Assuming the positive tests were carried out on Christmas Eve those missing still won't be available, unless they can do a subsequent test to prove a negative?

Key players out, Banks still suspended and relying on three ever so slow defensive players. Add in to that a probable impatient crowd. 1-2.

I haven't really read into it too much, but I thought I'd seen that they were still awaiting PCR results and that's what Cooper was annoyed about? Has Banks had 10 bookings already??? Bloody hell.

Obviously i’ve only saw from afar, seems like you were doing well until the manager fucks off to stockport, you’ve not quite been at the races since?
We had a very tough run of games when Sweeney was caretaker and even if Challinor was in charge, I doubt we'd have done much better.

Under Lee its a win, draw and defeat but the performances haven't been good. He's gone a bit more direct and it isn't really coming off.

If we don't strengthen and sharpen up a bit all over the park we will end up fighting the drop.

Yep. Personal circumstances and shift working have meant following a lot of the games, even home ones, online this season. The amount of times I've seen "Banks goes into the book" makes it difficult to believe he's only on 10.

Anyway, are ourselves and Oldham the only ones playing again?

Rochdale v Port Vale and Swindon v Stevenage are both still on I think.

Our game is now off. Not long been announced. According to our Twitter account it’s due to cases in the Rochdale squad (so as it stands I expect we will play at Harrogate on NYD).

I think if the EFL want to avoid this happening for the rest of the season come the transfer window it may be a better idea to abolish the squad limit rule and also allow emergency loans outside the window. Should add I haven’t given too much thought on the practicality of the above but those are two measures that could help.

Not too fussed, oddly said these four games before the window we needed to shithouse through and not lose touch so to have three off so far is a bonus!

DJ will be banned until March though as this rate!

At least it’s not us calling this one off and we have shown willing to try and play it even calling back Danny Shitehead… (that corner at home to Barrow last season left me hoping I’d never see him in a Vale top again!).

EFL will have to look at it January, ditch the squad caps but still clubs would have to fund the extra players and most won’t have budgeted for that.

Issue with loans is clubs will be wanting to keep their players for their own squad requirements but hopefully this wave peaks fast and drops off as the amount of people getting infected plus the booster levels having time to generate some immunity surely will mean it can’t go on for too long at this level of infection

Dale and mansfield will be off NYD just not officially confirmed

Our squad had covid which has led to tomorrow’s game at harrogate being off, and rochdale would cover this period also, but then rochdale also have covid so well yeah, it’s off.

Just two EFL2 matches left:

The optimist in me hopes that these will be last of games postponed for reason that everybody now has has this damned disease and/or been inoculated so no fresh bodies to latch onto.

Hearing that supposedly the players that were out against Tranmere weren't available due to not having their test results back in time, so they could well be in the squad tonight.

Crawley v Bristol Rovers off
Seems it was the gas who asked this to be called off...not that it matters.

We had the game before Xmas called off and probably the boxing day day game as well so it seems only fair that someone should do it to us.

Going to be a tough February and March.

Got a weird starting line up this evening. Probably Covid related, but Garner’s preferred 5 at the back is nowhere to be seen. Only 1 CB playing, Simpson on the bench instead of starting and Mitchell-Lawson taking his place as striker - probably one of the worst finishers I’ve seen. Ah, well at least we’re playing.

Well that was wank, a poor game between two absolutely hopeless sides. Oldham fans rightly furious regarding their time wasting tactics towards the end while we were effectively doing the same by passing it sideways on the halfway line. Chants of "what the fucking hell was that" at the end, I think from Oldham, but could've been an apt question for both sides and the game itself.

Very concerned about ourselves now, 1 win in 13 or something, haven't scored from open play for over two months, and that's before we get to the finer details of individuals. Won't be long before we join Oldham in the bottom 2.

The EFL was never gonna be a walk in the park but when you see Harrogate and Sutton with similar infrastructure to ourselves adapt well it makes it all the more depressing.

agreed it wasn't pretty - but the referring particularly in the 1st half didn't help - how the ref didn't give a penalty and red card when Josh Gordon was hauled down in the box after about 10 mins i don't know... he just bottled it. That would have totally changed the game.
Going forward we do need a centre forward in the window - someone like Kyle Whootton at Notts County maybe...
I'd expect us to improve at the weekend against Bradford as Ollie Banks will be back from suspension and we play a far faster passing game when he's in the team.

I've seen Wootton mentioned a few times but that's gotta be pie in the sky, no way are we forking out for a good conny striker.

Felt we should have won, the best chances fell our way but we didn't take them. Happy with the point, but does feel like an opportunity for three points missed.
