No great mystery to it. The wide centrebacks have been clearly picked with a view to trying to counter Tracey. Would rather Tolaj instead of Hackford on the bench but only so many spots available.

Watching this on Sky tonight due to working nights. See they also have a PL game on tonight so why they had to schedule this for a Monday night fuck knows.

Yeah I get that but looks a bit iffy if we end up under pressure, it’s one set up with the expectation of us having the ball.

Tolaj is a funny one. Hackford has done well off the bench so can see why though. If we lose it’s a terrible line up, if we win Moore has pulled a master stroke I guess.

Have Port Vale always played Glad all over or is that new?

Feels weird considering it's so associated with Crystal Palace

Done it since the early 2000’s just for the most of that time we don’t score many for any to know. Not a lover of it myself.

Hanging on a bit too much last 5 or 10 minutes. Just need to get on the ball and slow it down a bit.

Crewe will torture us on Saturday based on this. Far too much aggression and energy for us to cope with.

Then in a few weeks Port Vale will destroy us. Again they’ll physically dominate and have players to put us to the sword.

Its going to be a tough month.

Strange old half that. Wonder goal from Shorrock but been rather scrappy outside that. Crewe had a couple of half openings but not much beyond that.

Great start and hit from young Jack. Made it hard for ourselves at times over playing in midfield and probably should be 2 up but poor composure in a great position.

Referee is a joke though. Books Hart seconds after not booking a Crewe player for taking out Chislett and letting a lot go for them.

Decent contest and probably need another.

Crewe been quite confident as you'd expect but we probably look the more likely to score. Both teams been quite direct to be honest and the final ball from both has been poor. Fairly even but Crewe do look a threat coming forward.

Referee and linesman are a joke. Seriously terrible.

I'm gonna provide you all with some expert, Sky Sports EFL levels of analysis here.

It was a great strike, and he will be really happy with it.

Pure stupidity by the Port Vale player

Why make that challenge on a yellow

Fine it's a yellow, the first one was a joke considering the 3-4 they have been allowed to get away with.

Called it.

Don’t see us holding out much longer. Defending manfully but only so long can do it.

Crewe really stepping it up now. I can’t see us holding on but even so really brave defensive work from us. Pleased with the commitment.

Vale are defending really well here, seem confident at the back

Regardless of the result Ryan Croasdale is our MOTM. He’s been everywhere. Of all the pickups we’ve made in the summer he’s been one of our most crucial.

Harper needs take a look at himself. Put his teammates in a very difficult spot. Yes he did win the ball but it was reckless.

Proud of the defensive effort at least but Crewe certainly don’t deserve to lose.

Horrible to concede late but a good point for Port Vale in general considering they were down to 10 for most of the 2nd half

Lankester for Crewe looked levels above the rest of his teammates, not sure if it's a one off though as I haven't seen Crewe this year until then

Proud of that, defended like Trojans and limited them to little. 11 v 11 it’s a different story but that keeps us top until we next play.

Don’t mind the yellows if he is consistent but he wasn’t and similar incidents the other way went unpunished.

Can’t fault the boys at all tonight though

Normally would feel pretty sick to concede an equaliser so late but the fact we really bit down on the gum shield second half and nearly pulled it off I’m feeling pretty pleased with that. Fair play to Crewe, good team no doubt but I guess so are we.

Well done to both Vale and Alex. That was probably the most entertaining game I've seen this season.

Both sides look miles better than our lot and look good to both finish in the top 3.

Very impressed with Jack Lankester when he came on for Alex. One of our summer targets Ryan Croasdale looked very good for Vale too.
