This thread is great.

If they lose to us on Friday it's gonna go down as one of the worst seasons in history. But if they win well I don't even wanna think about it

Is it bollocks, fuck me we've had it far worse than this, we are playing you with half a team so it is what it is.

Getting dicked in the third tier is far more humbling to be honest.

You were expecting to be challenging to win the league and to finish a long way above us and hammer us when you had you're 1st team. I know you've been lower but with the money you have spent and expectation it's been a disaster so far.

You've only spent 9 seasons or so below this level if you lose Friday you are in a relegation battle, that's a fact so yes I'd say it could be one of you're worst ever if the season carries on how it is, that may not happen of course. On the half a team statement you still have a striker playing who cost more than our entire squad, a midfielder who cost about the equivalent of our starting 11. Infact looking at you're likely team it's cost about 20m and at the start of the season you probably still wouldn't of swapped any of them for any of ours.

All I ever heard from Wednesday fans is that they had the strongest squad depth in this league
It was so strong that they could put out 2 decent Championship standard teams.
It seems the squad players aren’t as good as first thought. Carlos is getting the blame
But we’ll see just how good these players are if they are dragged into a relegation battle.

United are without our best midfielder (Coutts) and without our best talent (Brooks)
But we know we’ll still put on a (at worse) a decent performance.
It’s a team game and teams always outperform individuals.

Wednesday's team on Friday is still a very decent championship side and could quite easily turn us over.

Fucked defensively mate, that's my worry, Loovens is dead on his feet and have nothing to bring in.

Could do with Hutch and Hunt back, both would give us a bit of hope.

I'm presuming Hutchinson will be back from what I'm reading, bolton beat us and Birmingham drew with us at bramall lane, you score 1st every chance you win 1-0

I assume we are going to follow Chief Inspector Morley's advice and be there for half six on Friday, and we will be good away fans by staying in for ten minutes after.

Just read it, the stupid prick, it's just a completely pointless article that will be fully ignored, how come you staying in is only voluntary I was kept in at hillsborough for ages being refused to be let out although I wasn't reyt arsed tbh. 500 coppers on duty too, there was only 300 at the last Manchester derby ffs

Have you seen their back four at the moment?

Palmer, Venacio (sp), Loovens and Fox. Would stick my life on you scoring at least one.

With Wednesday now playing under a new manager anything can happen regardless of current form imo.. usually players are gonna want to impress their new manager and add into the fact it’s the derby Wednesday will be well up for this I would of thought.

Could do either way tbh

Current form in the last 9 games we've both got 6 points I think

You're still playing well, look at the bigger picture. I ain't worried about us yet, Villa was the only game where we've been second best in recent weeks in the league.

Jesus you lot like a drama don’t you. Not even close to been one of our worst seasons in history. It’s not even the worst in the last decade, seeing us under Alan Irvine draw 2-2 at home to a 9 man Yeovil far surpasses anything we’ve seen this season. Yes it’s been a poor season considering expectations but nowhere near as bad as you lot are making out.

Onto Friday anything could happen, on paper we look weak as we’ve still got about 10 first team injuries but it is what it is, fingers crossed that new manager syndrome hits and we put a performance in. If I was offered a draw right now I’d take it.

Twitter is already full of gobshites from both sides but Jesus there's a couple of utter bellends from United, one comparing our exit to the film The Warriors.

So if you lose on Friday you are in a relegation battle you will had the double done over you by the pub team , you've assembled a squad that's cost 30-40m and was expecting to challenge to win the league, you've only spent 9 seasons below this level so tell me what's dramatic about it being ONE of not the worst season in 150 years?

Whilst the squad is pricey when you take it in isolation its been done over 3 seasons and in today's market isn't that expensive but I get your point.

That said you take Rhodes away from it and the value of cost is far less, he was a one off.

By my reckoning
Hooper £3m
Joao £1.5m
Reach £3m (rest is add ons)
Abdi £4m
Hunt £1.5m
Pudil £1m
Jones £1m
Matias £1m
Forestieri £3m
Winnall £500k
Fox £500k
Rhodes £6m (+ 2m add one)
Van Aken £3m

So 29m on 13 players, Lees, Lee, Bannan, Westwood, Hutchinson etc all freebies.

Is that really a lot nowadays?

Before Chansiri we used to dream of been 16th, the players we had were generally not good enough for the level we were playing at, we had no option to change things because we didn’t have a pot to piss in, Club was regularly in financial trouble. We were ecstatic at spending 250k on David Graham, in reality he was shite.

This isn’t the case anymore, we’re currently playing with basically a 2nd 11 out due to our injuries and we’re still not as bad as we were before Chansiri came in (some Wednesday fans ought to remember that).

We’re underachieving but these things happen, I seem to recall Brighton almost getting relegated in between 4 play off campaigns, we’ll come back stronger next season for it.

It' probably more than any other club who hasn't been in the prem in the last 3 years so including Rhodes it's nigh on 40m with absolutely nothing coming in either. Not too shabby really with no parachute payments. That's sort of my point why it's been such a bad season you have got very good players and assembled a good squad and are able to still play a team on Friday what's more than capable of challenging in this league despite all the injuries. But are sat in 16th, things could easily turn around with a win on friday

It's 29m including Rhodes as I said above.

We can dispute that fee I quoted but I'm pretty certain it's closer to the truth than the 10m.

Looking at Derby I'd argue they've spent a fair wad too.

Also Wolves spent far more :)

And they are 1st and 2nd in the league proving my original point even further. I believe you're net spend is the highest of anyone depending on what Rhodes fee is quoted as. Which is why ffp gets mentioned by you're chairman a fair bit as all that he has spent you've not had a bean in return through player sales, where as a lot of other big spending clubs have. Anyway I think my original point is right up to this point in the season , not really seeing any valid argument against it.

Oh we've bought some absolute duds, had we cashed in on 1FF this would be a moot point.

Strangely Derby have been better when not splashing out on players just buying smarter.

It's not too bad, you've spent a lot but you could cash in £10m+ on players like Lee, Bannan, Forestieri etc at anytime.

Abdi likely to get a chance under the new gaffer? Amazed Bullen didn't give him a go.
