I was more confident going in to the Barrow game than I am about tomorrow’s one, despite us only conceding two so far I think there will be goals (as the Grimbo fans said as well).

I agree with Stocky he looks good.

The League Two Player of the Season award and record breaking 24 (Twenty Four) assists last season appear to back that assessment up.

But obviously compared to your average L2 quick winger with a bit of skill and little end product he's definitely not fouled or targeted more than them. Why would he be?

Although I never saw Myles Weston fouled much.

Does seem a bit OTT, its a squad game so its up to the rest of the County squad to step up and cover him, if they are good enough for promotion it will be down to the squad not one injury, the sides that go up usually are the ones with the best depth or insanely good luck when it comes to injuries, we had arguably the best player in League One last season, who when recalled within two months broke into his parent clubs side and was almost instantly made Captain in the Premier League yet still got relegated so its about the squad.

It will be a test for County now of their promotion credentials but surely can still be up there without him.

In terms of being the best player this season time will tell, early to make that claim I guess, George Byers from our point of view is right up there, walks into any L1 side IMO, Bradley Dack has done it at a higher level with similar injury problems to Jones for a few years, then you have the likes of Molyneux and Wyke who will come into that debate.

That all being said I'd rather face County without Jones than with him as he is certainly in that debate.

Oh hang on so it wasn't even a foul? That makes that Twitter post even more odd. Is this not simply a case of injury prone player gets injured again. Same as we've just had with Vernam. Out for four months but there wasn't a minutes silence before any kickoffs this weekend about that.

Wingers/flair players generally do get booted, Chislett for us often does and at this level "letting them know your there" is probably more common, lets be honest its been that way for decades. Jack Grealish a good example even at the top level. Accrington did it to Benicio early doors last week and he didn't fancy it and went off at half time.

Jones is a bit like James Wilson when he was at Vale, excellent footballer, probably should be at a higher level but had multiple injuries in the past so when targeted its likely unfortunately that knocks/injuries will play a big part.

Oh yeah, I'm not denying that Jones doesn't get lumped. He almost certainly does and more than most like the Notts fans are saying. Perhaps the knocks and kicks have been chipping away at him slowly. That's football though, isn't it? You can't go around insinuating you should get preferential treatment because you're a) a technically skilled player and/or b) you've had injuries in the past. It's harsh on Jones and it's harsh on Notts and like most have said I wish him a speedy recovery. That Tweet though goes in the tinpot thread.

Unfortunately not, I've been waiting on a pretty important medical procedure and the NHS deciding to book me in for the morning of one of the only two Town games within an hour of where I live which was nice of them so I had to choose between waking up in severe pain down in my nether regions and feeling somewhat confused and deflated...or missing watching Town and having the operation!

Depends how often you watch his side play, and the amount of heavy challenges he endures. It's been clearly explained earlier but a few are still missing the point. It wasn't about the one challenge against the Gills (I thought hard but fair) it's the sheer amount of hard challenges fair or foul and the inevitability of a long lay off.

I blame those 24 assists and awards like season. Good player.

Why is a positive message to the club fans from the player odd after getting results of scans confirming a fracture of his leg?

Hope Mr Vernam also recovers well.

Totally agree it's squad quality rather than individual player quality that gets you promoted.

Although it will have a detrimental impact to performances (as he is often marked by two creating room for Mr Crowley and others) we can probably handle the loss of JJ but not the loss of our best player and best forward (Jatta). The combined loss results in us being half the team as we have seen in recent matches.

Jodi Jones is undoubtedly a very good player at this level and,perhaps understandably, idolised by Notts fans. His statement suggests the idolisation has got to him, comes over as egotistical in the extreme.

Tricky players do get caught, it is the nature of the game, but players have far more protection from the interpretation of the laws than they did 40/50 years ago. It really was a free for all back then. Not saying that was right but players aren’t allowed to show aggression these days

I’ve never seen a player targeted like Grealish was when we had him on loan as a kid, Stevenage actually appeared to be trying to kill him one game.

Has anyone said why Gordon wasn’t in the squad yesterday? If it’s not an injury it’s truly baffling.

No way to dress it up really, the best player in the division being out for 3 months is a disaster. Everyone’s going to have to up their game in his absence and not have games like the last 2 where we don’t take our chances. Also think Maynard’s got to adjust, sticking Tsaroulla on the right and asking him to do a Jones impression isn’t going to work.

Is it that bad? I've seen us win 4 or 5 times there, all be it since the turn of the Century and think we won 3 times in my first 3 visits there which probably pushes up the total!

Been thew last 10 times actually, W4 D1 L5 so not too bad. Had the infamous Micky Adams transfer listing the squad one though!
