To be fair, it is a piece of piss to get out of. Just need a half competent manager.

You were in it 4 years and went up in the playoffs, behave yourself tom.

I agree in the most part Tom. It just took us and the Blades a bit longer to realise it.
There are a few rumours about that Steve Cotterill is taking over at Wigan. If he does, they'll be back up in 12 months as he knows how to get out of L1.
The likes of SOD put everything into his 'style' even though we were utter turd playing his 'style'. Some are good in L1, some aren't. Personally, I think the Blades have got a good one, as have you.

Ah, the O'Driscoll shitehouse season!
I will admit we had a shocker that year but, when we took it seriously, finally, we walked back up. It's not a 'Billy big Bollocks' thing just totally inept Management. That said, I am surprised it's taken you this long to get back up as you're a bigger club. Historically, we're a bottom end 2nd level club with a fair few years below that, something we are keen to avoid again.
We're getting there, slowly but surely but we're getting there with the rebuilt stadium, much better crowds and generally a more modern club.
One day, just maybe, one day.

Our first season we got 90 points and still missed out on autos, after that we had 4 years of shit basically spending silly amounts on wages to try and get up, it's certainly not easy it's like any league you need a good balance between manager, players , board etc at you're club. Yes you are definitely a club on the up, maybe you'll get there within a couple of years.

He did say you need a competent manager though, before Grayson we had brown Phil, Graham Westley and Darren Ferguson. It's no wonder we didn't get promoted with them clowns in charge.

We had Nigel clough who loads are saying deserves manager of the year in the championship, we had Nigel Adkins who took saints from league one to the premiership. It's not all down to the manager, a lot of other things need to be right.

Spot on blademan89. I think Utd (and us to some extent) thought it would be easy to get back up. Once the realisation that you're in a proper league battle sets in, plus the balance you mention is implemented, it SHOULD be easy for a club of your size to get out of L1. In my mind, it's taken you a bit longer to realise that and once you did, you absolutely pissed it! I reckon it's one of those leagues you either jump straight back out of or you have to totally reassess and battle your way out of. The law of the jungle is that if a bigger club, with the bigger finances / pull, are prepared to battle, they should finish higher and that. to me, epitomises L1.
This division is a real toughie though, that's why we enjoy it and I agree that you MAY be surprised by the change in standard from when you were last here. You may not be but we certainly were.

I agree, the way our club was run when we had those lot in charge was a shambles. The club sorted off field problems out, got a good manager in and we made the play offs first season and then promoted the next.
