A team who in the main have been our bogey side in recent seasons.
Think we won 3-2 in a relegation game a couple of seasons ago.
Be interesting how Wellens ( who i felt was a weird appointment ) approaches this after a dicking in his first game.
After the Lincoln abomination we went and shut up shop with a 9-0-1 formation and got i think 4 clean sheets in a row counting the Paint Pot trophy.

For me Whitfield and Miller must start at home , interesting as to how Mr Cautious sets us up with Oyeleke banned.
Surely take the game to a side who may be vulnerable to an early goal, however we all know Aspin is more interested in not losing the game first and foremost so i expect a drab affair.

1-1

Could do with a win here to get us half way to safety.

Swindon will be mega tough regardless of form they are a good side and have a lot of respect for them, seem to have followed us around over the years, both relegated together from the Championship in 2000 and went down in 2017 together.

Manny managed to miss another game with a silly red last week but we have finally found a formula without him.

Hoping for a hard fought win 2-1 but can see a 1-1

Half way to safety ? Surely VF16 even after last seasons' joke you can't see us dragged in this time around?

I still think Wellens will come good, at least he's had a week to look over the squad, I'm expecting a few changes , Twine to start for one, hopefully Dunne will be back, after going off last week, we fell to pieces,
We are playing better away than at home, so I reckon we might just pinch this, get the new manager bounce a week late........2-1 to the boys in red.

Never sure with Vale... I assume not, no offence to Macc Town but the reality is only place to avoid now but first target is the magic 50.

I think I read that Dunne is not back for the weekend but I can't see anything about that in the local press. Doughty is fit for Saturday which is massive, we really miss his class.

As you say hopefully Wellens has had a chance to work his ideas into the squad, it was interesting to read that he said the players could be fitter, you would have thought a Phil Brown side would not be at the peak of fitness.

Not got a clue what is going to happen this weekend so I am not even going to hazard a guess.

Oh go on then, 1-1

We're very hit and miss at the moment. One week we create a load of chances and don't win, the next week we don't create much and win and then other weeks we literally create nothing and lose. We need to get to the summer and sort out certain positions, because we'll just be very inconsistent until then. We're nowhere near the top 7at present but amazingly if we gather a few wins over the next kinder set of fixtures then we might be right in the mix.

Swindon always seem to turn it on against us, so I wouldn't be surprised if they give us a tough game tomorrow, although they've been pretty shite this season. 1-1 for me.

Thank you Darren, very kind. Bizarrely I believe that’s the second match thread this season already that mentions me  I hope it doesn’t attract any of my stalkers in here :ohm:

As for the game I have no strong opinion, in fact no opinion enjoy.

Hope people enjoy the game

We’ve gone through odd phases so far haven’t we.

We’ve like lost 3 then got eight points from 4 and then lost 3 and got eight points from 4 again!

At home I think only Crawley and Carlisle have beaten us outside the top 7 in the last 12 months and the Carlisle one was a dead rubber so we do seem pretty comfortable against teams outside the top 7, in fact of our eight defeats this season six have been against sides in the top 7 so pretty much shows where we are at the moment, decent enough against the mid and lower sides but not quite enough against the best six or seven sides and that’s about what we expected.

I’d hope we can get back to winning ways as you say the next six are all against teams below us so a chance to pick up plenty of points if we can perform.

2 very underwhelming teams - both massively underperforming, mainly due to continuing poor recruitment despite decent budgets.

After last week’s Horlicks I can’t see past another defeat.

This game just screams 0-0 draw to me leaving everyone who bothers to go wishing for the 90 minutes they've just wasted of their lives back. If not then whoever gets the first goal will win it especially if it happens to be Swindon. Don't think we've even come remotely close to winning a game after trailing for ages.

Can’t really recall the last time we won from behind to be honest with you! Relegation season I think possibly the one against Swindon when we went 1-0 down but won 3-2? Can’t think of any last season or this! Stand to be corrected though!

Our recruitment this summer hasn’t been too bad, it’s the two summers before which we are still recovering from. Most of the new players have been decent enough bar a couple. It’s just such a mess that it’s going to take two or three windows to repair fully.

Both got tight arse owners making poor management decisions in the past three years maybe the overall reason we’ve found ourselves playing out a bottom half league two clash though!

I remember Power quoting Smurf in a phone in a couple of years back. 2 peas in a pod them two.

4 seasons of year on year decline knocks the stuffing out of fans. Many just can’t be arsed any more.

Pretty much the same as our fan base. The apathy has been stunning, early in the decade we fought for our club to survive V2001 now no one has anything left.

I think that says it all. Two chairman who wouldn't know how to run a bath, never mind a football club. Both arrogant beyond belief too.

As others have said, our recruitment has been a bit better this summer just gone, but we're still left with previous dross.

I'd argue that we haven't got a great budget, most of our signings have been from non league, however we should have one of the biggest in the league if our chairman wasn't trousering all our profits.

It depends, some weeks he is unplayable, but if you have two solid centre halves then he can be played out of the game.

It’s the service he gets too. Sometimes it’s dreadful. I like the Whitfield partnership as they seem to read each other well.

One thing we didn’t do this summer though, arguably the best target man in the league by far and we didn’t get in any decent wingers! Some silly stat mind that he’s won something like 245 aerial duels more than anyone else this season in the league by miles. (Can’t recall the exact stat someone may have it).

The predicted gift to a side who can’t buy a result.

Won’t win this now.

The lack of anyone in this Vale team who seem to know what their role is meant to be is alarming. There’s no way we will turn this around now we’ve let them score the first goal.

Sounds a real shocker from us so far, that said Pope missed an absolute sitter.

Same old Vale.

That’s because again he’s tinkered with a new formation which we’ve had to scrap after thirty minutes. Why not just stick to what was working?!

Aspin frustrates the life out of me, got to hope we do our usual second half improvement and one drops for Popey.

As it stands a Notts County goal puts us right in the mix at the bottom.

Well done to Swindon, an easier 1-0 win you could not wish to ask for. People at this club need to wake up as we are getting very dangerously close to getting sucked into the relegation battle again.

Unexpected win as far as I’m concerned. Maybe, just maybe, we have the makings of a mid table side.

Notice Yeovil are shit at the moment... Vale Claus to come bearing more gifts?

Feel flat, lowest attendance on a Saturday in ages... clubs dead on its arse.

Yeovil are probably due for one of those out of nowhere 6 or 7 goal thrashings they hand out from time to time. This team is just completely listless, no creative spark or even ability to move into space. Just make it so easy for the opposition all the time. The moment we fall behind it literally is all over.

We were beaten by the better side on the day. First half was a non contest and I actually felt that Swindon were poor in the final third otherwise it could have been game over.

However

I hope I don't sound too bitter (let me reiterate, we absolutely deserved to lose that game) but Swindon are the worst team I've ever seen for all round cheating, diving, feigning injury. It goes back 5 years too and seems to be every game.

I know it's part of the modern game and Vale have players that go to ground easy, but on the basis of the last 4-5 times I've been unfortunate enough to see a Swindon team play, If I had been a Swindon fan then I'd have given up on football a long time ago.

I feel like a winner that I don't have to watch my team act like that every week.

But anyway, congratulations on the win, you took your chance and defended well and we were never really in the game.

Aspin is far too negative at home, we always seem to play better after his changes which suggests to me that he is making mistakes with his tactics/selections. I don't want him sacked, but I don't want his contract renewed at this point.
