Stockport County.
County very bright the first ten minutes, Connolly absolutely rattled the crossbar from distance which bounced off the line. After that we were abysmal however and were asking for a battering.

Second half we just shaded it, but damage was already done.
It was Collar who hit the bar.

Birmingham have the best squad by a million miles but have placed it in the hands of that Carl Davies who nobody has ever heard of. Unless they are clear by New Year I could see a change.

If they hire Challinor, they won't drop another point all season (except when they visit us, obviously, as Challinor can't win at our gaff).

Surprised how chilled out Darragh MacAnthony is about the start from Peterborough; I know it’s the youngest squad in the EFL or something but they still spent a lot on transfer fees, they need to do better.

Politely you are talking utter pish - he is doing fine, we are going okay, literally nobody is unhappy overall with Davies.

and its Chris Davies. Not Carl.

Blues 2-0 Stockport

Controlled performance especially in that second half where we contained county who were more ambitious.

First half really good press that caused them problems, pleased for May to bag a couple. Shame Louie Barry didn't play as was interested to see what all the fuss was about...

Anyways on to Barnsley Saturday.

Thought it was a bit bizarre Posh only managed one shot on target and then saw Poku was subbed early - take him out of their side and they've got very little.

A really bizarre season from Posh, I know they're missing the guy from Altrincham they signed but their two main sales in the summer were defenders so something has gone seriously wrong and I'm not sure the blame is all at Ferguson's door. It doesn't look like their recruitment has been up to scratch at all.

They probably need to buy another couple of our academy players!

Too early to make that conclusion IMO.

I think Conn-Clarke is fit but not ripping up trees yet as only seems to make fleeting appearences off the bench or not at all.

Still at the embryonic stage of Peterborough’s 8 year life cycle.

1.0 - Hire Darren Ferguson. Lose in/Miss out on playoffs.
2.0 - Sell best players for big money and reinvest in more talent. Anonymous L1 season.
3.0 - Turn into Brazil. Win promotion at a canter. Extend Darren Ferguson’s contract.
4.0 - Get relegated from the Championship with a whimper. Minor squad churn.
5.0 - Win the L1 playoffs. Extend Darren Ferguson’s contract.
6.0 - Start badly and sack Darren Ferguson. Scrape survival in the Championship.
7.0 - Hire Gavin McCann. Sell best players and reinvest in more talent. Get relegated from the Championship with a whimper.
8.0 - Lose in/miss out on playoffs. Sack Gavin McCann. Head to 1.0 to restart cycle.

That is absolutely classic, but also very true!

I’m sure MaCann and Ferguson swap places more regularly than that?

Who can say? They’re essentially Norman Osborne/The Green Goblin at this point, and who knows which is which?

Back to reality last night following the Birmingham win with our defeat against Blackpool.

Outrageous wind assisted fluke free kick from inside our own half from Benning early on, the type you see in Sunday league where the ball bounces on the edge of the box and flies over the keeper. On top and swarming all over Blackpool for 25 minutes, then they got a foothold in the game.

Half time and our usual concession early in the 2nd half with Pierre finishing like a seasoned striker into his own net, followed by a good strike after we gave the ball away in a dangerous position. Never really laid a glove on them for the rest of the game.

Ainsworth will learn a lot more about his team from last night than the win over Birmingham. Seems to be a lot more effort and urgency, but difficult to see where the real quality is in the squad. On to a must win game at Cambridge now.

I know they had quite a few players out, but I was expecting a bit more from Blackpool. They were terrible first half and don't think they'd have scored without our helping hand. Saw the game out with the kind on antics that an Ainsworth team would be proud of.
