Would take a draw tonight. Losing a 23 goal striker to an ACL is a real blow, not only because we’re in the run in but also because it creates a real problem in the summer. An injury like that is likely to put Stevens out till Christmas, and I very much doubt we will be flush with cash to sign a replacement/cover. In any case until then it will be a case of getting enough results to get over the line, need Matt to refind his scoring touch and Josh March to step up and deliver, in two and a half seasons here he’s never really got going but he’s got a big chance to prove himself now.

Christ, we really stick out like a sore thumb in the bottom half. I guess climbing above Hartlepool and Crawley to snatch a top half finish is the only target remaining for us. Still haven’t won a game by fewer than 2 goals all season; we’re just so maddeningly inconsistent.

Sutton a horrible place to go, literally and figuratively. They can’t cope with our big pitch but we’ve struggled on their 5-a-side-sized playing surface before. At least it’s not a trampoline this time. 1-1.
What is the size difference?

Brisbane Road is the biggest, in particular the widest, pitch in L2 at 105 x 73 metres.

GGL is in the top 6 for L2 but is 5 metres narrower at 105 x 68 metres. In fact most Championship and Premier League pitches are no bigger than GGL and many are smaller.

Only Shrewsbury and Ipswich have wider pitches than Orient in L1, both at the max 75 m.

There are none as big in the Championship or the Premier League.

Would bite your hand off for a draw. I think we can afford 2 draws and a defeat, alongside 4 wins. I think 80 will do 3rd place. Obviously 3 points is dreamland.

There is the strange perception that the GGL pitch is tiny, I think in part because there’s a significant space between the terraces (especially on the near side on TV) and the pitch.

It’s like Father Ted explaining to Dougal about small cows and faraway cows.

Did GGL have a speedway track at some point?

Ours is 114 x 77 according to wiki, it’s a massive playing area but of course the lines are moved season to season depending on manager preference.

Garrity back in for Amoo as expected, back to the trusted 3-5-2.

Nice to see Dan Jones back on the bench. Slowly but surely getting everyone back available with the exception of Conlon. Jones will have an important role to play down the stretch with his versatility and long throw.

9 years to the day since the Burton 7-1 apparently, probably unlikely to get that scoreline but do need to be aggressive in going for the win and not thinking a draw is fine.

We are shit at throw ins so timely return! Less of Wozza stood waiting for movement for a minute!

What a night, still get goosebumps, 1994 promotion team back for it, £8 a ticket and 11000 under the lights. Atmosphere was unreal and we absolutely took them apart… not forgetting they were promotion rivals too!… then did the typical Vale thing and limp over the line with 4 draws!

Wonder is we will have more away fans than home tonight? Being an away sell out assume it’s 1500 still is it?

Trying to stay optimistic, but we seldom look like scoring at home now. If Mansfield play the high press and get us on counters, that should be enough. We only ever play one way so hard to see where the difference will appear from.

Sure you’ll get some but flip it around and some Scunny lot would be guilty too, personally take zero pleasure of relegating Scunny. Stevenage and Evans on the other hand….
I think Bottega Don is referring to the CP Company clad wankers who are attached to every league club, normal Stags Fans having experienced it more interested in getting 3 points.

Will the fans come back in numbers or have they found something else to do with their saturdays.

A high press is something we excel at with Oates up top but he’s not even in the squad.

Yeah I think because we haven’t scored direct off the first phase from it people don’t think it’s been that effective. I think you can credit long throw for the goal at Scunny for one and it’s been a good defensive weapon stopping is getting backed up in our own third.

Just looking at the iFollow stream it does look like more Vale in the stadium. Both of Salfords fans on their forum got a little upset at some less than respectful comments they saw on OVF but you just cannot sustain an EFL club on their investment on those crowds.

Couple of early chances for Vale one for Wilson off a Benning cross then Charsley just couldn’t get the ball from under his feet after Wilson had another shot come back off the post.

No, however it did have a cinder running track, this wasn’t squared off at the Collingwood Road end (the away end) until 2014.

The ground used to be the main multipurpose sports ground in the various iterations of the Borough of Sutton, hence the non-sponsored official name of the ground, The Borough Sports Ground.

FGR take the lead, great save by Bishop then scored via the rebound. Good goal for FGR, Bowery started the issues by passing it to the opposition in our own box.

Poor defending to be honest, a shame because we started well.

May as well give Salford the three points now. This ref is absolutely fucking disgraceful. 2 embarrassing yellows for us. Just given a Salford player one and I didn't really think it merited one either. Just trying even things up. We should be 2 up with Wilson's 2 chances and Worrall's. The ref and his bizarre decisions will decide this game.

Sooner this tinpot joke of a bankrolled outfit go back to the Sunday leagues the better. Wank ground, wank support, wank club, wank owners. Just fuck off, Salford! I'd wrap my arms around Stevenage FC if it meant you lot going bust.

Well we seem to like giving points away from leading positions maybe we can get back into it from a losing position

Oli Hawkins is having one of his games where it’s blatantly obvious he’s a striker playing at CB, having a absolute mare, and if he doesn’t get himself sent off (already on a yellow) I think Jamille Matt may do it for him.

Absolutely nothing subtle about what Salford do at all. Just constantly banging it forward hoping for the flick on by Smith.

This guy Hunter is a right little shithouse. Utterly ridiculous dive to try and get Charsley booked.

Mansfield played some good football in spells but no shots on target, obviously the Akins miss not helping.

Think they fully deserve that lead at half time, FGR look dangerous and defended well. I’d take Wallace off and either put Hawkins upfront or take him off too because I’m worried about them getting sent off.
