A battle of two in form teams... Mansfield have started to find form after a steady start whilst the Valiants have been completely revitalized under the dream team of legends Neil Aspin and John Rudge.

Vale head into this in remarkable form considering we had won our first game then went 13 without a win... since then Vale have won six and drew one of our last 8 games to push ourselves towards safety.

What has been impressive is that we've found differing ways to win, destroying Morecambe, Oxford and Cheltenham, an efficient victory at Exeter and a patient grind out against a negative Barnet side.

No co-incident our upturn has coincided Tom Pope rolling back the years to his form of 2012/13 in recent weeks with 8 goals in 9.

I said prior to Newport i'd take 5 points from Newport/Barnet/Mansfield and we are on 4 so I guess a point wouldn't be a bad result, Mansfield have spent big and will be a very tough game, don't know a great deal about them, Paul Anderson is from the same town as me so kept an eye on his career but Vale and Mansfield havent really crossed paths bar a paint pot game last season... was at our last league meeting though when Keith Curle deflected a John Durnin strike into the net!

If Mansfield are solid at the back in the air then we might struggle, without Whitfield still we've been very direct so if they handle us there against Pope they will likely prevail... if they struggle aerially at the back then we will fancy it... could be the key area that.

Think we will be good for a point here though 1-1.

Our weakest point in defence is set pieces. Generally we are very good in defence with certainly the best players and depth on paper in the league.

The main reason we are not around the automatic spots is we have only had one striker regularly scoring, hopefully Hemmings is going to contribute more now.

Not really sure what to expect tonight but anything less than 4 points in our next two games would not be good enough IMO.

Hoping for a win, but expecting a harder game than Saturday, although that may suit us as Barnet came for a 0-0 and tonight should be a more open game.

A lot will depend on how we set up in midfield.

Head says 1-1, but I'm going for a 2-1 win with Harness and Pope scoring.

Can't disagree with Valefan, 1-1 seems likely. Like many Stags fans, I would take a point tonight as long as we beat Cheaterfield on Saturday.

I wonder if we will stick with 4-4-2 or go back to 4-2-3-1... Anton playing 2 games in 3 days may be a big ask and if Mansfield are more attacking than Barnet with Kay out of the picture tonight may see Denton back in along with Tonge (or Regis if we want a box to box). That said with the aerial presence of the Pontiff and Forrester along with Anton's work rate that could be a decent partnership IF (a Massive one at that) Anton can stay fit for a period of games.

Notice Trevor Kettle is referee tonight... we thought the referee on Saturday was bad... lets hope he doesn't take center stage!

I'd be expected 3 points against that riff-raff on Saturday.

I'd take a point tonight for sure, keep the unbeaten run going.

Should be there for about 5.45 - Vale fans, wheres decent near the ground?

I'd like too see Regis get a game. Can't go tonight, but if we can keep the work rate from Saturday we are in with a shout.

I'm expecting a stags win... we've definitely turned the corner with performances.. we look loads better recently, if we can win at Coventry we can win at Port vale and if we are serious contenders for automatic it's time to catch up because we can't afford to lose pace with the runners..
biggest surprise to me this season is seeing county Top, surely that can't last! They looked very average at the Wonk... we shall see.

Denton in for Kay which means no Regis, not even on the bench. Denton is a better option than Tonge given how wet it is tonight.

That’s like us saying if we can win at home to Oxford (we outclassed them) we can beat Mansfield... doesn’t mean a lot. Currently we are in better form so no reason we can’t beat you. If we do or not though is a different thing altogether mind.

No they haven’t? Beat our Reserves in the paint pot, we beat them 4-2 previously and haven’t beaten us in the league since the 80s... that said we’ve only shared a division a couple of times in 30 years.

I thought we lost at home to them that time when Wayne corden scored after about 50 seconds. Last season that green come off the bench to score the only goal. Trevor kettle must be about 80 now and got be the worst ref in football league history guarantee he ruins the match.

Flash scored a few seconds on but we won 4-2... does the Checkatrade really count?

Wet pitch and Mr Kettle bound to be a red!

Looks a 3-5-2 tonight with Denton and Gibbons on the flank to load the box looking for Pope in the air.

Harness to play centrally apparently and Worrall. Very adventurous looking attack that. Hope it pays off.

Should be 3 ahead, one error 1-0 down. Frustrating but there for the taking if we keep plugging away.

It sounds like we've had most of the play, but go in behind after missing several chances. Forrester booked, so we need Turner on.

2-0 FFS Vale only we could manage to go 2-0 down in a game we’ve had control off. Big ask now.

Danny Danny Rose !!!

I'm more shocked that we've scored more than 1 goal in a game.

It doesn't sound like our night

Nope in off the bar. Had most of the game and a mad five minutes has killed it. Really really poor result this though whatever way you look at it.
