Anyway, I'm hoping we can keep up our marvellous head-to-head record against Newport which currently stands at played 3, won 3, scored 17, conceded 3!

Most clubs have a head-to-head record like that against us!!! I think you thumped us 6-0 in the FA Cup when we were a league side and you weren't.

Really?
He was alright for us, but I never really rated him.

Yes ... a great attacking midfielder when given a bit of protection allowing him to play. Way more consistent for us than the likes of Adam Chapman. Hopefully he can change your mind when we play you next season. What's the betting he scores against you!

The Yak's out of contact this year. He's been excellent for us. He would be even more valuable if he wasn't made from balsa wood, glass and polystyrene. His injury record is a concern. If he moves on he will still do a job for 30 games a season.

Unfortunately for him he's always been like that. It was always noticeable that our record in League 2 was worse when he was always injured.
We beat you 6-1 in the FA Cup back in 70/71. We were in the Southern League and you didn't win a league match in Division 4 until February!
We beat you 7-1 and 4-1 in 88/89 before the old Newport folded. When those results were expunged from the league table, our promotion challenge was killed off.

Yeah he's with us next season.
Good on him, I think he'll get some more opportunities with us next season.

Not looking forward to going to Barnet next season, treatment we got from the Met there in our promotion season was terrible

Gambin is an exciting, young talent. Very skilful but his style of play wasn't most suited to the conference so we've only seen snippets over the last 2 seasons. We hope he can make a bigger impact next year.

Since your visit to the Hive, things have changed. Grimsby brought nearly 1000 this year and actually praised the stewards for their attitude towards them. With the move to a new set-up, things were always going to be trial and error and adjustments have been made to hopefully improve things. If you come to have a good time and watch the football, things will be ok, but if you act like several of the Cambridge fans did be warned.

Sounds promising. Could you explain the part about how Cambridge fans acted? Was in the away end with 1200 others, but only one small gate opened - not sure Cambridge fans can be blamed for the issues that day

There is no point to explain anything. My view and opinion will be different from yours and we could argue all day. Lets just leave it as improvements have been made and we look forward to welcoming you to the Hive again and hope you have a more enjoyable experience regardless of the result.

I've said this elsewhere already. Cambridge were the first team to bring more support than could fit in the end terrace and the Police\Stewards and club handled it poorly. There can be no excuses, the Hive not having dealt with those numbers before and not anticipating the rush at the end of the game made a mistake.
This is something that hasn't happened since and the new 2000 capacity away stand is all seated and so slows the movement towards the exits, making it less of an issue.

This is as good a place to post it as anywhere else...

http://www.barnetfc.com/news/article/underhill-announcement-2485126.aspx

We've confirmed today that Underhill has been sold with the view to a school being built on the site. There have been rumours for a while that it was going to be sold, so today only really confirms that, but it is still sad to think that the old stadium will be no more in the near future.

The residents can enjoy traffic issues twice a day, for most of the year then.

Living next to a football club doesn't sound like a bad idea now.

But yeah, a sad moment. I wasted most of my youth on the East Terrace.

It is a sad moment, although it was obviously going to come some day.
I just hope that there will be something there that commemorates the existence of Underhill once the school is built.

Far more damaging to me is the statement that the club is no longer interested in looking to return to the Barnet area and will therefore play in Edgware forever more.

“Although I have always fully supported the ‘Back to Barnet’ campaign, following over two years of fundraising and campaigning I think it would be fair to say that its probably time to move on. "

This is an acknowledgement that that club do not see 'Back to Barnet' as a long term goal now that it hasn't succeeded in the short term. It was always going to be a near impossible task but this I feel kills it off completely. The woolly lines about maybe one day in the distant future are just hot air if there is no desire from the club or the vast majority of the support to look for a return. So our support are happy with our new home and no longer care about Barnet FC not being located in Barnet, it is a necessary evil in pursuit of success and stability. I'm pleased for them.

Underhill is no more.

A poster on our forum has confirmed the sale on Land Registry for £14.25m. In the past week the area has been fenced off and demolition has started with the removal of the seating from the main stand.

Has there been any movement on the club attempting to get back to Barnet in some form? Haven't read too much into it, but are the council the main stumbling block? If so, it's something I really can't understand - having a Football League club in the area is something the local council should be proud of, does wonders for the local economy!

The Hive is alright, but it's not a patch on Underhill for me. Would like to see you return to the borough at a purpose built stadium, although nothing could replace Underhill, obviously.

In a word, no.
Yes, you'd think that the local authority would see having us as a prestige point but no, they were more interested in attracting Saracens (who have no connection to the local area) into the borough.
It is sad that Underhill is now being demolished, although it's probably sadder for those Barnet fans who live nearby and pass the site than someone like me, who hasn't been to High Barnet since our last match at Underhill back in April 2013.

The hive is a crappy place to go for an away day empty home fans only bar no decent boozers nearby an away bar that only some of the away fans can use and staff that don't have a clue about anything in general all contradicting each other.
Shame I missed out on visiting underhill. Not sure when pompey last played there, I do like an old ground and thats one that will never make my list now.

You only played at Underhill once, back in 90/91. Guy Whittingham was devastating that day.
