every opposition fan rates Sinclair (beard) and whilst he is a cult hero amongst Gasheads, we have got used to his all-action displays and now notice that he is often caught out of position and not great when in possession. I like him, but I'm not sure he'll be particularly great in League One. I hope I'm wrong though!

Locks was playing well in the first half I thought, though you were a lot closer to our defence in the second period when you scored your three goals so he may not have impressed. He was always going to struggle a little in the second half as he was on a yellow card and with the way the referee was awarding you some questionable free kicks, he couldn't risk making another tackle.

To say Van Veen's goal was well hit would be an understatement.

No idea what happened in this one, was at a wedding but just saw the highlights and sorry but Mildenhall has to be getting to that 2nd goal

Is Hartley going to be a regular starter for Gas or do you have injuries? IMO he's not sharp enough to make the step up.

He'll be a regular starter unless we get another centre half in before the end of the month.

He looked okay on Saturday considering he's had barely any pre-season action and isn't fully fit, so I'm hopeful he'll prove to be a decent upgrade on Tom Parkes. Having said that, I am wary of his lack of pace against strikers who are able to turn and run in behind.
