Went through every kind of weather imaginable from snow, sleet and fog before Leeds... then the east half of the trip bathed in bright sunshine and no snow in sight! The way back, more of the same. Good ol' Penines, eh...

We're shite and we're crying out for both new management and personnel. Grimsby were the better side and looked a threat going forward, albeit we could barely string two passes together for much of the first half. We looked slightly better when resorting to hoofing it in the second, but only way we were ever going to score was through a good old fashioned keeper error. I'm genuinely concerned that we will be fighting relegation unless we somehow find some money to spend in January, as I can't see how we plan to score any goals otherwise. A highly sedate atmosphere for Blundell Park's lofty standards, presumably down to both side's terrible recent form. 240 away fans was 140 more than I anticipated, looking at the weather, and 240 more than the team deserved. We'd have taken 800 two seasons ago, weather or not.
Yeah my lad said it was a strange atmosphere, said it felt a bit like a League Cup game.
I guess that’s what you get with 2 teams bang out of form.

Massive props for making that journey, you're a credit to your club. I think the atmosphere being poor was down to the weather and the impending England game being on everyone's minds perhaps. Been a weird little period, I think a lot of people have been feeling football'd out. I wasn't feeling this game at all prior to it kicking off but it proved a great distraction before the England game.

Agree that we were the better team. It's the first time I've seen us in a long time that I felt all three attacking players looked dangerous. McAtee treated us to some great moments, the assist for the first goal being the most important but his back heel into Efete into the box in the second half was borderline obscene. Unlucky to see an audacious lob dip just over the bar too and was flagged offside when he was clearly on and in on goal one on one. Would have been nice to see him on the scoresheet but nevertheless he looked a cut above today, which is encouraging after a tough fruitless outing at Wimbledon last week.

Complete shite from us yesterday! donny deserved the win, the only surprise is it was'nt by a larger margin.

The january window ca'nt come quick enough for us and coughlan has to perform a miracle in it or there is only one place we are heading.

Nice result for us at Stevenage. Pleased for Gy - much better side than the run of form they’ve been experiencing.

We had a really similar run last season too, went from top of the league to then winning only 1 in 12 with 7 or 8 consecutive away defeats but all by really tight margins where we weren’t playing badly but always on the wrong end of tight games and we fell 5 points behind the play off places.
Then we finally clicked again and ended the season in promotion form and then carried that on into the play offs.

Yeah cheers mate, like Fish alludes to the fine margins that are evident in Hurstball work both ways. I don't think we've played much worse in this recent slump than we did when were up in the playoff spots early doors in the season. And that's not to say, we've been good all season...the other side of that coin is that we rode our luck in a few of our early season runs. There haven't been many games at all in which we've been comfortably the better side and likewise we've not been much worse than many. I think we're a few players short of challenging the playoff spots this season but get the next two windows right and we could be a force.

Yeah I think it was 8 straight defeats on the road in all comps from Wealdstone away, which included losing at Kiddy in the cup and getting spanked at Stockport in the trophy. I think the 2500 we took to Notts County on the back of that was probably our most impressive following of the season. Class away day that, that was what kickstarted us again in my opinion.

Yeah that Notts away game was another fine margin one too, half an hour in we could easily have been 3 down and completely out of it yet then last hour we turned in probably our best performance of the season to win in injury time and completely turn our season around.
So instead of it being 9 away defeats on the bounce, we won and I don’t think we lost away again all season did we?

We lost at Southend on a cold Tuesday after that, in what was the worst I'd seen us all season. Absolutely abject, crap atmosphere in the away end too and the Southend fans were well noisy and up for it. I left feeling a bit ashamed that night and convinced we'd not make the playoffs. But I think that was the only away defeat after Notts.

Aha I’d completely forgotten about that Southend game!
I had that same resigned feeling after the Tuesday night Solihull home game where we murdered them but conceded twice in the last 15 minutes to lose 2-1 and I thought we were done play off wise, but thankfully Boreham Wood and Chesterfield both absolutely shit the bed with relegation form for the last couple of months to let us back in.

That's all Boreham Wood ever do, I can never understand why their manager is rated as highly as he is.

Haha, yep very true. To be fair to Hursty and the team, we took 7 points from 9 against those two sides in the later months of the season. Probably looking at the 4-1 win at Chesterfield as our best result of the regular season?

Boring football too, it's not like they blitz their way to the top of the table in the early months and then drop down the table thanks to doing things like hilariously getting beat 4-3 at home to Barnet when they're 3-0 up. They just shithouse their way to 2-1 wins for half a season then try to shithouse their way to 2-1 wins but get beat 1-0 or draw 0-0 for the other half of the season.

Yeah they are awful. One of the worst for gamesmanship and total turgid brand of football.

That fucking league.

Did you have any Bromley BEEF? We had major premium kobe with those fuckers. The worst shithouses at that level for us bar none.

Hoping ours will be off purely so I can actually get to the rescheduled game.

Not really except we always got battered there. Had some BEEF with Ebbsfleet. I still hate them.

We let him save a pen in a playoff final as a player! He completely started all this, his tirade at us in every interview we were mentioned was absolutely bizarre. He genuinely seems to think we lied about COVID and got our match called off on the opening day of last season. Guy's an absolute nutjob.

At the end of the day Carver we’re as tinpot as any other club in this league.

We’re shitly run, have one of the lowest budgets in the league. The owners’ business model is flog any half decent players for the first derisory offer that comes and hope we still manage to stay up the following season. We have a crumbling stadium that we can only 1/4 fill 99% of the time, we have a shit training pitch that isn’t fit for purpose, meaning we have to go around begging and borrowing other facilities. Oh and we are done by Errea, the shittest most tinpot kit supplier around.

We are the absolute definition of tinpot and will continue to be until these old boys sell up and piss off from our club.
It would be interesting to know who did have the lowest budget in the league. One poster on our forum believes it’s us. Does anyone want to our their club forward for the lowest budget in the league?
