All the years of nothingness are worthwhile for nights like tonight. An amazing atmosphere. Some proper celebrations (that second goal in particular) and a massive win.

20 years a Towen fan. Closest we’ve been in that time to a promotion or anything to remotely celebrate. One more point. One more.

IMO Barnsley win the playoffs. Thought they superb first half and to say 2-0 flattered us at halftime is an understatement. Albeit we were excellent ourselves second half.

Oxford thumping Cheltenham is worrying, given how easily the Robins beat us.

We don’t really want our ‘festival of football’ and end of season awards next Saturday being dampened by us getting an absolute dicking.

That win for Accy has put them right back in the mix, great result.

Just got home, what a day. Dismantled a team who had won 9 straight games at home. We've finally outgrown this league. The atmosphere in the away end was incredible. The stewards letting us storm through (along with around 100 others) for the second after we'd gone out for an early HT pint was class. I have a video somewhere. Championship here we come, I can smell it. Thumped Boro, thumped Barnsley; bring on the next one.

Barnsley for me in the playoffs.

Can’t see anything other than Plymouth & Ipswich home wins on Saturday, which seals the deal for both. Could both get 100+ points as well.

Thankfully Peterborough have Barnsley away last game of the season.
Yes, a Barnsley team resting players for the playoffs. I wouldn't rely too much on that. You have two games against teams with nowt to play for. You should win those and not have to worry about Peterborough.

Its three points, isn't it? Though you'll get them on Saturday.

It was a very different performance from us last night compared to Saturday.

Saturday has the making of an extremely heavy day. Mad to think that we have 95 points and still aren’t home and dry

Whilst 9 times out of 10 you smash us, we do not seem on the beach yet - so we might have an ace up our sleeve here, there might be some nerves and perhaps it might get to you. We could nick a point if we play out of our skins and your players have an off day.

Yeah by no means is this a foregone conclusion. Hopefully now that you guys are safe you may simmer down a bit. There will certainly be nerves on Saturday but hopefully the players will be full of confidence after the last 4 games

I expect you to shove us right in the corner given we will take sub 300, as you I am sure can sell the tickets fast. Should be a good atmosphere and I’m looking forward to it. Haven’t been for a few seasons. Could be a great atmosphere if you win. But then, we could draw or win and if Wednesday lose you are up anyway.

3 points. Get in.
And a clean sheet which is surely worth another point please - especially when you have shipped 76 this season.
The amount of times this season we've struggled or not scored against a terrible defence is crazy!

And let’s be honest our defence is terrible. 76 goals shipped. Good job we can score at the other end. We seem to have turned into your bogey side.

That's a relief, was getting a bit worried we might not be able to get a respectable result on Saturday if Oxford were suddenly that good.

I take it your lot were on the beach then?

Oxford weren't great to be honest - their first goal came as we were having our best spell of possession in the first half. We were definitely the masters of our own downfall.

not good enough last night, just looked it up, we have dropped 20 points against teams in the bottom 8, not really good enough this season, but better then last, so if we don't get through the playoffs, next season hopefully will be us kicking on

Looks like we'll be playing at least some of the development squad players for Saturday's dead rubber v Chelts - which I don't have an issue with, if you can't give fringe players some minutes in a meaningless clash, when can you see them in the environment of proper first team football

But it does mean that CTFC are even more likely to romp majestically home with the points, especially if they want to make amends for being shat upon 4-0 midweek by Oxford.

Charlton Away, over 800 heading down for this one and Vale still have work to do to secure League One status, a draw does it so wouldn't risk too many changes at this stage.

Haven't met that often and haven't won since those Halcyon days of the mid 90's when Tony Naylor scored a memorable hatrick (and Celebration to boot!). What we'd have done for a Tosh Naylor these days!

Wilson, Worrall and Harrison huge doubts, may we see a return of Ben Garrity?

Would stick to only enforced changes so

Politic - Think we need to see how he does in a suitable system and position.

If we can hit the levels of the Ipswich and Rovers performance we should be competitive and set up a good game, be interesting to see how much Charlton want it after a poor performance last weekend.

Draw would do me to secure our status.

Worried about the referee Carl Brooks though, he allowed Bristol Rover's winner to stand despite a clear shove in the back and was the referee who totally lost the plot in the Tranmere game in the behind closed door's season where both sets of fans were scathing! Gave 2 penalties that never where, sent Joyce off and missed a foul for one goal!

Hopefully regardless of the result, other things happen to secure safety and we can start to prepare for next season, if we lose and the 3 results go against us then nerves will start to kick in.

I've heard Vale have written to the EFL demanding a full close-season clearout of all refs at this level (apart from the ones in charge when they won) and getting in a new batch. That'll sort it.

I know there does seem to be a theme of us moaning about referees but it isn't just when we lose....I've seen a number of match threads on One Vale Fan where we've won but talked about the referee more.

In all seriousness, this season has been the absolute pits for refereeing standards. It was bad in league 2 but this year has gone up a notch.

The best refs are those that don't feel that the game is all about them. They're just there as a conductor, like the Asian chap we had the other week...not just making decisions to feel like he was involved.

I'm really relaxed and just looking forward to the weekend in London. Absolutely zero chance of all the results occurring in order to relegate us.

Charlton might be a bit more up for it as they've had a few shockers recently and will want to go out on a high in their last home game. We've got a few key injuries (again) so it'll be another makeshift side.

I'm hoping we can get a draw but all depends on what sort of team we can field.

Not so relaxed, I think MK will beat a weakend Barnsley who will be resting for the Play Offs and Oxford will beat FGR so reliant on Cambridge not beating Stanley which is a real 50-50 game.

For Vale to go down they need

To lose to both Charlton & Plymouth
Cambridge to beat Accy, Burton & us
MK to beat Barnsley & Burton
Oxford to beat us & Accy

Cambridge would also need a 9 goal swing.

That’s literally 9 results going against them for it to happen, which in short, ain’t gonna happen.

It's also goal difference they have to make up, which I think is 9. We'd have to have a couple of stinkers and they'd have to have 3 perfect results and that goal difference is a lot to make up over 3 games when they've been pretty shite all season. Mk dons also have to have a perfect set of results and make up 2 goal difference.

I get that it's the default setting for Vale fans to fear the worst case scenario, but we're 275/1 to go down for a reason.

My family are all Leicester fans and they were 5000/1 to win the Prem!

9 goals if you consider it over 5 results, you get a 5 goal swing so only take them panning FGR 2/3-0 and us losing to Argyle 2-0 and its gone.

Its the Vale thing to worry, we are also writing off us getting a point which I would hope we can find 1 or 3 from the last 2 if we perform, especially if they want AC to get the job.
