Honestly I think it will be a mere formality for you. I'll put it like this I've stopped viewing you as a promotion rival and am more viewing if as you doing us a favour now if you can beat any of Northampton / Mansfield / Tranmere / Newport. To miss out now you'd have to go to relegation form for the rest of the season and if you keep hold of Cadden etc that is simply not going to happen.
Agree, I know I would be the same if it was Vale but realistically it would be a huge balls up, 30 points from 23 games probably does it for them. FGR are as good as up, and probably 95% chance they win the title now.

Just shows what a reprobate he is, he goaded the fans after he scored and he got it back plenty too which is all good, you should leave it once game is done though

Next time Mansfield come across him he’s going to get a record amount of pies and yorkie bars lobbed at him now
Horrible prick he is. Maybe he thinks he has made it now he scored against Man City.
Also, how bad is Mansfield if a Swindon player is calling it as shithole?

He is what he is I guess... I just hope he doesn't score and do it down the Hamil End of the Paddock on Saturday because I would genuinely be worried one of our idiots would do something stupid and we could do without that kind of thing happening.

Whisper it quietly but I think that after so many false dawns this is really going to be it - the Year of the Stag™.

ps -though they won't be winning the title as that's going to FGR but I don't think the Staggies would mind that as long as they go up.

There were plenty of Pools fans on Twitter mocking Rhys Oates for his life choices as Mansfield slipped into the bottom two while we were sat in a playoff spot with one of our best ever managers at the helm. They are not looking even slightly foolish. It's a long old season innit.

Not played in the league for 6 weeks if we manage to play our game next week, now 5 games in hand too.

Teams who have fixture pile ups are rarely successful. Unless we’re lucky, our season could end up petering out.

Exeter are going to maul us.

They've already beaten us 4-0 once this season, can see a repeat of that
I'd settle for 1-0. We really are a bit low on confidence.
Still, nice to go to a home game. My first since December 7th.

Depends on this month goes in the market, always feel like we are one or two injuries from disaster again to be honest.

Absolutely no chance we do anything this season now. Partly because of this fixture pile-up, partly because we can’t keep a clean sheet away from home.

Cook isn't fit to start. Pereira is still ill which means Gilliead will be starting. Our faint hopes of scoring a goal suddenly got smaller.

No they didn't. So yes the same back four/five that was run absolutely ragged by Mansfield.

Think it was O’Brian? Had a disaster of a first half in particular, although Rhys Oates is giving every defence chaos at minute to be fair.

All the back 3 Centre backs were calamitous in the first half and looked scared everytime Oates or Bowery came towards them! That was O'Brien's first league game and he quickly realised you have less time on the ball than in the Premier under 23 league as he improved second half. It didn't help that he kept being given underhit passes that put him under pressure. Hopefully Tuesday will be a good learning excercise for him.

The players, individually, are good enough. There is a lack of organisation on how the defence is supposed to operate. It was a defensive shambles v Mansfield on a pudding of a pitch. There was always the worry that winter pitches would put the kibosh on Garner’s tippy tappy nonsense. There’s absolutely no way we’ll finish in the top 7 - which, tbh, I’m not that downhearted about. The club is waiting for the end of the season and the lifting of the transfer embargo instead of paying it off now. That’s fair enough, I reckon.

McKirdy has just signed a contract extension which is good news. The first club where he’s been ‘loved’ according to him and he’s never been happier on and off the pitch. He loves rattling opposition fans - plays better when getting some stick. Too many bland players about and it’s - occasionally - fun to have a ‘character’ about the club.

The pitch wasn’t in great nick on Tuesday or Saturday but wasn’t quite as bad how Garner liked to make out, but we all know football managers love a excuse.

That's one of the things that grinds my gears about Garner. He does like a whinge about things - mainly refereeing decisions. Every team in this division gets poor decisions made about against them. I really hate when managers use officials as excuses, I guess this is to take the heat of the players or something but to me it's a bit pathetic and I'd rather him not do it.

The refereeing is extremely poor in this league, but as you say it is the same for all teams. We've had some shockers this season but equally we have had some red card decisions go for us which were borderline. I think I'm right in saying that we haven't had a penalty given to us this season, which is very unusual.

We haven't no, especially surprising as I think we have one if not the highest in terms of encroachments into the box in games.

Long overdue!

It was quite revealing how after our game he complained about the two penalty decisions (both of which were obviously correct) and most Swindon fans told him to stop moaning! Haha. Surely if the fans aren't buying it, it's time to get a new excuse?

Our fans (me excluded) are beginning to lose patience with Garner, off the back of a ropey run we had before the enforced 'Covid break' before Christmas. His style of play is possession based, which is very slow and monotonous and he also doesn't appear to have any plan B, although I do think that's slowly changing as we have tried go to a bit longer to Simpson and McKirdy recently. Also Anthony Grant who many see as the answer hasn't been getting any game time since he was called up for Jamaica earlier this season. I personally thought Grant was one of our weaker players so not sure he is the deity many believe he is. Rumour of a falling out behind the scenes perhaps. Also we do tend to have a particularly whiny fan base that are very vocal on Twitter (who isn't I guess?)

I'm willing to see this season out as a bit of a 'free hit' under the new ownership. I think we probably need to be patient and allow Ben Chorley to bring in new recruits this month as our squad is very light. I do like Garner's approach but it's far from perfect. Defensively we are a mess and I do agree with fans who say we don't have much tactical fluidity which might bite us in the arse second half of the season now teams know how we setup and play.

I think McKirdy v Covolan might have a bit of spice to it tomorrow. Vale fans are going to be on McKirdy's back and he is going to love it. Whether that spurs him on to play out of his skin, or just be a bell end and get himself stupidly sent off is another story.

A statement I can only agree with unfortunately. Mansfield bang in form, Swindon patchy is where we currently are.

It’s just how it is, doesn’t mean we’re better overall etc etc just a game on the night.

It’s one of the qualities i love so much about nigel clough in that he’s honest, whereas like any other fan the world over i don’t like hearing about how we lost a game he’s honest and says it as it is, without coming up with a list of dodgy excuses.

i mean, i’ve heard worse than those listed here, like trying to claim an event in a garden where you took your own booze was a work meeting….

Thats nice of the cardiff bay tramp! allowing 500 to attend outdoor sporting events from tomorrow, but i think its to late for the club to arrange a ballot of season ticket holders so behind closed doors it is then.

You could still see why you have such great away form though, Swindon just came across like a side that can easily go up and and grab a goal hence why everybody knew we needed a third.

The decision makers in Wales and Scotland really made a cock up didn't they, can only presume they listen to the nonsense on twitter.
