Outside of missing your best chance Wilson barely touched it. Pretty similar to us starting with donkey Piggott up front on his own; both players very limited in their movement and exceptionally easy to mark out of the game.

Thought Sang and Jones looked okay at their respective fullback positions but never really found the confidence to push forwards. The overall lack of intent and aggression for a side in the trouble you’re in was baffling to me. We were the flattest we’ve been pretty much all season, played a half at Wigan with 10 men and frankly were there for the taking.
Wilson needs someone to play off but is lacking confidence also, he was decent at the weekend for instance but we got the best out of him when he was up front with Proctor in the promotion season for example, up front on his own he isn't going to be that effective as he has no one to support him, this is why Uche getting crocked for months has killed us as when Uche and Wilson played together we picked up our 3 wins since December and scored 2 or 3 most games for that 5-6 game spell they were both available. Uche takes the battering and holds it up, occupies defenders, Wilson has the space to operate, Chislett the same as it worked a treat. Our fans bemoan Uche for his lack of goals but we scored far more when he played than not because of that.

Jones is more of a centre half playing wing back which makes us more solid in a back 4, but Sang is a midfielder by trade or at a push a RWB but he has largely been awful for months, our only right back/right wing back broke his leg in November and despite setting on a wing back system we didn't sign any in January which is bonkers, not to mention we dont actually have a true LB/Left Wing Back at the club!

The fans who watched it suggested we fought a lot more last night than we have been (all be it showed some Saturday) but you've nailed the anger the fans have with our side to a tee... we've had worse sides technically but this one just dont fight enough, lack battlers which you need in our situation... its where the fabled D***head test comes back to bite you really as we are far too nice. That said I think partly our confidence is absolutely rock bottom.

A thoroughly deserved draw for the Gas tonight who looked a very useful side. Fleetwood never really looked like scoring and Tbh did some outstanding defending at times. An opportunity wasted to reduce the deficit with Salop thrashed, Cambridge getting walloped Burton losing and Vale just getting a point. As so often happens a team tightens up the the back but then can't find the net ! Keep right on to the end of the road ( Harry Lauder, even I wasn't born when this record came out, in fact my parents weren't even in their teens .
Its funny how fans see things differently. I thought we were awful, got caught trying to play out from the back and just lumped it all night.
I thought you looked more like scoring too.
Awful commentary from Lee Thorpe to match the quality on the pitch

This is the beauty of football, whilst we're in good form, we've all been there where that good form ends in a shock where a team gets a win from nowhere.

Tonight will be a tough and tight affair. We're down to one CM and without the grafters in McGrandles and Hamilton. Barnsley gave us freedom and space which meant we didn't need those grafters and allowed Mandriou and Moylan to run and attack them. Cambridge won't, if they make it nitty and gritty in the centre of the pitch and win the midfield game, they'll get something. Mandriou will need to be disciplined which is something he has lacked since coming to the club.

Hopefully for us next Saturday!...cant see it though we are struggling to score now

I think it's just a massive lack of confidence, we've lost so many games that we didn't want to go for it because we feared we'd be caught out. Frustratingly, we've played a few teams recently who have been so passive but have still beaten us. We couldn't have asked for kinder opposition in the past few weeks.

We definitely lack fight though. I don't remember us putting in a bad foul for ages. We should have had a stonewall penalty last night...not sure why it wasn't given but our players should be straight on at the ref surrounding him but it was all a bit half hearted. We need to win by any means, even if that means cheating and shithousery. Every other team does it in abundance....we've seen some of the best proponents of it.

Thought Orient looked tired. They played really well a few weeks ago and probably should have beaten us by more but last night they looked as bad as us. Only getting a shot on target near the end of the game against our bunch of dossers is pretty poor. Whole thing felt very flat considering there's still a chance of the playoffs...seems like you've settled for a safe and steady finish.

Evans bingo in full swing - denied a penalty, poor ref, dominated the game, missed chances, opposition hardly in their box etc etc.

A ban for Piergianni coming up as well for a forearm smash that the ref missed - did he mention that...?

Yes guess if it was anyone else you might have sympathy but not him .

I presume without all these dubious decisions they would be ten points clear of Pompey? Funny how he never mentions the ones that go for him..

Yeah, Evans can just fuck off, Stevenage have been pure thugs both times we’ve played them this season.

It’s definitely a way to play to get a team to punch above its weight, and 100% we’ve been guilty under Ainsworth of maxing out the dark arts, and using spoiling tactics, but we’re not up there with Stevenage.

Obviously i've only seen them play us, but they weren't anywhere near peak Ainsworth or even Evans.

Relative to the rest of the division, they're up there but in the bigger picture youse were playing on another level.

I dont think it was. Second half perhaps your heads had gone and i think by the end they just wanted to get back on the coach. Our play in the first half was what got us into that position. You say we never got out of first gear...so wrong that is the best we have played by a country mile all season.
We played well first half Saturday but not at that pace. We simply have cut out the tippy tappy shite that restricts us. All season our play has been knock it around at the back until Santos plays it wide or into midfield.
Now all our play is directed through Sheehan and he is that good with the ball at his feet that as soon as the opposition press he finds gaps and exploits the space way better than santos
Sheehan is to us what Bannon was to Wed last season
In fairness, if you play a team of petulant footballers that decide that they frankly can't be arsed any longer to play then you're bound to think that. I would think that too without context.

The context of the performance (not that it matters - We got deservedly spanked) is much greater. But my word, we just let you do whatever you wanted with open arms. I'm not convinced some of them care all that much either. It was far from normal for a performance to showcase that level of arrogance and I'm not being facetious either, sadly.

Three game ban for Piergianni, although it reads as though Stevenage appealed the length of the ban, deeming it 'excessive'.

Looked about right to me. Disgraceful behaviour, probably egged on by Evans

I see Shipley's red was upheld. Knew that would be the case, why did Hurst waste money on appealing it?
