Why can't you just show Lincoln City some respect and say they were the better team and Lincoln had more players missing than Sunderland! Why do Sunderland fans have to find excuses whenever they lose and never, ever credit the opposing team as if it's Sunderlands define right to win every game because they have a large population?

Maybe your manager shouldn't go round fighting people, might be a starter.

As for the bizarre aimed at Wigan dig, if teams playing us keep getting permission to cancel by the EFL and then we on several different match days contact teams to try and rearrange and they point blank refuse to and the EFL offers no help by saying they don't have to rearrange games if they don't want, how exactly are Wigan supposed to play games?
The hate for Sunderland sometimes from supporters in leagie one is unreal, we do not have a divine right to win every game at all. So many fans go on our forum and assume that we are this bunch of arrogant supporters when half the time it’s probably just idiots taking the piss or keyboard warriors who probably never go to the match never mind the Newcastle fans infiltrating the forum as pretend Sunderland fans. However we were crap on Tuesday, totally disjointed due to injuries and covid the team looked shattered in hindsight we should have called it off but fair play to the club. The result could have been different if Maguire was sent off for his challenge on ten mins but the ref bottled it (btw the refs in this league are the worst and i know all of you will agree) and Maguire pulled off a great individual performance, coupled with Lincolns tactics which were spot on and our sending off the right team won the match in my opinion, fair play to Lincoln with their depleted team. Now please you imps go out and do the same to the other top teams. I’m just worried streaky Lee’s going on his next streak. Unless we beat Accy.

Oh btw Rotherham are winning this league.

Haway the lads.

It's a really good hotel, we go there at least once a month for meals. Jewel in the crown for Fleetwood , got married there, been to wakes and countless other events. Be happy to meet you before game and buy you a pint

That's a kind offer but I'm with family otherwise I would have enjoyed meeting you.
Good luck for the rest of the season, after today of course :bg:

Cheers mate, even if we stay up I don't expect an to be playing you next season. You can win every game for the remainder of the season, just give today a miss
Btw make sure you have a walk along the prom and go up the Mount, pass the Marine Hall, it's a beautiful front at Fleetwood and I'm not biased

Could be goals galore then - we've only had one fit CB the past few weeks although we've got Sherring in on loan now. Remains to be seen if Bonner will trust a very inexperienced CB pairing of him and Okedina though. Iredale may continue there.

Patch em up and go again for us, we don't really have anyone fit to rest those that are playing. Wes unexpectedly played Tuesday night so presumably won't be in the team tomorrow. Smith is still suspended I think.
Smith only had a one game ban so he’ll play today. I expect the same team that won at Newcastle apart from Smith in for Knibbs.

Our side is very gung-ho.

Scully back and he joins Cullen, Whittaker, Maguire and Fiorini in forward areas and with Bramall and Bishop at full back, this definitely seems a case of accepting we're not going to keep a clean sheet so we're gonna try and score 3+ instead!

We’ve gone with Sherring straight in and I assume our defence all shifted across so Okedina now at right back for Williams. Otherwise, same team as Newcastle with exception of Smith in for Knibbs.

Edit: Sherring may be right back actually.

Change of shape too, and best half we have put together in months. Not perfect but very promising. This shape suits the current players we have so much better. It didn’t work last season because we didn’t have the personnel.

Get in. 2-0. More direct today instead of aimless possession and best performance in months so far! Change of shape made us much better defensively which is what we need if we want to get out of this division in next few years. Attacking side will get better with confidence but very happy with the effort today. That gk looks much better than Dixon

Got rid of that tippy tappy shite we have served up all season....Defence looked confident in front of our new ill named keeper. Lee mom controlled the midfield....Young Morley had a good debut. Speak quietly get Fossey signed up and bring in Dempsey and the forward we are supposed to be in for this week and its happy days.

It’s Bodvarsson the striker we are in for. He’s 6ft3 so I think this could be a permanent switch in shape and style. Fossey was brilliant. Had someone saying on Twitter he thought were still playing a 433 today and Dion Charles was left wing… what do some people watch??? It was a clear 3412/352/532… however you want to write it on paper.

Great game at LNER today. Cambridge started the brighter, but for the rest of the first half it was all us. Bramall and Scully terrorised the right back and it really was a case of when our first goal would come. 2/3 nil at half time wouldnt have looked out of place.

2nd half Cambridge closed that loop and grew into the game/ dont know if we were a bit tired! You can see they are a well drilled side. Last 15 minutes and Cambridge were looking threatening and frustratingly scored from a free kick.

Strange to come away from a defeat feeling positive, but we more than matched them today and could/ should have scored. Good game!

That's a very fair assessment of the game. Our usual right back was ill so shifted a CB across to RB and you absolutely exploited that first half and could have been two or three up.

If we got to 0-0 at half time I fancied us to get something and on reflection 0-0 would have been a fair result. To get all three is huge for us after the week we've had and the games we've got coming up.

Lincoln are in a false position and will be absolutely fine once players return from fitness.

For us, I've no doubt we'll get to 50 points comfortably and finish mid table. I love this team with the never say die attitude and what a week for the club!

Massive win after being on the back foot for the last couple of months. Don’t think it was particularly deserved but that’s how it goes sometimes (I’m thinking of Wigan and Sunderland at home end of November). The attitude of this team is just exceptional.

Fossey was brilliant.
Good to hear. I first saw him play against my son's school team in Jersey when they were around 11/12 years old. He was so much better than everyone else, it was incredible to watch. Fulham snapped him up not long after when they sent some coaches over as guests at the island's annual football festival.

I've followed his career ever since. Really looked like he was heading towards a premier league career, and also be a big part of the US Men's team as well. Sadly he's had three bad, long-term injuries over the last four or five years that have really set him back. Here's hoping his luck has finally changed.

A decent home win v Oxford, they were the better team for most of the first 20 mins and were looking very dangerous on the break, but we were the first to score and that changed the game a lot, as they couldn't just sit back and hit us on the counter.

They went far more attacking towards the end as they were 2-0 down, but we restricted them to mostly shots from distance, few of which were much cop.

Obviously it means nothing when so many teams have games in hand on us etc, but nice to be top, however brief it may be. Oh and 52 points? Surely safe from relegation now. Woop!

Up with until around the 60th minute, it was all Rotherham, dominant in possession, winning all 50/50 balls and we all felt it was only a matter of time before Millers scored
Then Fleetwood slowly started to get into the game.2 good subs, Pilkington and ,Matete but still would have been happy for a point. Fleetwood defended superbly and Cairns was'nt really called on to make numerous saves
The Millers are not top for nothing so good luck to them in their quest for promotion. On this performance, and on the back of a few other recent games, the Cod's have given themselves a fighting chance of staying in league 1

Gills must be gutted they only scored one in that first half. We were as shit as the week before at Cheltenham.
Why do we always concede first ?
good second half though. Be lost without brayford at so many times this season.

I still think Rotherham and Wigan will go up automatically- Sunderland do not have that killer instinct to see teams off so will see them fall away. Wigan’s games in hands are will be crucial for the run in.
Wycombe will run them close too I think, and if they don’t make the top 2 will win the play offs.

You should definitely be proud of your team, considering how under the cosh you were first half and go on and win it, takes resilience and detemination. Very clearly well run, everyone knows their role. I do think as we were tiring and the introduction of Hoolahan around 60 minutes really helped to swing the game. We started with our strongest XI that we have available to us. All the best for the rest of the season.

Really enjoyable game today, not a lot in it at times but we defended well and our first goal was a thing of beauty, Thought Lee was exceptional today, Fossey brings great energy and Charles and Morley will just keep improving with games. Trafford it should be said played well in goal, i am not a fan of young keepers and time will tell but fair played to the lad today. Ipswich had a decent following but never heard a quieter set of away fans.

I agree with the prediction for automatics, I see Rotherham as being a better version of us, scrappy, physical but effective - whereas Wigan have a ton of quality in their side (as you'd expect with their resources).

The only caveat with Wigan is that games in hand does not equal points on the board, especially if that means fixture pile-up.

Sunderland also have top quality players (as they bloody well should for what they can afford) but I think that club is just poisoned by the weight of its own expectation - yes of course any team has idiot fans who think the world's going to end after a couple of results haven't gone so well, but that tendency seems to be multiplied in Sunderland's case, and the longer they stay down here in the filth-ridden doldrums, the worse it gets.

I'd say any of the sides who are in potential play-off contention could make a fist of it, we'll see how it goes.

Yep, Bonner timed that sub very well as the game was becoming stretched and he still has such great quality on the ball. You're still the best side I've seen at the Abbey this season. All the best for the rest of the season.

Very happy with that. Much better today in terms of being more solid, didn't look like getting bullied for once. Changed to a back 5 & played into the space in behind which worked well today. No over playing & making stupid mistakes like we have done the past few months. Ipswich aren't a team to test you physically though they seem like us in how they want to play all tippy tappy possession football so have to see if this shape helps us against the more physically demanding teams down the line. New signings all did well especially Marlon Fossey who looks like an absolute gem.

Lost at home to MK. Didn't see it but sounds like the obvious difference is up front. We don't have the players to finish chances and MK do.

The Cowleys need to pull a rabbit or two out of the hat before Jan 31. If they don't then we know that we've binned off this season and already planning for next. No way can we challenge for play-offs with this attack.

Rubbish today and had we not been playing the worst team in the league, I don't think we'd have won. Have to be better on Tuesday or Morecambe will punish us. Need to get as many points on the board as possible before our horror February when we play all the top teams.
