To be fair, if it's who I think it is and if I've understood what happened right, a lot of people would do the same. I know I would.Whoever rang the plod over a posting on the interbez needs naming and shaming.
What a douche, unplug your internet if your feelings get hurt easily
Absolutely the right thing to do and if the person of the receiving end felt threatened, I understand him contacting the police.
Having said that, that would be a last resort for me. If he didn't appeal for admin's help first, shame on him. If he did and admin failed to act, shame on them.
To be honest, if some bloke off the internet was calling my mobile at all hours having somehow got my mobile number, my first action wouldn't be to send a strongly worded PM to the mods. I'd be straight onto the police. It's a matter outside the control of the forum - all they could do was ban them, and that obviously couldn't stop the calls.
I believe it was on a WhatsApp group chat that the victim was a member of. Obviously there's a risk when 'strangers' and personal information is involved, but IMO this was fairly low-risk.My apologies, I only skim read and missed the phone calls bit. Calling the plod was obviously the right way to go.
However, who the fuck puts their mobile number on social media? Facebook is continually asking for my mobile number so that I can 'retrieve my account' but I wouldn't give it to them in a month of Sundays and beyond. The victim here has suffered, no doubt about it, but he didn't help himself by publicising his mobile number.
I must re-iterate that the person who's phone was rung at 2:30am wasn't the user that contacted the police, he decided to take it up with the admin instead, amongst other things that said user has done.To be honest, if some bloke off the internet was calling my mobile at all hours having somehow got my mobile number, my first action wouldn't be to send a strongly worded PM to the mods. This is an extremely pixelated picture of me in Edinburgh recently.

Couldn't the wet animal who called the police just have blocked the number that was calling them?
