Could be worse, could do a Peterborough and wait until everyone arrives before calling it off. At least it’s early enough for anyone to turn around in good time. Rather have got the game out the way as last thing want is having to reschedule multiple games as we hit the back end of the season but it is what it is.

Guess will give the Crewe v Wimbledon game a watch instead then.

Accrington 15 years back was the worst, was in the pub next to it about to head into the turnstiles when someone came in and said it was off! Had stayed over as well! or Exeter just as the bus arrived.

Luckily we do seem to see that less often these days, hopefully Colchester can sort their pitch out in the summer, as we know from experience its a costly job (looks great now though!)

True, but a lot will have paid for trains and one guy is coming in from Denmark!

Irrelevant of if there's been a bit of rain, there's no excuse for having this called off. I bet there won't be any other game called off.

It means we have to cram more games in at the business end of the season.

I'd be fuming if I was down there, especially as there was literally zero indication of issues. Absolutely pathetic from Colchester in my opinion.

Gutted for him, see he had not long landed at Gatwick. Is he down for the weekend or just that?

Just that I think. Another guy on our forum says that he lives 15 minutes away from Colchester. It's been raining on and off but not heavy or prolonged.

To be unable to get a pitch suitable for football in fairly benign conditions is absolutely pathetic.

Another guy in Cambridgeshire (not a million miles away from Essex) said they had a dry day yesterday and have had a few showers today but nothing heavy.

I find it hard to believe that a pitch can become waterlogged like that. Colchester called for the pitch inspection....they should be fined.

This was a photo one of our fans took driving into Colchester this afternoon. Said there was no rain south of Cambridge. How on earth has the pitch become unplayable? I wouldn't put anything past the Cowley sisters to be honest.

I don't think one club has suffered as much as Colchester have from all the development work that's gone on around their stadium. I haven't been in years, but I remember when it was just their stadium in that area, they never had flooding or pitch issues. But since all that new stuff has popped up next door, it seems to have had a catastrophic effect on where the water drains now. Grimsby used to be the standard bearer for drizzle causing postponements, but now Colchester seem to be the worst offenders.

Expecting a few changes for us, Williams moving to left wing back and O'Riordan in at centre back. Conway pushed up into midfield with Tabs and Holicek and Tracey in for Long up top.

Don't particularly agree with that midfield, don't wee the point of put Conway in there when he's doing well at wing back and we've got perfectly capable centre mids in Powell and Sanders.

If that's the starting line up, it's a perfect example of how academy players get far more favourable treatment than those from outside the club. Under no circumstances should Sanders be dropped, especially no in favour of a square peg in Conway or 2 underperforming players in Tabiner and Holicek. Just feels very disjointed. Let's see.

Just seen our line up.
No Nevitt, no Dack, two teenagers up top and another at the back.
I will be amazed if we don’t lose by 4 or 5.
Shit, I am beginning to sound like Hellogregory.

Crewes pitch looks like it's really cutting up in various parts. Not much if at all has happened outside of a Crewe goal off a decent freekick.

Stressful half hour wait for the 1st goal. Could easily be our only one.

Worst it's been for a few years and I think the extreme weather of this winter has taken its toll on it compared to the last couple of seasons.

Not done much yet we're winning. Wimbledon huffing and puffing but not doing much. Suicidal defending from them for our goal too.

We started decent but quickly fizzled out. Then we've gone one up.

Morecambe look so, so bad. Based on viewing so far tonight I see no way out for them in terms of escaping relegation.

Cue comeback win tonight.

4 changes and it shows. Seems a strange game to rest players for but maybe we fancy Bradford on Saturday more than this one. Got a lot of cavalry on the bench though.

Turns out Nathan Lowe was quite important to Walsall

We had the same a couple of years ago, the drainage had completely packed in so the club had to spend a lot of money to fix it as the pitch was just a bog by the time winter would come around.

I'd say you remind me a lot of watching us. Very organised to the point Wimbledon have barely laid a glove on you outside a very speculative attempt you'd expect any keeper at this level to stop. Not exactly thrill a minute going forward though.

Been the only side that looked like scoring for 35 minutes and then Gillingham whip a speculative low ball into our box with little to no danger of it causing any problems and Doug Tharme slices it into his own net. 3 points for Gillingham as we don't do comebacks. They're already doing exactly what we did at their place earlier in the season and running the clock down.

We've been fucking wank.

Just stopped defending past 2 games. What was a rock solid back 3 is now full of mistakes.

Need to get McEntee out of midfield as well. Headless chicken.

Well can't say Wimbledon haven't deserved that cos they've had a lot of the ball but utterly pathetic from Conway then slicing that ball in the air only for it to come right back at us. Neufville not closed down and then Marschall looked like he dived over the shot.

Can't see us scoring again in the second half. Been yet another tepid performance from us and only scored due to terrible set piece defending.

If we don’t turn this around (which we won’t) then we are in full on BELEAGUERED mode and the gtfc Twitter hashtag will be a laugh tonight.
