I’d be surprised if there’s much of a take up if any just seems a bizarre thing to even offer tbh

Is this for the part time fans that bought a season ticket after hearing about Carlos' dream?

Must be great to be a Sheffield United fan at the minute, they must be laughing their tits off.

Yeh it’s the Commedy Club down at S6.

It all started from our convincing 4-2 win at their place earlier in the season. That win is proving to be a water shed moment.
Their fans lost their swagger and went into a semi depression for a few weeks, now they are at each other’s throats, plenty of distrust and it’s all gone toxic at Wednesday. The appointment of the infamous Charlton CEO Katrin Meire this week has set more alarm bells ringing. In fact the SW Chairman seems to be making continuous errors (there’s a long list of comical errors). It’s as though he hasn’t a clue how to run a football club.

They have bloated unfit squad of over the hill players on big money that will be hard to move on. They are also sailing very close to the FFP restrictions. Can’t seem to bring in any sponsorship, so he’s sponsoring himself. His name and face is on flags inside the stadium etc.
The squad does have some talent but they have no leaders or battling qualities, so aren’t suited for a relegation battle.

Everything their Thai Chairman touches seems to go wrong, no one knows who is advising him.
Can’t wait to see who they appoint as manager. I reckon it’ll be Shteeve McClaren or another foreign coach that no one has heard of.
Worrying times ahead for Owls fans and guess what?

Wednesdays next league match is the Steel City Derby at Bramall Lane on Friday night.
This match will be really hostile with Blades baying for a blood and a big home win.
The only concern is that in the Sheffield derbies the underdog on the day always tend to do well.

Think some of that last post is a little bit over the top. Yes we are having a bad season but our injury list is bigger than our fit list and any side would struggle with it’s 11 best players injured. Not that I’m making excuses as we’ve been heading this way since last December. The FFP. Thing is a load of bollocks we will spend this month. The sponsorship thing is also a load of bollocks, yes Chansiri is the only person that sponsors us but it’s pretty obvious to anyone that knows the crack with FFP that he is doing it to keep revenue streams from sponsorship at their maximum, why accept sponsorship from somewhere else if they aren’t paying as much?

From the outside yes the appoint of Karen meire looks like a disaster waiting to happen but we will see, our chairman has made plenty of errors and seems to have been badly advised but the overreaction from Owlstalk etc is comical, they should remember where we were before Chansiri and think about where we would be if he weren’t bank rolling us.

Time will tell on the mangerial appointment and I can’t say I’m optimistic about who it’s going to be but it can’t be worse than what we were been served up under Carlos for the last 12 months.

This refund thing is abit daft and yes things aren’t going to plan at the moment but to suggest we’re a club on a downward spiral is a little bit over the top at this moment in time. A new manager in and a win at the lane in 10 days time and suddenly things don’t look so bad.

This hasn’t been clarified and I imagine they’d be ridiculous

Katrien Meire is your CEO, bizarre and ridiculous are just two of many things you're going to have to get used to.

EDIT: My god, if feels so good saying 'Katrien Meire is your CEO' to someone that doesn't support Charlton :bg1:

The blade that just posted that is exaggerating things a little bit... we have had a shocking season with crazy injuries but it's hardly the end of the football club. We have a chairman who wants to invest money, unlike down at the lane, the last 2 seasons we've made the top 6 and if we get the next manager right, and recruitment in the next 2 window there is no reason we won't challenge again.

As for the ST refund, anyone who takes it up should be banned from
further purchases. I think the chairman has had enough of the moaning drama queens this season which is why he's offering it.

I don't know a lot about her, why was she so bad at Charlton? Wasn't she just taking chairman orders?

Think it all started when she called Charlton fans "customers" who should be happy with what they've got.

Agree, what makes football such a great game is it’s unpredictablilty, so there’s always hope.
Wednesday are currently like a wounded animal, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they show character and impressive battling qualities in their next league match at Bramall Lane. Also we’ve seen it so many times where the appointment of a new manager has an instant positive affect.

It’s the timing of the season ticket renewal offer that’s the error.
Making this offer immediately after the worse defeat/ worse performance of the season is just asking for trouble.
The statement on the website should also have been worded much better and surely he knew that by keeping “the conditions” secret isnt a good move. The fans that do request a refund will no doubt communicate “the conditions” on social media, so why not just say what they are alleviating secrecy. Some troublemalers are saying the condition might be a stadium ban or your name is held on a future black list.

Nothing wrong with not buying good players? Interesting.

I found this on the web:

Usually, English football sides are run by managers, who have a wide-ranging role in team affairs. But Duchâtelet wanted Charlton to be run by a head coach, who would have little say in what players came into the club. So he started interfering with the team behind Powell’s back.

Duchâtelet’s first moves included selling popular striker Yann Kermogant to Bournemouth. He was replaced with the hopelessly inexperienced Piotr Parzyszek; a player so out of his depth, he made just one substitute appearance, three minutes before the end of a match, before being bundled off to Sint-Truiden on loan.

Goalkeeper Yohann Thuram-Ulien was also imposed on Powell, ahead of the effective and experienced Ben Hamer, who later escaped to Leicester.

According to Katriern Meire, this is your clubs aim:
“My proposition would be a real unique football fan experience — and see hopefully the next stars of the Premier League, which we will have play for Charlton in the first team and then sell onto the Premier League.”

So basically, develop young players for the Premier League and sell them off. Don't you think that's extremely negative?

Found of the same article as earlier:

An interview with Belgian magazine L’Echo saw her (Katrien Meire) declare she did not care for the club’s past, mocking complaints from supporters of 60 years “who know everything better than anyone”. Can't you see that she hates you, the fans?

Here's another comment from Meire which shows she knows nothing about football.

So whenever I get friendly emails from fans they say ‘get out of our club’, so it’s not the shareholders’ club. They say they pay… but they go to the restaurant with their family every week or they go to the cinema, and they’re not satisfied with the product, do they go and scream to the people in charge of it? No they don’t! But they do with a football club, and that’s very weird.”

To add to all of that, she refused to meet with Pete Varney, cancelling meetings at the last minute and ignoring his emails, called the protesting fans "2%" of the fanbase, repeatedly seems to tell off or insult the fans, season tickets going missing, the fans sofa, a couple having sex on the pitch which was leaked for a PR for pitch hire, Roland barely talking to fans, lots of poor signing and obviously relegation, all of that is certaintly not just "not buying good players and good down", there is much more shit going on at the club then that.

Credit to this article for supplying me lots of info: https://medium.com/@darryl1974/how-roland-duchâtelet-and-katrien-meire-are-killing-charlton-athletic-dc8a9ed7e91c#.q6m240hpm

Take a look at the link at the bottom of this excellent post too.

The interesting issue in the Katrien Meire appointment is

When making an appointment for any job the norm is for the employer to produce a job spec (so they are clear about what type of CEO they want). Then the employer scrutinises cv’s and asks relevant questions during the interview to test if the replies match up to the job spec.

The ex Charlton CEO’s biggest quality seem to be having thick skin and dealing with flack.
So it makes you wonder if the SW Chairman now plans to implement unpopular decisions, the Chairman then visits Hillsboro less and less and he lets Meire carry out the unpopular decisions with the confidence that she’s able to deal with the hassle from supporters.

Why else would any Chairman employ a CEO with (on paper) such a poor record on customer relations with little football experience.
Would love to know what qualities they were looking for on the job spec.

I'm not sure how thick skinned she really is, she was always complaining about the protests and stick she was getting. I honestly think she's instead, genuinely just very thick and deluded. Rather than fronting her decisions she just couldn't understand why they were so utterly ridiculous and being called out as such. She is clueless when it comes to business and even more so when it comes to football.

I agree with the general point of your post tbough, she can only have been employed as Chansiri knows things are going to get a bit choppy and she's experienced in being cannon fodder.

After 60 minutes of watching Burton Fucking Albion (no disrespect meant but most understand that comment) give us a lessen in not just football, but more importantly passion, desire, heart and actually wanting to be out on a football pitch (and getting paid good money to do it, when I was younger I played it everyday for nothing other than enjoyment) I left Hillsborough early for the 1st time in over 35 years.

Me and a few others decided to go to the new "Wednesday tap" pub on the south Stand to have a beer whilst watching the rest of the game. We get there to be refused entry as we weren't sat in South Stand despite most having season tickets and all of us having been to the match. This sums up what's going wrong at Hillsborough as well as anything that's happening on the pitch.

Since his arival at Hillsborough Mr Chansiri has made many mistakes (the 1st being ticket prices, it Sheffield not Henley!). Most of these mistakes have been overlooked by most as for his 1st season the club got entertainment and results right.
The second season mainly the results were good, so again in the main he got away it.
This season (our 150th anniversary) nothing has gone right results, entertainment, pricing, kits, pre season anniversary match, I could go on but won't.

Now is the crunch time for Mr Chansiri make some correct decisions and he could still become a hero but to do this he needs help.
He needs somebody with football experience (Howard Wilkinson?) to help with decisions to do with the football side and somebody with experience of running a football club not sure who but no one from Charlton, Blackpool or Blackburn to help with the running of the club.
It could still be turned around but the appointment of our new ceo doesn’t bode well.

I heard people say after the Burton match that things could only get better, I reminded them that in the short term we have Sheffield United to play next (lord help us) but in the long term things could still go either way I am currently holding my judgement but the next for months are very important for this football club.

I and others will always support Wednesday, but the club have to do the right thing now or will lose lots of support and dread the thought drop well behind our beloved neighbours. UTO!

If this had happened at SUFC in past few years they would have been very little cost financially, most of crowd have been on freebies or kids tickets.

Unless you've been going on a freebie or as a kid how would you know?
Heard this many times, think it's another myth like us all being arrogant and delusional.

Embarrassing, you stick to your club through the good times and the bad. Anyone who takes up an offer of a refund isn't a Sheff Wed fan as far as I'm concerned.

At the very least, you announce you hate your club and offer your fandom for loan until the end of the season....

Part of me is still always pleased to see Preston win.
