Rovers at Salford. What a difference a year and a bit makes. Boxing Day 2023, we won 1-5 there. It wouldn't be a total surprise if that score line was reversed, but a home win looks near inevitable. I won't be going, when I last checked no surprise we hadn't sold all the tickets

Go on then, I’ll throw my tuppence in…

Harrogate (h) - seems we’re without Cieřa Kelly and Lewis Richards through injury. Both went off last week against Wimbledon. Jack Shepherd was also carrying a knock after the midweek game at Rotherham. Expect Paul Huntington to fill the gap if Jack ain’t fit.

I expect Romoney Crichlow to slot in at LCB and Tyreik Wright to keep his place at LWB.

GK: Sam Walker

CB: Aden Baldwin
CB: Jack Shepherd
CB: Rom Crichlow

RWB: Brad Halliday
LWB: Tyreik Wright

CM: Richie Smallwood ©️
CM: Alex Pattison

AM: Antoni Sarcevic
AM: Bobby Pointon

ST: Calum Kavanagh

A lot of the good about our form recently has come from being solid in defence - conceding just 4 goals in the league this year. Changes due to injuries don’t fill me with much confidence - not because of individual quality of those replacements, but getting these up to speed. We play a certain way.

That coupled with who our opposition are. It’s dubbed this massive Yorkshire derby, but honestly no one outside of Harrogate gives a shite. They’re always up for it and that’ll be no different tomorrow. Their squad is full of ex-City rejects (as per Morecambe and all the others).

Predict a very frustrating 1-0 loss.

Bloody hell, you can tell your team have had a shitter these last few years. Literally zero confidence.

You're in very decent form , and lost to a very good Wimbledon side who will be in the top 3 I think.

Harrogate work hard but they lack ability. Work as hard as them and superior quality will shine through.

Looks like Ripley not starting for you due to a “gentleman’s agreement” between Vale and Swindon. How incredibly civilised there.
Really strange this "gentleman's agreement". Feels like Holloway playing games. If so, he didn't do his homework and watch Moore's interview 24 hours earlier. Asked if there's anything in place to stop Ripley playing, Moore said no, he's a Swindon player, we expect him to start.

Both can't be right. Moore doesn't stand to gain anything by lying, so I can only assume Holloway is trying to be some sort of genius to gain even more popularity amongst the Swindon fans. Ripley starting when teams are announced at 11:30 will be the least surprising news to Vale fans.

This will be the 3rd time this season we’ve played a side with a new manager in charge, the curse of the Grimsby reaper has come a week early again.

I hate watching us at home at the minute, our pitch absolutely kills us off and I can’t see it improving any time soon.

Worth noting that every Carlisle player would get into our starting XI, so a point would be no shame.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit. The eccentric act from Holloway is a bit tiresome at times. I'm sure it's great if you're a supporter of one of his teams though.

It's just the predictability of this one. You can see the X responses already...Olli masterstroke, top shithousery and so on and so forth.

You watch now, he won't be picked and the other keeper has a 10 out of 10 motm performance

Losing against inferior opposition and beating those above us in the league has been a thing for as long as I can remember.

Harrogate WILL beat us today. Nearly 5/1 with William Hill. Easy money.

Highly unlikely. Good shot stopper but terrible when it comes to command of a box.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
At the very least now with Carlisle we have a manager able to get the ball sideways than backwards…………progress after 1 year, 3 managers, 50 odd players

This time next year we may even move it diagonally forward

But hey sideways football…….wow

We play a lot of sideways football.

So do Curzon Ashton in the conference north, but the game is then also about knowing how to quickly get it forward……..we’ve only had six months so we need about of time yet to muster forward play

Sideways is at least going a little more the right direction

Just the one enforced change with Heneghan coming in for Sang. Fairly content with that, would have liked Byers to start though.

After gifting away 2 points v Salford, I’m hoping for one thing, bouncebackability. Looks like our clean sheet days are behind us, so we’ll need at least 2 goals today

Colchester away expecting a difficult game they have been in good form recently I'd be happy with a draw.
Hopefully Jamma is back today we've missed him on top of losing Lowe at the same time.

I presumed that it was a Carver claim or something and that he was taking the piss.

Not only our first team, but also the reserves and even our youth team would get into your whole starting XI.

Driving up for this tomorrow and hoping for an entertaining game.

Donny should come to play football which will suit us, that’s said - I think the 2/1 on them is the biggest lump job since Vautor at Cheltenham.

1-3 Donny.

Team will be as above stated by ODL.
Bet it was worth the drive :)

Have you guys settled for midtable with a look to push on next season? You seemed pretty confident of a playoff push before. For what it's worth, I don't think you're far off but maybe too much to do this season.
we’re not ready for League 1 so would rather not get promoted yet. Be nice to be in the race and I think with squad we have we can be, but overall would be happy with top 10 in first season back.

The club are hardly going to say that’s it we’re settling for mid table are they? The adverse effects to be seen thinking that way would see attendances fall, fan disgruntlement and possibly see the team drop down the league towards the bottom. We were 4th bottom this time last year, McCann was still saying playoffs, we made it.
Course not but I think it’s genuine. Management weren’t even talking about promotion last year when we were 12 points clear. Cooks aim is to get us back where we were when he left (top end league 1). My only worry is when he gets us there he might leave :(
