An easy away trip for all next season if you like going by trains.

I would assume Artell will stay on as manager and there are no players left worth selling like last summer?

Their troll has spent most of his time on here after a Vale loss so won’t need a welcome.

Coincidentally their last relegation was 6 years ago today… at Vale Park. Got in trouble going that one was the wife was close to due date… his birthday is tomorrow

They’ve been awful this season and will need a huge turnaround to avoid a struggle next I would think, they were saying on radio that without the kids coming through and no money to really make the wholesale changes it’s hard to be positive. Just the Crewe cycle though, get promoted flog their decent kids and start again.

Interesting to see what happens with Artell.

Do you think the histrionical off field issue affected them as a club?

Artell has been sacked. Not sure where Crewe go from here tbh, probably hire another coach from within.

Would imagine Artell would get another job in League Two in the future.

They haven`t stood a chance this season having got rid of all their saleable assets, especially since two of rhe experienced players they brought in decided to retire. One of them decided to explore the exciting world of quantity surveying rather than play for Crewe.
They will either have to recruit well this summer or the youngsters will need to improve a lot if they are to avoid a double relegation.

Thing with Crewe is there is a certain arrogance about that club when it comes to how they run things generally. They stick to their way is the only way and haven't really adapted or modernised it over the years. Their academy still produces players but they're not getting the fees any more as agents are getting into these kids heads at an even earlier stage so have all kinds of release clauses. Unless they learn to start properly recruiting players I think they'll struggle again. They won't though and no doubt their next appointment will be an in house one.

As I’ve mentioned before Micky Adams dove into it in his autobiography that he never quite understood Crewe in that they were more bothered about playing “the right way” than success and their fans accepted that, whereas Vale (and most clubs) it was win at all costs.

I recall us beating them in the days we used to get Griffith to put in a reducer in the first minute or two and beat them as they then didn’t fancy it and their fans would be on P&G talking about moral victories because they had less fouls or bookings. Really odd.

Overall though I do feel sorry for Artell, don’t like the bloke don’t get me wrong but not sure what he can do when they’ve flogged all their kids, had two (I think) new signings think sod this im retiring instead after signing and not really made any signings of note.

They’ve taken the piss out of us for a few years as you’ve seen with the troll on Vale posts here but the reality now is under Carol and the structure we now have we will be miles ahead of them in terms of a well run club.

I have terrific respect for Crewe supporters after their entire away support moved from the soaking wet away stand into the dry home stand during a mother of all thunderstorms.
FGR security were helpless to stop it happening and were forced to adapt to the situation. The cheeky sods later claimed they had organised it. That was total bullshine.

This was before the bus shelter [toilet cubical] had been erected.
