Not quite. My understanding is the owners want to ensure the club has assets again that can never be sold off for personal profit (like a Hamilton or Moss scenario). They have bought the land back from the university and got guarantees that only football will be played on the land until 2115. The lease had to be surrendered in order for the kop to start being built (along with moving some sewage pipes and an electric board that supplies the fucking flats).
