It’s bemusing reading Carlisle fans reviews on the game today, we had 26 shots to their 6, 11 on target versus 3 yet you’d think on their observations that we got lucky.

We absolutely dominated them from 25 mins onwards and should’ve been out of sight before the pen. It was a completely deserved win.

I’m a realist. I don’t live in the fantasy world that some of our fans do. We are the worst team in the football league and it showed, you were the better team overall and deserved to win. However you got fortunate with a few decisions imo.

How long you reckon Lindsey has ?

Seems like the Crawley effect hasn't happened with you and it's a costly assembled squad
I mean his points per game is less than Mike Williamson’s was for us which says it all.

We have 3 away games at Barrow, Tranmere and Bradford next and I would say if we don’t pick up 4-6 points from those (we’ll deffo lose to Bradford), he’ll be under serious pressure. But yes, total failure of a season from top to bottom and he’s just one part of it.

We should have had THREE PENALTIES!

The cheating ref was playing for you today and he stopped us from playing on when we were on the break.
We definitely had some luck with a couple of decisions I’m not denying that, but we also battered you and should have won by more than 1.
Although if your chance goes in to make it 2-0 then we probably don’t come back, but it didn’t so there you go.

Notts are going to overtake Walsall aren't they? Just so consistent in picking up wins and look stronger than most. They'll go up as Champions. They were pretty awful when we played them earlier in the season, but their side is settled and strong in most areas. They'll beat us on Thursday I think.

Walsall, as we thought, are dropping off a cliff form wise. They're still in a great position obviously but I just think Notts will better their results. Surprisingly poor result for Wimbledon today...Accy were dreadful last week. Bradford keep picking up wins...it seems they've finally got a settled side and are just doing enough. Crewe, as I thought, are dropping off. They look a pretty decent side but short in depth and it's starting to show.

For me, we're playing for 3rd place/playoffs. We looked much better than Swindon first half, a really good team, so to come in at 2-2 was pretty poor really. We have these lapses in concentration that the auto sides don't have. If you're scoring 3 away from home, you should be winning the game. One big positive was Byers coming on, who ran the show and looked like the player that we're paying a lot of money to. He has to start on Thursday and we have to pray that Stockley is fit. As I said before the game, him and Tolaj as a pair are very hard to stop..Tolaj is on fire at the moment.
Every team will have a setback or two in the final games, especially against teams fighting for their lives.

But at least you picked up and paid for Nemane and Crowley for us. So not a total failure.

Watched our game at home on me son's dodgy stick. Thought it an entertaining game with us riding our luck at times and being the better side for the most part.

Carlisle looked OK at times but we seemed more organised and quicker (don't normally say that), some of our approach play was lovely and deserved more goals, ref was doing fine but then he started to give some bizarre decisions in the second half for both teams.

Carlisle in real trouble, we will either push on and get a Play-Off place or fade away, who knows?

Absolutely battered Carlisle there, could’ve been 6 or 7. Certainties for the drop IMO

Carlisle reminded me of us in 2009 - nailed on for relegation on that evidence - a team that is clearly less than the sum of the parts. Gifted a goal from another set piece defending shambles from us but didn't take advantage like most other visitors have at BP when they've got ahead. We dominated from about 25 mins onwards, and on the occasions when we got turned over in possession with bodies upfield Carlisle completely failed to take advantage and quickly lost their way, apart from hitting the post second half. Others have been ruthless in punishing us for that.

Deserved but hard fought win. Hope Morecambe go down because they were dirty fuckers today. They purposely set up to kick us off the park and the most atrocious ref we've had in years let them.
The refs first job is to keep the players safe and he failed at that today. Jones kicked off the pitch after the fourth hack at him after around 20 mins, Gordon scythed down in a tackle that was a red all day every day and the bloke gets a yellow.
I very very rarely comment on officials, they're up against it, footballers cheat all the time but today was too bad to be true.
Unbelievably we went in at half time with two yellows, one for a coach against their one. Unbelievably inept reffing.
Whittaker looks an upgrade on Crowley, Jatta was strong as a bull for our second.
Tough game on Thursday, I'd take a point now.
I think Morecambe will stay up, they're robust and I think will do just enough.
I think you'll beat us on Thursday. It just feels like you're in your stride and have a settled team. As much as I don't believe Jatta is a million pound player, he's clearly in form. Seems like your midfield is clicking too.

At times we look really strong but sometimes it feels like we're really swimming against the tide, desperately trying to hang on to our position.

It won't make or break our season....I think 3rd place needs to be our target. We should have enough for the playoffs....we've not been out of the top 7 virtually all season.

After a couple of tough games, we've got a reasonable run. We've got 8 games in March! But we've got more home games than away and 3 in a row at one point.

Still two of the best players in the league based on the stats!

Our ‘club ethos’ of playing tippy tappy happy clappy bollocks is basically the reason we’re stuck in this division after spending years pushing for the Championship. It works at L1 level and above but down here we basically give a goal away a game through a stupid error passing out from the back.

We aren't really settled, lots of injuries and changes, have been all season, except for the defence which has been pretty settled.
It would be a great win if we manage it but I'm not confident. Would take a point now.

Look forward to seeing both of them in the team of the year at the end of this season.

Grimsby look a decent side. Two things that did not look decent today: the state of the Blundell Park pitch, and the atrocious official. 2 clear penalties denied, and a soft penalty awarded to the home side. We weren't at our best by a long way, but those decisions have quite literally cost us the match - even if us winning would have been against the run of play.

Abysmal stuff yet again from an individual who has no business officiating in the EFL. And this following on from the bizarre sending off for Jordan Jones last week, after the ref chose to book him for 'diving' when he was clearly impeded.

We really could do without this kind of incompetence working against it. We've had enough of our own incompetence as it is.

Fuck football.

You don't seem to be losing very often at all. Signs of a good side. One of our fans watched you today, said you weren't very good, but if you can still comfortably win 2-0, then that's a very good sign.

Lost as often as we have to be fair! Should be a decent game.

I've just realised that Connal Truman is MK's goalkeeper. He was dire for us on loan, long may his direness continue.

That's our payback for Accy then. When do you play Vale - they are payback mass dumping ground for other teams' bad ref decisions...?

Performances at home haven’t been great but we’ve picked up the results by and large, played better away especially in the last month or so.

Looking forward to Thursday, I’m guessing you might play how you did at Meadow Lane, let us have the ball and hit us on the break?

Who knows? We tend to let possession sides have the possession and knock it from side to side and then engage when we need to. If Byers plays, we might have a bit more of the ball. Our big chance is if Stockley is fit....him and Tolaj are real handful for anyone.

That’s the frustrating thing isn’t it. Grimsby were the better team no doubt, I’ve admitted this in this thread. But there’s this idea (not necessarily on here) that these bad decisions are somehow ok because the better team won. Which is nonsense. It’s like well Grimsby missed x amount of chances and should have been out of sight so it’s fine that the ref gave a nonsense penalty and failed to give two blatant ones for the away team.

We are the worst team in the football league, of course teams are going to be the better team against us. Any wins we get will be against the run of play, but incompetent officiating shouldn’t be just accepted because the benefiting team has had the better of the game. Now we know how all those teams felt against Sir Alex’s Man United. What chance have you got when you’re up against both a better team and a corrupt official?
