Well it was great to see Jodi Jones for 18 minutes on Saturday.

No Jones , No McGoldrick but Part Time Stu has told Grant to have a rest and it means the fans get what they wanted the Gambian Guinean connection to front.

Jarvis needs a good game. Hopeful the midfield can dominate and Whitaker can finds pockets of space to exploit.

And he puts in an absolute stinker! Awful performance from the youngster.

Terrible result. Poor performance.

Another fantastic finish from Abbott with a full volley direct from the corner. Disallowed once the opposition had bullied the linesman.

Was the right decision, though. Looked offside to me at the time and it looks even more offside on the replay.

Credit where it’s due your team did a very solid job and your keeper has always impressed me from when he was at Bristol Rovers. Frustration is the right word just because it’s too frequent with us that we play teams in the bottom third of the table and just don’t know how to approach them. Think it’s a product of the way the manager goes about things for good or bad.
I'd still have him back now it was only Barton that froze him out.
Cant believe Notts County didnt sign him with their keeper issues, he'd have probably played for them free of charge

He's definitely stood offside , is he interfering? He doesn't effect the goalkeepers view who has no chance.

If the linesman had flagged straight away then I get it but he didn't. Still no point moaning about officials or decisions they do or don't make. We weren't good enough again at home.

He’s interfering because the ball slightly deflects off him. It’s a bit unlucky because it was probably going in anyway, but it was the right decision. The delay was because the linesman didn’t know if he’d touched it and needed the ref to confirm - he didn’t flag straight away, but he didn’t run straight back to the half way line either.

The main crime was Barrow somehow ending the game with zero yellow cards despite a display of weapons-grade timewasting after it went to 2-1.

Obviously in no way advocating abuse or bullying of officials, but one of our main complaints this season is that we've been too nice, and never contest decisions even when they're clearly wrong. Take the penalty against Crewe the other week, it was clearly yards outside of the box, yet Canavan and Farman only really had a quick chat to the ref.

Anyway, enormous win last night given results around us. I was relatively at ease last night until we went 2-0 up, thought it was a free hit and that anything would be a bonus ahead of two more important games on paper. If we can back this up, we will be OK.

I can't make my mind up on the challenge for the Tracey leg break. Until this morning, I thought 50/50 and it was just a freak accident. But having thought about it and watched the replay a few times, I think there is an argument for excessive force. His action caused Shilow's ankle to quite literally detach from his lower leg. Shilow's foot didn't get caught in the pitch, it was fully from the impact with Mayor.

Like I said, I just don't know. I think I'm now leaning towards excessive force. It certainly wasn't malicious, however, and I'm sure Mayor feels awful about it.

Yeah, that's basically where I am with it. The force is definitely the issue, and there probably was no need to go in that hard. But it wasn't particularly high or two-footed and I don't believe there was any malice at all.

Just back from the game. Thought Tranmere did ok first half but once they went ahead they resorted to 100% shithousery. Not blaming them, it’s what happens in modern day football.
We huffed and puffed but lacked any real quality. Imho, that is were we are. Lacking the quality for a promotion team. Having said that, it seems that is the case with the entire division, with Bradford being the current exception.
We are still in the mix for the play off’s and if we can take our chances into the last couple of weeks of the season I would see that as huge, and unexpected progress
Yeah I don’t blame them given the position they are in, and but for their defender slipping for the penalty they did a good job of stifling us too.

At 1st I thought they both went in hard, so the combined force and angle of impact caused the break. But actually, Shilow didn't go in very hard at all. So almost all the force came from Mayor.

I'm 100% in the excessive force camp. Those highlights are grim, never heard a sound luke that before, no idea why they've included them to be honest. I notice Crewe have taken them down off YouTube but there still up on Fleetwoods. I'm no fan of VAR, and prefer the game without it. But if that were a Premier league game, I've got no doubt VAR would have sent him off, and I think rightly so. Yes he gets the ball but any challenge causes such an extreme amount of damage needs outlawing from the game imo.

I didn't realise it flicked him.

I was impressed with both Abbott's technique once again, he's a talent and then some, and Barrow's excellent timewasting.

A very good and unexpected point on the away last night. When I saw the team sheet without O'Connor I thought we were jiggered. The first 20 minutes were a Vale onslaught on our goal, and if Tolaj's header had gone in rather than hitting the crossbar, I'm sure they would have gone on to score 2 or 3 more. Once we neutralised the ball to their wing backs they seemed to run out of ideas. They sat further and further back until the last 10 minutes, which produced another onslaught on our goal.

Town came for a draw, plenty of shithousing and slowing the game down. We were rubbish in front of goal, Hill missed a sitter and Taylor missed 2.

Regarding the alleged handball incident. I was too far away to judge, but we could have had 2 penalties at the other end for fouls in the penalty box on Moon and Taylor.

I can see why Vale fans are frustrated. All the parts are there, I don't know why but they just don't seem to jell.
The handball was clear cut, and the ref had a great view. Both arms to the side to block the ball, penalty all day long, but we just don't get penalties so not surprised in the slightest.

I thought you were going to get one but it was given offside so become irrelevant. Not sure what the other one was, don't recall that.

The free kick at the end was farcical. Through on goal, goes straight through the man, plays nothing of the ball...no foul.

We created enough chances win 2 games last night, just poor finishing, bad luck, good goalkeeping, and horrific officiating cost us yet again. Just one of those nights unfortunately.
