Huddersfield dropping off after a decent January window on paper has surprised me. LO will probably go on another run after defeat. I won't fancy playing them in the play-offs.

We sold our best defender in Jan to Oxford and didn’t replace him, since then 3 long term cb injuries, Dion Charles has been crap and Joe Taylor injured after one game so not seen any benefit from that window.
The injuries we are getting are unreal, way more than a usual amount all teams have to put up with but even so that’s 5 defeats in 8 now and some abysmal half arsed performances thrown in, it’s getting a bit toxic right now, Mark Cartwright and to a lesser extent Duff are getting pelters.
Next week you will bully us.

I’d have taken that on the chin better had they beaten us 11 v 11 and there wasn’t a poor red card decision, rarely complain about refs but this one was a weak c*** all round.

Wellens taking Kelman off as soon as it happened summed up the overall thinking was quickly turned to the weekend.

a poor red card decision

After seeing this angle of the red card tackle I can deffo see why it’s been given.

Going into a completely unnecessary challenge in a downwards motion a foot away from the touchline when Iwata was going nowhere is just asking for trouble. In the PL that’s a read card through VAR if the ref doesn’t give it.

If it’s not dangerous it’s at least brainless.

Bet it doesn’t get rescinded.

Off the ground = not in control

Studs up contact = endangering an opponent

Red card.

I watched it live and though the Birmingham commentator thought it was harsh i thought it was a sending off, seen players sent off for less many times, though I have seen many players not sent off for more, but that's just the way it goes, it won't get rescinded as mentioned, The atmosphere btw was so flat and such a stark contrast to Bolton's game with Orient on Saturday when the fans were bang on it.

Never a sending off but when your luck is against you its against you.
Wellens has his hand forced with Kelman
Had to play Attack against Defence from there on in

Dont see you getting any higher than you presently are, injuries, cup games and suspensions are starting to hit you hard.
I dont mind Wellens, he gets a tune out of what he is dealt.....Seems like you are getting new investment
Re-Group in the summer and go again next season with a stronger squad

From the first pic it looks like both feet off the ground, it never looked like that in real time
Seemed very harsh, but on these pics i can see why it certainly will not get over thrown if appealed

Not a red, his foot couldn't be lower when the challenge is actually made. He's up and back down by the time he actually gets near the player.

You can see why the referee gave a red with how he lunged in, made it look a lot worse than it was.

One of those where we went along with the home crowd, not a red for me - needed some common sense.

It's a fair comment. Our atmospheres for most home league games this season have been flat in the most part.

I think it's because of two things.

1. There is so little jeopardy in our matches against most teams that it's hard to get yourself up for it, especially when almost every team turns up to St Andrews not wanting to do anything other than park the bus and be happy coming out of it only having lost by 1 or 2. When teams turn up to play football, and it's more of a contest, then the fans respond in turn. Wrexham, Newcastle, Stockport, Peterborough stick out in my mind as being good home atmospheres.

2. Our style of play, although technically excellent and controlling. isn't exciting. We are patient and wait for the opposition to make mistakes rather than taking potshots when half an opening appears. It obviously works for us, and I think it's the right thing to do. Trying to pass or shoot through crowds of 11 men camped out in their own penalty areas won't have brought us the same number of goals as our patient approach has.
Not many of the games we play are open at all, and when they are we score goals. Wigan (A), Cambridge (H), Wrexham (H).

A lunge, studs up. Potential ankle breaker.
Red card for me.

Red card all day in modern football. Sam Greenwood got a similar one for us against Blackburn. Pointless area of the pitch too. Most footballers are so thick.

The actual contact in the challenge is fine but you can't lunge in like that and get away with it, so it was always going to be a red. What doesn't help either is he's tried to toe-poke the ball away, which gives the impression that he's gone in straight legged as well.

Reminds me of that Lincoln one against us a few weeks ago, doesn't look a red on first viewing but there's enough there for it not to be overturned.

File under marginal call rather than bent ref though, either way.
