You can tell that the season is over on our messageboard and I am finding excuses to avoid gardening.
Thanks to Russ G, I have evidence that shows our place in the Football League and lends credence to the notion that we 'belong' in the 92, but only just - at 92nd.

I'll gloss over the fact that someone has calculated if you award 2 points for every win we come out 93rd and if you award 3 points for every win we come out 93rd. We won't be budging from 92nd for a couple of seasons as we're 109 points behind Southport in 91st and 243 ahead of Barrow in 93rd!
Note some of the goal differences. U's a modest -165 but Hartlepool is -1029, the worst in League history.
More interesting to me - I hadn't realised until now how pivotal the season that I became a 2CW was. It was 2000/2001 when the U's finished the season 11 points above my abandoned 1st love, Barrow, moving into 91st place - with Barrow still clinging on at 92nd, 72 points above Wigan. In 2001/2002 I changed jobs, got a proper social life and became a regular at the Abbey.

Wigan only pushed Barrow to 93rd in 2003/2004, when they became "proper" non-league. They finished 3rd in the Northern Premier League Premier Division (predecessor to Conference North) and beat Workington in a two-legged final in the UniBond Presidents (League) Cup. The game finished 6–6 on aggregate, Barrow winning on away goals.
The U's only slipped to 92nd in 2005/2006.
