Without Dave Whelan you'd be nowhere near the Football League. You can't really call out teams for not winning many major trophies when you've won one in your entire history.

we won a trophy when its harder to win a trophy that's the diff.....how many smaller clubs are winning major silverware now ? compare our last 20-30 years with wolves its none comparison !

Middlesbrough Newcastle and Aston Villa both spent more than us in recent seasons. Fulham, Reading, Birmingham and Sheff Wed have also spent close to what we have.

I think every PL team has spent more than what we have this season. There is a difference between investing wisely and throwing money at shit.

No-one around the world would tune in for any league one game and I’m sure most UK fans would rather watch our game.

Talking of fans around the world, I was in Kaohsiung some years back and a Grimsby v Scunthorpe FA Cup tie was to be shown on Sky. I contacted the hotel manager to ask if I could watch a UK televised match in the lounge. As a guest, he said just go ahead and turn it on, no problem. As the match got going, several fellas came in and were puzzled at who was playing. I told them it was Newcastle v Aston Villa in the FA Cup. We had a quite a few end up watch the game .

Not bothered about the result as we made the play-offs and who can argue with that fairytale ending of Thompson scoring the goal to keep them up. What a sport we follow.
