We should have got something from the Rotherham game and I fancy us to get a point at home to Wigan if we play like we did Saturday.

Sunderland to follow this one so we could do with a point tomorrow night.

Good test for us at PAFC.

Always good to remember that win, lose or draw, an individual result vs the league leaders means nothing, and it’s overall consistency throughout the season that determines how you do in the grand scheme of things.

That said, would be a good morale boost if we can get the win. I’d take a draw for sure though.

Portsmouth for us.

We have injuries to contend with (just for a change). Don’t think there have been many seasons like this when we have been carrying so many knocks to an already smallish squad.

Add to that quite a few of our signings just haven’t made the expected impact and January looks like it’s going to be very important for us.

I'm hoping we're more clinical than last week and can build on Saturday's win.

We're not the same team away from home as we are at home though, so I certainly don't go into this game counting any chickens.

I imagine we'll take double digit numbers, Anything more than 100 will surely be seen as impressive given we'd struggle to take that many in the first place, and this is our 3rd visit this season, and second on a Tuesday night.

Morecambe.

We really need to keep the momentum going, we are playing well and full of confidence but they will be buoyed by that last gasp win at Fleetwood and we’re looking a bit short in defence.

Going to be tough but fancy a hard fought 2-1 win.

Shame this isn’t on a Saturday. Would have sold out no problems, as it is there’s 650 heading up. Oh well, couple of days off work and should be in Lancaster for just after 2pm.

I think one goal either way in our game. Neither side have been scoring to conceding many recently.

You'd fancy a Cowley side to be a bit too strong and powerful for our lot, though. It's been a common theme since Appleton arrived that the likes of Wycombe, Rotherham, Portsmouth (under Jackett) etc are teams were struggle with.

If we approach it with the same mindset as we did Ipswich and Wednesday then we’ll be fine. It’ll be very hard to get the ball at times but sit in, let them play in front of us and hit them on the break/set pieces. If we play with the mindset we had against Lincoln etc then we could get thrashed.

That’s not meaning to be negative, it’s just recognising where we are as a team - it’s about nicking points here in there in these games, getting draws out of defeats and wins out of draws etc.

Sheffield Wednesday for us, and for all their good form the amount of draws in that run is probably making me over confident. We tend to do better against the sides that actually try and play instead of stick 10 men behind the ball so considering it's at Hillsborough and I doubt they'll play like Doncaster or Shrewsbury did, I'm expecting at least a point.

I think Bonner got the tactics wrong against Lincoln. You can never question the effort and endeavour of this squad so let's hope Bonner get's it right and we make a game of it.

Bolton’s injured ravaged squad v our injured ravaged squad. I still expect us to lose as we are away from home and have zero goal threat.
This is what our likely match day squad should be:
Dahlberg
Knoyle Williams Anderson Rowe
Galbraith Close Bostock
Taylor Okenhibirie Hiwula
Subs: Jones, Seaman, Owolu, John, Smith, Dodoo, Cuker.
Out are, Dahlberg, Williams, Close, Bostock, Okenhibirie, Hiwula, Seaman and John.
We don’t have a strong squad when they are all fit but it’s getting ridiculous now.

Sounds like we're having fairly similar seasons, and we're going into this one with similar form. I'd happily take a point.

Albeit not on the above list, our game at home vs Fleetwood is on, bar any further complications (ie. not being able to sign a keeper or more positive tests (none when checked today).

With the Covid affected players and injuries/other illness we have 13 players out including 3 centre halves and both senior keepers.

So our right-back, Sam Long, will likely end up at centre back and we'll have a makeshift right-back or an Academy player making a debut. Robinson could play an Academy centre-back but that would leave a very inexperienced pairing, with the only 1st team fit centre back, 21 yo Luke McNally in his 1st season at Lg 1 after we signed him from the Lg of Ireland Premier last January. McNally wasn't used last season and this season has started 6 Lg1 games with 1 as a sub, 2 Lg Cup games and 2 Pizza Trophy game starts (both times he got sent off).

To be fair to the Cowleys they have got us playing on the ground more than we ever did with Jackett. We don't really have the players up front to go with an aerial attack, although we do try and target smallish full backs with long balls from Bazunu.

Perhaps you could sign Charlie Cairolli as a like for like replacement for Westwood!

You mean the Keeper that has more wins in only 4 games against you than Swindon have managed in 10 games against us.

So Oxford have all caught Covid.. Wasn’t it Oxford fans (and Robinson) who lost their sh*t on here because some team caught Covid last year before playing them?

Still has 2 clean sheets out of 4 games against you and has only conceded 3 in total.

He got stick last season but he has had loads of praise in his time at the club. A very good no.2 keeper. Unfortunately our no.1 Jack Stevens has Glandular Fever but is on the way back, albeit he won't be rushed back.

We tried to get the Wigan game on but literally had no keepers and couldn't get an emergency loan in time and had the courtesy to let Wigan know what was going on as soon as we knew unlike what happened last season.

We will be playing, assuming we can get a keeper, to our own detriment with 7 1st teamers testing positive for Covid (including both starting centre halves, plus a back up centre half, and leading scorer Matty Taylor). We'll be playing a poor midfielder at right back (where he is even worse) or an Academy player there, unless we keep Sam Long at right back and give a debut to an Academy player at centre back to partner back up CB 21yo Luke McNally, who is in his 1st season in L1 after joining from the Lg of Ireland Premier. The defence will be backed up by an Emergency loan keeper so won't have any time to get to know his defence.

The only area of the team not affected in strength is midfield where we can play Herbie Kane, Cam Brannagan, Marcus McGuane and James Henry.

This will be the same for the game vs Rotherham on Saturday where we will get hammered. So we are doing what the club/Robinson said last year and getting on with it.

yeah, but . . .

:fl::fl::fl:

We don't find such events by Swindon that funny anymore as they've been a regular event over those 10 games.

Did Vigouroux ever finish a game against us that he started for you?

I’ll be surprised if you don’t score a couple. Moore was hopeful of getting a free agent centre back in before tomorrow but it looks like it’ll be too late. We have looked better going forward lately, young Corbeanu and Kamberi have been brilliant in the last few games. Gregory may start after getting half an hour or so on Saturday as well. My moneys on a score draw.

Yeah, but the big difference is that Vigoroux left years ago. You’ve still got your clown.

What about the previous 30 odd years? Always baffles me how your 6 in a row has become 10.

I never said we won 10 in a row. And to take it back 30 seasons, the record is: Oxford wins 13, draws 4 and 9 Swindon wins.

Vigoroux is close enough, timewise, to be at your club that he overlapped with Eastwood in the same games.
