Already looking forward to next Saturday. It will probably be a sell out, or close to, and on TV. I have no doubt it will be tough, and Ipswich will score goals, it may just be a question of who will score more.

We’ve been beaten several times this season by teams who just play with men behind the ball, hit on the counter and play for set pieces.

No idea if this is how Cheltenham set up their stall at home or not, but I’d say it’s their best option for 3 points.

We tend to have shot our bolt early in most games as well, so if we can be kept quiet in the first half then that bodes well for the opposition - for a team infamous for shithousing and timewasting, we tend not to react very well when the boot’s on the other foot.

Unfortunately for CTFC though, we’re starting to see some key players back from injury in the DM role, we had a few weeks of not being able to break up opposition play which really helped some teams against us - that window seems to have closed for now.

Rumours that we’re looking to ship in a few from Alvechurch on short-term loan just to help seal the win seem to be ill-founded, but you never know.

We've been very defensive so far this season, it's why the fans are on Wade's back so much. Even though results have been similar to last season, the lack of goals at both ends means games have been boring as all hell.

I honestly don't know what to expect - if we set up defensively then the fans will be on Wade's back before kickoff. If we set up to attack, we'll probably be picked off.

Lewis Freestone is suspended, but Caleb Taylor should slot back in. Hopefully Alfie May will be back as well.

With bet365 you can get 17/4 for us to beat Ipswich, which is quite frankly bonkers, given our relative positions and with us having just beaten the team in fourth. I'm having some of that.

Just looking at the amount Charlton have let in recently and also the same for us this has the potential to be a real defensive shitshow.

No love lost between us and Garner going back to last season so he will no doubt be keen for a little revenge, hopefully our players are up for the challenge. If he thought our pitch wasn’t great in the playoff game wait until he gets a sight of this one…

He was moaning we hadn't watered it enough for them... because you generally do that to suit the opposition of course! Problem was he already thought they were at Wembley after the first leg... his team made a point of that and did our team talk for us.

Think they have a few Swindon players from that night, notably Egbo so imagine no love lost from either side.

Anyway its a new league, new opponent and one we need to look to bounce back in, we need a huge reaction after Saturday's shit show and in fairness we usually do.

Both sides appear to be out of form defensively but the worry for us is Harrison banned, Wilson and Proctor injured so only have one out and out striker available in Mipo who is a kid on loan from West Ham, I would be tempted to play the attack we did against Exeter with Politic and Butterworth maybe behind as we created plenty in that game to cope with the loss of Ellis.

Defensively I would go back to basics, Worrall and RWB, Jones LWB to keep it tighter and Hall back in a LCB.

Pett has to start.

Not an opponent we have played often in recent years Charlton, recall them battering us in our last relegation season at VP and Alex Jones nabbing a late equaliser!

Big game for us this though in terms of reaction from the weekend and need to be getting something here even if its a point.

A home game we need to be looking to win but with 7 draws in our 8 home games and Morecambe drawings 4 of their last 6...! Neither side seem to have scored or conceded many recently either.

Ipswich (H) at midday, live on Sky. What could go wrong?

Should be a decent game of football, we always seem to do better against the better teams, and Ipswich play some decent football. Kyle Edwards is bound to have the game of his life, though. Could always tell he would go far, surprised he didn’t stay at WBA, though.

Will be close to, if not a total sell out too. Assume Ipswich sold out their allocation?

So smart money on a 0-0 then?

Depends if they’ve done their homework I guess. Take a shot from 25 yards and there’s a good chance of a goal against us. If Garners Charlton team play like his Swindon team we’ll get one I reckon just through them messing about at the back with the ball.

Yeah we played them 4 times last season, two wins and two losses so doesn’t give much indication although that second leg we got it spot on with the way we set up and it was a travesty it took penalties after the chances we had in that game.

Charlton seem a bit hit and miss, had a couple of good results then gone back to some average ones so hard to say how this one will go.

On the one hand we should go for their defence but you could argue playing the two strikers and number 10 instead of being more solid has seen us too open in the middle leading to the goals against.

I can only base it when I saw you on TV a few weeks back but that lad Rak Sakyi against our defence is not a fair fight. One thing we won’t do is set our stall out with a low block as we just aren’t capable of playing that way so there’ll be space for both teams to exploit.

I’ll apologise if I’m wrong but for those who do like a bet Vale and Charlton BTTS is a pretty safe one to me.

Burchnall said last week that it’s unfortunate that we keep coming up against sides who’ve just lost, so are extra motivated/more fired up to try and bounce back when we play them. In theory that should make us virtually unstoppable next week given we keep losing and Oxford just won.

Oxford must be shitting themselves.

Yeah Rak-Sakyi is a problem. To be fair we’ve got some very exciting attacking players, Blackett-Taylor terrorises defenders for fun and we’re finally beginning to see the Charlie Kirk we hoped we had signed.

We just can’t defend, doesn’t help that we only have 2 fit centre-halves one of whom is Ryan Innis who’s never far away from an injury or suspension himself.

Our women's team are top of their league but the manager has just resigned. Ironic really.

Maybe he can give Burchnall some advice.

Our game against Accrington should be a right humdinger given the form of us both.

That struck me as being a bit bizarre, unless he had personal reasons for resigning, he was doing a really decent job...unless he has been offered a job managing another team, Hope Powell has recently left Brighton, maybe he will be their next manager.

I don't do Twitter but managed to view the clip from the South Stand at half time on Saturday...that has apparently been viewed a lot of times...of a fan shouting abuse at Burchnall, brutal!

More a strange one that they get all in a tizz at the first sign of a bad spell for the club, they were never gonna keep up that upward trajectory that they'd been on and for sugar daddy clubs there is always an upper limit.

What this one? Tbf Burchnall’s had a few giving him this sort of stick for a while now.
