Should be a good one. We've sold out of the 808 tickets supplied to us. Honestly think we'd have sold double that had we been given them.

Reports of numerous City fans going in the home ends due to demand.. not sure why FGR couldn't give us behind one of the goals too seeing as we had sold out with over a week to go.

Agree to a point, we could have done but it's cos we'll have our fans behind both goals. Our home crowds have doubled since you last played us.

Must be getting nearly four figure home attendances now then?

Yep, expect there will be a fair number trying their luck in the home ends but it is what it is. Luckily I got one of the golden tickets for the away end.

This will be an interesting one. Forest Green unbeaten at home so far and seem to have no issue scoring goals with Doidge looking a threat. All of our games have been tight apart from the 3-4 win at Cheltenham last away game. Suspect we'll be unchanged from last Saturday but we have a number of players who will be pushing for a start.

Any decent pubs near(ish) the ground, FGR fans?

Fancy goals in this one. We will most likely go unchanged from Saturday and if we do I hope he starts Holmes on the right where he looked great on Saturday.

Wary of FGR as they've got some decent players, and Doidge will be a danger.

Fancy a 2-2 draw. Taylor and Reid for us.

Yep there are a few decent ones in town, The Britannia, The Village Inn and The George Inn, plus Egypt Mill which has it's own bar/restaurant if you want something a bit posher, but bear in mind they are all at the bottom of the hill.

If you are coming from the south, up the A46 from the Bath direction, the Tipputs Inn a couple of miles south of Nailsworth does really good food. There is also the Weighbridge Inn that does a really clever two in one pie, but you would definitely need to book a table as it is ridiculously popular.

I think the Village Inn allowed (even encouraged) us to bring in fish & chips from the excellent chippy next door, as they weren't doing food. Their beer was also excellent.

Where's the away section now then? The open terrace, like it used to?

Yep. There will be a small seated stand going up at some point during the season on that side as well.

Fair enough. Not uncovered seats, surely? Never a good look!

Away fans are now in the uncovered West [Wet] Stand.
They have an unobstructed good view of pitch.
There were discussions that sometime in November it would be converted to a proper sheltered stand.
So far this season, the matchday weather has been good and nobody has suffered. But if it does rain unfortunately the away fans will get wet.
Both the North & South Stands, behind the goals, are now solely for FGR supporters.

"Vegans v Grecians"? "Ecotricity Marketing FC v Grecians" more like.

Vincent Tan changes Cardiff City's colours and gets dog's abuse up and down the land. Vince Dale not only changes FGR's colours (and I believe their badge as well) in order to promote his private business, but to add insult to injury, proposes to move the club outside of it's traditional settlement to a greenfield site in the face of strong objections from local residents and none other than the Council For The Protection of Rural England among others, yet all we hear is misguided praise from clueless celebrities, activist groups and the sort of sports journalist/pundit who couldn't normally give a flying fook about lower league football, on the back of Vince's much-trumpeted Green credentials.

And that's without even mentioning the egregious financial doping. Still, I guess a few million is worth it to send an energy company's profile rocketing in the competitive and lucrative energy market.

I miss our old kit and badge and the proper food. But I don't miss being skint and losing a lot of games. The club is much stronger now thanks to Vince/Ecotricity.

Hope we stay in Nailsworth as it's where we're from. But if the Stadium/Business Park gets built off the M5 then what you gonna do? Not gonna give up on my club just like that.

Glad you're enjoying buying success. Hopefully yourselves, Fleetwood and Billiricay all one day play in the same league so the rest of us don't have to hear about it any more.

Seriously, fuck private ownership of football clubs. I'd rather gouge my eyes out then see someone like Vince at our club.

To be fair our supporters club were a bunch of incompetant muppets who were not even paying the PAYE. Going into private ownership was a good thing for Notts. I know its not one size fitz hall, Exeter and Newport are good models of where it can work.

I didn't realise FGR used to have a different kit... was it black and white stripes?

Getting used to the change in colours took a while and didn't go down too well with many supporters, including myself, who loved the black and white stripes. For the first couple of years the green was a really bizarre shade and for some reason clashed with many of our opponents colours away from home, we sometimes played in a mixture of home and away kits in an attempt to keep the ref happy. Picture, green shirt, white shorts and red socks, we looked like an 80's Bulgaria tribute act. To be fair, I now love the current colours, but would probably be happier if we went to vertical stripes rather than horizontal...but that is just being picky.

Lets start at beginning.
When Dale took over club nobody, not even him I suspect, foresaw the massive impact his investing in club would make worldwide.
And practically every lower league club/non-league club would have bitten their hand off to have had him as Chairman.
As others have stated Dale has overwhelmingly taken the fans along with him.
  • The green kit almost immediately outsold the black/white kit;
  • the food is prepared by qualified chef and is probably the best is league. Whether you want vegan food is another matter but I enjoy it as well as a MacDonalds;
  • with the fantastic amount of publicity for club, most pundits can see the future assured, possibly with a massive buy-out by a Chinese multi-billionaire whenever Dale stands down.
I can only assume you posted comment out of green envy for a genuine success story.

IMO, the current FGR badge is on a par with the one it replaced, unlike some other clubs who traded in their old badge for some stupid looking brand new one that looks like it was designed by some 8 year old. As for the new colours, while I'd rather see them play in their old black and white stripes, it's just a small price to pay for Vince taking over and investing so much of his own money in making them that much stronger and stable than they were before. In short, if I were an FGR fan, it wouldn't be that much of a deal for me as I would think of the years before Vince took over.

The badge was a funny one, a lot of people had a love of the old one, regardless of whether it bore a remarkable similarity to that of Barcelona. The thing about the current one for me is that it looks just like one you might have for a town council, not particularly inspiring, although it does have some black stripes running through the middle. The problem is that we don't have a strong association with a readily identifiable item, be that an animal, geographical feature or something that defines the area.

Some of the best badges for me are instantly identifiable with the area the club represents or their name or nickname...those from Spurs, Swansea, Wolves and Gateshead are all simple in their design yet at the same time brilliant. I'm not big on tattoos but if I was, and supported one of those four, I might be tempted to spend a bit of money on some ink...however, I don't expect many people will be getting a permanent version of our current badge on their skin.
