We've been utter shite for about 3 months and it's a sad reflection on the standard of the league that we are still 9 points above the drop zone. Michael Brown appears to have steadied the ship slightly but the FA cup shocker against Huddersfield reserves shows the massive gulf we need to bridge to even contemplate trying for promotion in this league. We've been left with about 35 players of which about 75% are not good enough to challenge in this league and we're just slowly starting to offload one by one.
It's basically a rebuilding job mid season, which is never ideal. We've signed Chris Eagles, recently released by Accrington which is never a good sign, however I will give him the benefit of the doubt as there is undoubted talent in there. We've also signed a youngster from Derby who is highly rated but we've been here before - again though I won't judge until I've seen him play.
In terms of this game, I'm really surprised at MK Dons. Preseason they were one to watch for me but they seem to have carried on from last season in terms of form. They've got a decent squad, so I just don't know what is going on with them. We've finally got a few striking options after having one available last Saturday - Anton Forrester looked a good player early in the season but appears to be susceptible to recurring injuries and JJ Hooper is back on loan - he was starting to look a bit more threatening towards the end of last season but was frozen out under Bruno. He could return with enthusiasm but he's no world beater. We've also potentially got Remie Streete and Jak Alnwick (Keeper) out and they've probably been our two best players!
I expect us to play a bit more direct and with a bit more pace, as this is the way that Brown wants to play. He has said that our fitness levels are 'alarming', so hopefully as the squad gets fitter we'll see a difference. It would be nice to string together some results but I just can't see it. I'll go for an optimistic draw 1-1.
