Yeah that would have been a howler from Tomas Holy in our goal had that stood, he was perfectly positioned behind the initial shot and should have easy been able to just catch it. Sometimes you get the rub of the green in situations like that because nobody was expecting the ball to even fall for Lapslie, the linesman probably saw the shot come in and thought his job was done.
How’s Holy getting on so far? Still very popular amongst our fans.

The officials were particularly pathetic Tuesday night, I’m still getting over the referee letting one of your players being subbed off pull up his socks a dozen times on his way off.

I quite often read the opposition forums and comments like these are par for the course wherever you go, probably also the case on Bantam Talk whenever you lot get beat too. Just good to see that we're not the only ones dismissed as a poor team whenever we beat someone.
Yes it’s always the case, I don’t know if it’s just default tribalistic football fan reaction or fans are correct and teams do just look crap due to the level we are at. Probably both.

We definitely made those type of comments against Colchester, although league position would say we aren’t far wrong. Barrow did look good though, everything you want at this level; quick, direct and well organised. I’d like to think some of our fans praised them but I can’t remember most were probably more focused on our own display which I suppose again is natural.

Interesting reading the Tranmere forum, almost all comments go along the lines of “Bradford weren’t all that, which makes the result harder to swallow”. “Average Bradford” etc …

I give you the likes of FGR, Vale, Cambridge, Exeter, Cheltenham - and countless others … all absolutely dog shite but somehow got promoted from this league.

Farmer’s League - any squad of players who simply refuse to roll over and have their bellies tickled, will do alright. That’s basically how we’ve started. I’m not suggesting we’re unplayable, nor do we have any divine right to be challenging this season, but based on years of watching countless dog shite teams in this league turn us over, then go on and achieve promotion, I think I can safely predict that we don’t need to be playing Barca-esque football to achieve anything this season.

I honestly don’t know what opposition fans expect. It’s division four - on the whole, shite football - we just hope to be a little less shitter than the rest.
The way we play. opposing teams will always get chances but so will we. On that basis we will win some and lose some but should provide some entertaining games

Carlisle are the first team to stop us scoring at home for 23 games. We did actually score as Lapslie goal was wrongly disallowed for offside but if we won that 1-0 ‘Robbery’ comes to mind.
that must have been around the time we beat you 1-0 away last season?

Whenever I'm at a match with someone who hasn't been to a lower league game before, they're always astonished by how poor both teams are, to the point that I get annoyed with how often they mention it. From my perspective, the Premier League and International Football that they watch represents the pinnacle of the professional game and the standard I'm used to seeing at Brunton Park is more like just the norm for the majority of professional football. I guess Premier League fans will see the standard of football at the top level as being the norm. Probably they aren't the kind of people posting on lower league message boards though... that's probably just bitterness, that 'we lost and don't want to admit the the opposition earned it'.

If your referring to the Total Tranmere forum (which is renowned for it’s whinging posters) there were just 6 negative Bradford posts out of 120.
Didn’t attend the game myself so can’t say too much. From what I saw of the game on ifollow the Tranmere performance wasn’t good and they were two really easy goals Bradford scored.
They say that a sign of a good team is winning when not playing particularly well , if that’s any consolation to you.

Think you have one of the best strikers in the division but sure he wouldn't have enjoyed the tactics you used on Tuesday.

Don't think we played too badly. We were in control for 70 mins and as the home team, you should expect at least 20 mins in the ascendancy. You scored a well taken goal that the ref should have prevented(see Tranmere twitter) and had a very good headed chance. Our goalie didn't have another shot to save, yours did.

Reminded me a bit of when we had Vaughn at City.

Yes, Hemmings is a better footballer than Cook no doubt, but we don't really use him effectively.

Blatant push on Critchlow two passes before Tranmere's goal. Takes him out giving Hemmings plenty of time and space for his goal. I think if both sides took all their respective chances, then we'd have still come away with the win.
It is the timing of the chances that is crucial,

We had two or three very good ones in the ten minutes after equalising, and if one of those had been scored it would have been a different game. However, we were not clinical enough.

Another day you bury all those chances, just like we've done in our last two matches. Always more of a worry when you're not actually creating. As you said, you've got some genuine quality in Hemmings, which was evident from the goal he scored. Was disappointed with Turnball if honest; He always impressed me when he was at Salford. That Simiue (bloody spelling), however, was excellent as he had Jake Young in his pocket.

Yes, Simeu looks a decent prospect. It was the first time that back three had played together, which is probably why there were gaps all over the place and we conceded two headers.

Mansfield are the first team this season to keep us from scoring and only the second to keep Dennis from scoring, perhaps you should give yourselves a pat on the back for an excellent rearguard performance :fish:

as mentioned, if you had a decent forward uptop you’d have won, but thankfully dennis was playing.

As ever, he didn’t score against us. bless him.

Cook is much better in front of goal though, Hemmings is so good at leading the line but lacks that instinct from my viewpoint watching both anyway.

Just seen our highlights from last night.

Genuinely staggers me how a professional footballer can miss the chance that Kristian Dennis missed. I’d back anyone on this forum to score that easily.

Shocking and really costly.
That miss was nothing compared to Hastie's miss at Colchester.

Any news on the Northampton travel bod? As posted on our guestbook, apparently he had a heart attack and ended up in Kingston Hospital. Such is the NHS in London, closest hospital 10 minute walk away but he ends up a 30 minute or more drive away.

Jim runs one of our fan buses. He collapsed in 'Spoons in Surbiton (he had not been drinking). It was over an hour before the Paramedics arrived and took him to Kingston Hospital where he was kept in for 'tests' etc for four nights. He was released yesterday (Saturday), unfortunately not in time for the game. ;)
Thanks to all who expressed their concern.:thumbs:

The goal was onside too, much like the goal we scored against carlisle that went over the line at their place last season. but wasn’t given haha.

I look forward to the officials assisting us next time we play carlisle.

Quite, or away at swindon last season.

It’s football though, these things happen and i’m sure we’ll get similar decisions our way at some stage.
