What a great penalty shootout it was.
Congrats Huddersfield on winning promotion to the Premier League.
Congrats Huddersfield on winning promotion to the Premier League.
That's a cool stat. Hope they do well, both of them. This was the League One table in 2011:
1. Brighton - 95 pts
2. Southampton - 92 pts
3. Huddersfield - 87 pts
Good to see our two third tier promotion rivals now up here.
Danny Ward is there on loan from us. You must know Dean Whitehead, the really ugly looking fella who was stealing a living at Sunderland a few years back. And Stoke, I forgot about that.Off the top of my head, I can't name a single Huddersfield player.
Hello Premier League forum! Thanks for the messages, I just can't believe what I'm reading, as I've just said on the Championship forum I never thought this was possible for us with the game being dictated more and more by finances these days. But ours and Leicester's recent fairytales have shown that anything is possible if you keep the spirit and hard work. Sometimes it can be that simple. Our nickname of the Terriers is really quite apt to our style at the moment, Wagner loves it and has used it many times.
Totally understand why it's hard to see us not going straight back down at the moment, as I'm sure you all understand why we don't care about that at all just yet! I'd maybe compare us to a bit of Burnley and a bit of Bournemouth. We're a quite a similar club to Burnley, small northern town with a small population but very well run and a good history in the game. With Bournemouth we've had that similar promotion season inspired by a young manager with new ideas, brilliant team spirit and togetherness, and I can see us having a few frustrating games where we dominate but get punished by teams with more quality, I remember watching Bournemouth lose 1-0 to Newcastle in their first season here, it was crazy that they didn't score and I thought they were doomed after that, but just as we did this season, they stuck together and got over the line.
That's the hope we have, because I can guarantee we'll give it a damn good go. Wagner was Klopp's best man and they have similar styles, high fitness and pressing. Our reserves took a strong City side to a replay in February but we never put 10 men behind the ball, that's just not us. It's just whether we have the quality. We have a lot of work to do this summer, our keeper, centre mid that makes us tick, and two attacking mids are all on loan. But amidst all the controversy of football ownership these days, you won't find a set of fans that trusts their boardroom like we do. Every department of our club is filled with genuine people that care for the community and always communicate. The town is buzzing, merchandise everywhere, it's like what I imagine the country would be like if England were every good in a tournament!
You'll probably hear quite a bit about our owner Dean Hoyle, he really is the dream owner. Supported us in the stands since the 70's, started a small card shop in Wakefield when he was younger and recently sold it (Card Factory) for £350m I think it was.
In early 2008 when we lost 2-1 at home to Southend, it felt like the club has no identity or purpose, we were heading back to League Two. Dean said it was then that he knew he had to step in even though he had no experience at all of the football business. He's never overspent, has always been classy as fuck and stayed a fan (check out his emotions on Monday) and here we are 9 years later. A fucking dream. It's gonna be fun!
Good bit of info never knew what chairman did. Like any club getting to there highest level just enjoy the season at worst you go down but get a parachute payment. Least you aint blown loads to get to where you are and failed like aston villaHello Premier League forum! Huddersfield are a proper football club. Deep rooted history in football and one far better than a number of current Premier League clubs. Thoroughly thrilled they have come up. Nice club, nice fans, proper club, nothing plastic about it unlike another promoted club I could mention.A new unfashionable team into the league..

The Terriers have won it three years on the bounce. City have won it four times. As an addendum, just out of interest. Huddersfield have won the league more times than Spurs. Spurs have won the title the same number of times as Burnley and West Ham have never won it. So perspectives on club achievements and size can be skewed. Is it true they have won the league more times than Man City and Spurs??
