The boxes opposite your main stand are literally condemned!
That means nothing. They were built (by cowboys) when Steven Vaughan was owner and chairman. They were never finished and have never had anyone in them. They do not affect anything. The fact that they are condemned is neither here nor there. Just a reminder of a man that killed the club.

Its spot on that we have sold our training ground and are throwing that money into the hat. Palios is famous for turning around ailing businesses so although i dont expect to win the league i am cautiously optimistic

No, we are not. We have sold the training ground but we have also committed to a new £2m+ facility as a replacement. We have also started a complete refurbishment of the corporate and lounge facilities at Prenton Park, put up a new (sponsored) scoreboard and signed a few players. We will be competitive but we are not 'throwing money at it'. Most of the Ingleborough sale has gone on off field upgrades.

Well we all know that the opening weekend will involve Tranmere - Grimsby on TV, and a ridiculous away journey for one of the teams on the coast. After Gateshead - Torquay last year, I fancy Barrow vs Dover, just to liven things up.

Hi everyone, found this forum thread and enjoyed reading the comments thus far. Most TRFC fans don't expect the Conference to be a walk in the park but the owners and manager are bullish about our prospects next season. We seem to have the right gaffer in Brabin and the players recruited have done well at this level previously.

We've also retained the services of Steven Jennings who is a very good midfielder for 5th tier football and, while the recruitment is still ongoing, it appears we have the sort of budget to go close to promotion. The big issue is we'll have a brand new team barring a handful of old faces and getting them to gel quickly could be an issue.

The odds suggest that Grimsby, Eastleigh, FGR and Wrexham will be the other teams going for the title. I'm not sure if Jay Harris' decision to leave Wrexham for TRFC is indicative that we offered more cash? I'm surprised that Cheltenham are a best price 14/1 and bigger odds than the above clubs considering Gary Johnson is a class manager.

Looking forward to the new season and visiting some different grounds along with some old blasts from the past.

Im just hoping they gel quickly, knowing our fans soon as we lose couple games they will get on the players backs.
Brabin is making all the right moves so far.

Don't think this was worthy of it's own thread. But Welling have been fined £4000 due to high number of yellows and reds they received last season

Isn't that about half of their annual turnover?

Ive just had a quick look at bristol rovers results for last season as a team famed for a solid defence. 15 of their games finished 0-0 or 1-0 either way, to me that goes to show the differance a class striker makes down here , in comparison barnet were involved in 6 games with comparable scorelines, it seems last season ability to attack was a bigger asset then ability to defend especially against the smaller part time teams.

Or am i seeing stats and putting some kind of new labour spin on them to form an argument?

Looking at the top 5 last season:
Barnet: Scored 94 Conceded 46 - Won 28 Games (D8 L10)
Bristol Rovers: Scored 73 Conceded 34 - Won 25 Games (D16 L5)
Grimsby Town: Scored 74 Conceded 40 - Won 25 Games (D11 L10)
Eastleigh: Scored 87 Conceded 61 - Won 24 Games (D10 L12)
Forest Green Rovers: Scored 80 Conceded 54 - Won 22 Games (D16 L8).

So looking at that, it would appear that to even contend for the top 5 you are looking at needing around 75 goals scored IF you have a good defence. Therefore, I would say you are right in saying that a good attack seems to be a better option than a good defence (Bristol lost less games but won less too - cost them the title).

Yep we've had near enough the best defence in the league for 3 seasons but our severe lack of goals has let us down. We're kings of winning away since we're so solid but a strong defence doesn't unlock stubborn teams when you're at home. The league winners have had the best striker in the league for the past god knows how many seasons, I'm hopeful Bogle can be our good omen.

So, now the fixtures are all out, what games are you most looking forward too?

August looks horrendous on paper for us, and I wish our two games with Cheltenham were reversed, so we went there in August rather than December. Eastleigh will probably be my first away game on the BH weekend - and a new ground too.

Bit disappointing that Kidderminster has fallen on a tuesday night, and the same with Woking. Just like last year we will have played Grimsby twice before the end of November, which is bizarre scheduling once again. The christmas period looks awful to be honest - is it possible to get excited about playing FGR twice in a week? Cheltenham in between will be good if it's an afternoon KO and not evening as suggested. Tranmere away at the end of January will be good - I'm glad thats fallen on a Saturday. For once we have Aldershot away on a Saturday too which makes a change as it's usually a tuesday night.

On the flipside though, the best two defences comfortably navigated their way through their playoff semi final ties...

Then you've got Macc, who only finished 1 point outside the PO's, having only scored 60 (way less than the 80 or so average in the top 5) but had a good defence (joint 3rd).

I see Grimsby's crowdfunder is still getting lots of pledges, with the 20k off the lottery winner and the 5k from your trust you'll be on for 100k! Cracking effort that.
