Start of the Sunderland slump which has been a common theme in Lee Johnson's management career?

They have been poor tonight. Had a lot of the ball, passing it around their own third but nothing up top and soft at the back.

We’ve only had 2 defenders on the pitch all night, I really thought they’d have troubled us more.

We are dreadful, in fact I would say this is as bad a side as we’ve had since 1997, luckily Crewe are just as bad

Might as well make Jackson permanent manager after that performance. No way we would have come back from 1-0 down under Adkins.

One word, exceptional.

Who to pick out? Burgess, Morsy, Celina simply too good.

Wycombe came out like a house on fire and deservedly went ahead, after our equalizer though it was a complete dismantling, special mention for Walton's point blank reflex save at 3-1 in the 79th, that save doesn't belong in League One. Aside from that 5 minute period, we defended resolutely.

Thought Wycombe fans could have done a lot more to help their team, we were defeaning all night.

COYB's.

Worst, you should have won tonight. Missed some good chances, then crazily decided to sit sit back and play for a draw in the last 15 minutes.

Kyle Knoyle what have you done!

The perfect away performance from us tonight. We soaked up 20 mins of pressure, and then scores a goal that will be goal of the season no questions asked. Once that went in there was only one team in it. Back to back wins and clean sheets will do very very nicely.

That win for us tonight was truly amazing given the side we had out. But we were well worth it, I couldn’t be prouder of this team.

Also, Ben Worman’s goal is incredible and definitely worth seeing.

Great win, great performance, half-strength, youth product with his first league goal and a goal of the season contender at that, 10th in the league, love it.

Tough run of games now but ultimately we've done what we needed to over the last 4 to give us a solid cushion going into that run.

That’s why we are shite, can’t defend, can’t score simple chances and no midfield

I was excited with his signing given how he played for you last season, he’s utter garbage for us. He can’t defend, gets caught out of position all the time, doesn’t beat his man, his tackles tend to be lunges and he can’t cross a ball.

That’s not the Kyle Knoyle we lost. His head has clearly gone.

Knoyle has got one of the best deliveries I’ve seen from a united player. Clearly an unhappy camp.

4-1 to the football team. We played some good stuff tonight and had to battle hard for it. Wycombe we’re just as ugly as they were in 19/20 but I can see why they’re affective. 6 wins out of the last 10 since the Bolton 5-2 defeat. Now an hour queue to get out of Wycombe!

We played well to start with, then Ipswich turned it round and played to their strengths whilst we lost the plot a bit.

one of those nights. next.

1-1 at home to Cheltenham. Probably a fair result. Two teams who lived up to their lower-mid table positions and poor current form.

Impressed with Cheltenham's ability to play out from the back. Look like a team who just need a bit more quality up front to complement the nice passing through defence and midfield.

Highly impressive performance from United given the number of fringe players on the pitch, players in unfamiliar positions and players who were forming new partnerships in almost every area of the pitch.

The absolute worldie from Ben Worman is a thing of beauty, just sex on a football pitch, I've already watched it back a dozen times.

But, despite having a scratch team out, we totally deserved that win.

A word for Morecambe - they are achieving far above the pundits expectations (they were the only team predicted to finish bottom more often than us) and they started really well but then dropped away. I assume this was an off night, or perhaps we made it hard for them to play when we switched our shape around after fifteen/twenty minutes; but I was disappointed in their petulance - there was a bad foul, which was a carbon copy of the one for which our lad May got sent off at Shrewsbury, which only drew a yellow, and then an even worse one (straight through the standing leg well after the ball had gone) which definitely should have seen red. I would like to think that they are better than that...

Well, I called it right, the match went much as I expected with Charlton testing us way more than most recent opponents. Happy enough with a point and moving up to 3rd after a very tense 90 mins.

Ref was absolutely garbage, seemingly changing sides during the game. After giving us everything for the first 20 minutes he then penalised us for everything and started throwing cards around. Most glaringly of all, I think, was the failure to issue a second red to our centre half Ihekwe, the only person in the ground who didn’t think he was off seemingly the one with the cards in his pocket. The opportunity that gave us to sub him and reshuffle undoubtedly helping us hold on in those last 20 minutes. Some irony in the fact they equalised while we were having our best attacking spell in the game, and the Charlton keeper saved superbly from Ladapo to keep it at 1-0. Charlton are a good side, I can only think their previous manager actively sabotaged them after that performance.

Agree with everything.

A good battle between two good sides I thought. Can see why Rotherham are doing as well as they are, big and physical yet slick on the ball at the same time, seem to have all bases covered.

Another decent shift from our boys, all the talk on here about Rotherham being far and away the best side in the league had me concerned but we more than matched them and may even go as far as to say we shaded it over 90 mins.

The ref was diabolical and knew that was going to be the case when he booked Stockley after 4 minutes. How your bloke wasn’t sent off is anyone’s guess, the fact Warne subbed him off almost immediately tells its own story.

On Warne, what a different manager and human being he is compared to Lee Johnson. Complimentary about us and very honest, very likeable bloke.

I'd say it was an off night as we've been alright at home so far. However, you worked us out quite quickly and you didn't really need to get out of 2nd gear.

We were awful and it really reminded me of the old Bentley days at times. We barely played a pass all night and constantly looked for long switches which just didn't work.

Last night was a real reality check and we need to get to January and get some new centre backs in, the current crop aren't league 1 standard at all. We'll go down if we don't.

I disagree. He pulls his foot back as the ball comes to him to try to bring it into his path for a shot but the touch wasn't the best but got away with it and the finish was sublime.

Both are playing regularly and doing really well.

Long has basically moved to centre-back until further notice and, whilst he's clearly not a natural there, you can't fault what he has done.

Chapman has played in the middle and out on the left and has been really solid. I've mentioned before, it's very easy to forget the lad is only 20. He plays with a maturity many elder players don't. The problem with that though is that when he does make a mistake, he gets criticism that is probably a bit harsher than such a young lad would warrant. Either way, there's been many more positives than negatives in his game.
Yeah, even at 16 he was starting to look physically way older than his age. Glad he's settled down somewhere though. He messed about here holding out for a better contract (and not replying to the initial contract offer full stop as is rumoured) then Covid hit and it was taken off the table.
