With our poor defence and lack of midfield I’m fearing an absolute drubbing.

Get your life-savings on Accrington.

We're in a spiral and it's going to take something huge to change it.

You wouldn't if you saw our games at Tranmere, Swindon or Morecambe.

If we didn't have Jatta and Jones both out I would fancy a drubbing too , you wouldn't be able to handle them both.

However unless old man McGoldrick or Crowley can pull another rabbit or two out of their bag of tricks we are likely to struggle.

Our defence isn't poor but we are lightweight in midfield if Robertson doesn't play. He's vital but another one coming back from a long lay off. Pass master Palmer isn't anywhere near to his dominating best dictating the play so far this season sadly.

Jatta and Jones both likely to miss our game next Saturday?

Jones yes - we’re waiting for a scan but I think he’s going to be out for a while. Jatta could/should be back, he’s back in proper training this week but has had a concussion and then a reoccurrence of it so we need to be really careful.

Looking forward to this one, picked it out as a Tuesday night train up and stay over job. Going to be, err, pretty merry by kick off. I fancy us despite the injuries - Williamson isn’t known for his pragmatism and trying to play us at our own game so soon after taking over would really risky.

Grimsby at home on a Tuesday night is the very definition of a game to slip up on. Last few weeks have seen us play several sides at the top of the table and we've done well, but this is likely to be another challenge entirely. Grimsby not in bad form at all but seem to be a bit all or nothing with their results, so a draw is probably unlikely. In the last 6 table a few posts up they've beaten 3 sides in the bottom half and lost to 3 sides in the top half so that bodes pretty well. Fingers crossed we keep up the momentum of the past few weeks and can put in a good, winning performance.

Squad is looking really quite good at the moment with players returning from injury all the time and nothing (touch wood) new for the physio to deal with from the last couple of games. It's very hard not to be confident with the start we've made and the defensive record, but I genuinely think this one will be trickier than a lot imagine.

Bonus game for us really , 5 /6 best players injured with no keeper (assuming we will change that with an emergency keeper ) .

Don't expect much against a strong Gills side but we will come and have a go + keep the ball on the floor so might be a decent watch

Still going to be missing 8-9 players but quietly confident Lindsey can work miracles and get us at least another away point following the Bromley draw.

Potentially very good news for Vale.

Jones without doubt based on comments from Maynard.
Jatta I suspect very likely.

Excellent news for us, if so. Very dangerous players and key for you, I'd say.

That doesn't mean it's not going to be an extremely difficult game though.

It won't be extremely difficult but it could have been if we were near fu strength and firing on all cylinders. That's a beautiful sight alas thuggery sometimes wins

I fully expect to see our traditional slump after a good win. Defeat Doncaster next week lose 3 nil at Cheltenham. Defeat Bradford and get a kicking by MK Dons. It's the Harrogate way.

That's what I'm going for because we're absolutely shite and Notts County are the best team in this league.

We should be playing in the National League North. A guaranteed win for County.

Has anyone said why Gordon wasn’t in the squad yesterday? If it’s not an injury it’s truly baffling.

No way to dress it up really, the best player in the division being out for 3 months is a disaster. Everyone’s going to have to up their game in his absence and not have games like the last 2 where we don’t take our chances. Also think Maynard’s got to adjust, sticking Tsaroulla on the right and asking him to do a Jones impression isn’t going to work.

Derek Adams getting his first win of the season against us. So predictable.

Of course not. But, as we've nobody remotely as threatening and having lost our star striker in the summer so if they don't play goals look hard to come by.
Jones won't be playing and I doubt Jatta will either so you've a real chance to pull away from the bottom on Tuesday.
If we sneak a win I'd be really impressed because although the defence and midfield have enough cover to cope we have very little goal scoring threat.
1-0 Carlisle.

Why on earth did we make him walk round the pitch with a broken leg?
I actually think we'll find a way without him, not ideal but it's Jatta that concerns me. High scoring Number 9s are quite rare, certainly for us until the last few years.

Morecambe are by no means classy and if Jordan Slew is getting minutes you're short of decent players but Adams has them working really hard. They pressed us for the whole ninety yesterday and we were fortunate to get the point.
The table says they're crap but they looked a whole lot better than Accrington or Grimsby when we played them.

I understand the frustration and disappointment but I don’t think the injury to Jones was thuggery.
Seemed like a pretty innocuous challenge. Borne out by the fact that no one expected the injury to be as serious as it is.
Anyway, I wish him a speedy recovery.

It was quite a heavy tackle but I don’t think it was even a foul to be honest, just one of those things. He definitely gets constantly targeted, though.

Maybe so but I still hope the player involved goes home one day to find his missus in bed with a random tradesperson.

I thought the tackle on him was a yellow, a bit similar to the Gibbs-White tackle against Brighton, you can get the ball and still get penalised - but it wasn’t anything more than that or a ‘shocker’ by any means. I think the frustration is more the accumulation, he’s been targeted no question and very rarely when he gets passed people do they just trip or grab him, there’s players that choose to just scythe him down (‘if I’m getting a yellow I might as well make the most of it’) and law of probability is that one of those is going to end badly at some point.

Not quite sure what I expect refs to do other than continue giving bookings - I guess if it’s really deliberate with no attempt to play the ball maybe it should be a red (like the one on him against Fleetwood near the dugout for example).

I didn't think it would be given as a foul but he did steam through him rather than just nicking the ball off him. It happens but our skilful players have not been protected by the refs much this season.
I'm all for a physical game, way too many soft to non fouls were given last couple of seasons but some of these refs don't seem to know when players are going beyond the tackle and trying to take the player out. The scissor tackles are dangerous, everyone knows why, your ankles get stuck and the momentum of a twelve stone defender sliding through bends them the wrong way and we've been on the receiving end of quite a few this season.

Sorry I unintentionally mislead. I wasn't talking about that challenge , my view of it is the same as Jacobs. Hard but fair. My thuggery comment is a little tongue in cheek cos this is lower league football but the treatment he's received from opponents this season has been shocking. The lack of protection from officials has been bordering on criminal.

Last season he was expectedly targeted as the most effective and best player in L2 but so far this term it's been noticeably worse. I can easily imagine the pre match team talk of ever single side is to leave something on him, go in hard early to try and get him off his game. Gives you a fatter chance of winning so why wouldn't you but it becomes tiresome and disheartening to watch it happen week in week out.

I don't blame the managers or the Hoe Average thug sorry players , I blame the officials. They do nothing.

Nobody is surprised he's now out for a likely lengthy period. Was only a matter of time. Shame cos L2 needs flair and skilful players to entertain
