I would expect an incoming very soon too. It's clear we really miss a spark of imagination and guile that Clarke brings, we're crying out for it. That loss last night though is surely a bit of complacency, defence and midfield not doing the basics right and challenging for 2nd balls with desire and fight, I feel they probably needed that bit of a wake up call. Shit timing to get a result like that though as teams are bunching up behind us in flying form, and I think if we let the likes of County/Stockport get past us, the way this league is this year, it'll be really hard to get back front
We have to play Stockport and Notts twice, Halifax, Wrexham, borehamwood and Bromley once again (Halifax, Borehamwood and Bromley all away from home). Those are the games we need to be making sure we don’t lose. A loss last night and then a win against a promotion rival is the better way round, we just can’t afford to lose both those sort of games. Panic mode from a lot on Bobs Board but it’s a long season and we were always going to lose another game.

Chesterfield will win this in the 94th minute with a goal from Asante.

Nothing was ever more certain in the entire history of football.
Please stop putting posts like this out into the universe with the express intent on the thing you are predicting not happening. It's very problematic and in all honesty, quite triggering to read back when you've just been on the end of a right royal Devonshiring.

Give over, they're not even as good as Grimsby
Interesting comparison...
I thought Grimsby moved the ball around really well in the second half, in fact I think they set a bar for us, with their movement and the speed and accuracy of their passing. There. I've said it. :ds:

What a game of football that was! A very close game the we just about deserved to edge. Grimsby the best side we've played, home and away. :ds:

Thats a mad record isn't it? to be fair we should have beaten them but they hit us with 2 quick goals as like last night and then we got a man sent off on the half hour mark. They then got a breakaway winner after we'd pulled it back to 2-2.

They should have more than enough to be beating the clubs around them. Devonshire is too concerned with issuing Devonshirings.
Wasn't it a Dibble disasterclass as well?

If Chesterfield fans are feeling bad today, have a look at the results on 11th Dec when we lost at Torquay. Halifax, Chesterfield, Wrexham, Notts, Bromley, Boreham Wood and Solihull who were well up there at the time all won (D&R didn't play).

Oh and the same could happen again this weekend if we lose at D&R.

I believe so.

In the most recent FiD podcast I was interested in the bit when Andy Dibble said he cried after watching his sons mistakes in the Fylde game the other season. Me too Andy...
It felt like he threw that game, I've never seen a goalkeeping performance that bad before or since.

Same. Which is quite unbelievable when you consider some of the goalkeepers we've had over the years.

Anyway... exasperated sigh.
Being on the receiving end of a Devonshiring is never a pleasant experience but sometimes once just has to lie back, think of England and accept that some things are inevitable. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, day turns to night and Alan Devonshire beats a promotion contender. We tend to bounce back well and after our only other defeat to Woking we went 13 unbeaten so whilst it was a shite evening, 3 points at home to Aldershot on Saturday and things are looking good again.

One in potentially today, 1 out that might cheer a few up (unless you're from Scunthorpe :D)

There's some panic stations on BB which I think is a tad crazy. Let's hope people are more rational in everyday life than they are when it comes to Town.

We we should have gone onto win it and all the momentum was with us but for some reason we just didn't go in for the kill like we did at Barnet, they were there for the taking and Kings goal on HT should have set us up nicely.

Something about these Tuesday night trips to back of beyond that seems to rattle us, not sure what it is but having been at both Woking and Maidenhead i'm glad our next 2 midweekers are much closer!

Must win on Sat, we bounced back well after Woking, we will do the same again. Fully expect us to get a striker in this before Sat, and maybe one out ;)

Apologies. I genuinely did think it would happen though. I do know what you are going through today however because we got Devonshired 2-3 at home 18m or so back when we had half a team out with Covid and thought we could still win. Should have known better against Devonshire! Should have known better.

Cardwell?
Don't think so. He trained with us, had talks last Friday but for whatever reason it's not happened yet. Not sure why as was told it was pretty much a done deal. Was interest from a few others I think though

EDIT: just need WNM post, probably explains it.

Was told it was a striker from a fellow NL side, wouldn't suprise me if it was Kelly from Maidenhead knowing us

If you wouldn't mind taking Kelly before Saturday that would be great. Dude seems to like scoring against us. And Barrett for that matter.

Honestly wouldn't be against buying these tinpotters who score against us, then letting them rot in the fucking reserves. Having the temerity to score against a proper club indeed

yes that would be very James Rowe. I’d like Campbell from Woking.

Whilst I'd like a striker with Rowe being out for how long, I do think an attacking midfielder, especially one who can chip I'm with goals, a much more important get. JR doesn't seem to think Khan is it to me, and Mandeville blows so hot and cold

Aren't we suffering enough?

Please elaborate though what shite are we signing? We can only afford to pay Conference North wages so hope he's cheap.

If you are suffering now, could be more Payne coming your way.
The saddest part of this all is he will be our best striker.

Our current striker we offered out for free in summer and not a single club wanted him.

Really hope you're right, attempting to watch him play football is an awful experience.

Give over, they're not even as good as Grimsby, they were very one dimensional against us and a couple of their players weren't of the quality you might expect. As tonight confirmed, they're not as good as everybody else seems to want to believe they are. :ds:
What’s your dimension then? Score a lucky goal on the break and then park the fucking bus? cos the two times I’ve seen you this season that’s all you’ve seemed capable of doing

Yes, I took the bait… the Devonshiring has led me to this

Makes sense for all parties, he ain’t getting a look in here these days and with the new incoming signing and the lord returning to fitness very soon he’s going to be dropping even further down the pecking order
