Welcome to league one.
Congratulations. Amazing scenes at the end.
That defender you have looks about 45 and looks like a bar brawler and can put a few pasties away too.

Cheers pub and Barton, great to be back at what we see as our level!

Loads of old friends and rivals here too bury, Bolton, posh who we get in the cup every second year, Sunderland whose supporters we had such a laugh with when we beat Newcastle in the Mercantile in the late 80s and of course Bristol rovers who weve had some great games and great banter with throughout the years.

Mission 52 points starts now!

Congrats to Tranmere, can't remember the last time we played Tranmere it was that long I think it was Shuker, Greenacre and Co. Remember going years ago and it was a decent away end with good view, looking forward to going next season.

Well done guys!
Had some cracking games with them over the last 3 or 4 years.
Get the feeling Mr Mellon is going to become a wanted manager like our duo, he's doing an amazing job there, really is.
Back to back promotions is a magnificent achievement.

Mad 6 years.

Back to back relegations, betting scandals and on the brink of administration.

2 years to rebuild.

Back to back promotions, brand new £4m training complex all but complete, new stadium on the horizon, can we repeat our early 90s trajectory?

Missed us?

Feels like an age since we were here... in reality it's not been that long, but it's been such a rollercoaster ride over the last 5 years that it feels like an eternity.

We're still damaged from our stint in non-league, but hopefully we can survive next season and consolidate. Looking forward to visiting you all again.

Hasn't really sunk in yet. 13 months ago we were playing Dover away and now we're back with Notlob, Ipswich and the rest of you glorious lot. And after visiting Boreham Wood, the open air end at Gillingham has never looked so glamorous(!) Expecting a long hard season and we'll be looking for 20th, but it's been a mad six years. As a final aside, hoping the league one section's still busy as it used to be on TFF, but have my doubts.

Sumo, Sumo, Sumo....... Hero down our way.
We were wondering what Mickey was thinking bringing him on... he hadn't played in a meaningful match in ages... but he did the job. A great fella to be around the club.

Another example of teams bouncing back from relegation to non league and coming out of it stronger than before. Bristol Rovers, Oxford, Lincoln and now Tranmere all playing in League 1 next season and Luton in the Championship after we all went through our non league hell. Of course there's a couple of examples going the other way with the likes of Wrexham failing year after year to make it back or York disappearing into the regional leagues but it should give heart to Notts County fans that they can get back on track very soon.

That defender you have looks about 45 and looks like a bar brawler and can put a few pasties away too.

McNulty was struggling to cope with League 2 when he was with Luton four years ago so I'd be amazed if he makes the step up to League 1.

I'd also be surprised to see him on the team sheet next season, as he wasn't really playing for the second half of this season. I'd imagine he'll transition into a coaching role as many could learn from his natural understanding of the game.

BRING BACK LES PARRY.
Please no. I have PTSD.

Also what’s with all this disrespectful bollocks of “enjoy Tranmere away Sunderland” ? We’ve spent 25 of last 30 years in league one or championship.

Because Sunderland are massive compared to us, and we've got used to playing the likes of Barrow and Maidenhead. Damn right I'm going to enjoy Sunderland away!

Congrats, glad to see you follow us up.

Losing Norwood will be a blow but I can't see a side managed by Mellon fighting for relegation. You should still have a healthy-ish budget for the division so I reckon you'll finish safe in mid-table next season.

Well done to you lads and really pleased for Micky Mellon. He's done well and will be warmly welcomed back at Highbury. Good to see Steve McNulty still playing, Fleetwood signed him for £17500 from Barrow god knows how many years ago, he was a terrific player, hope he's still around when we play you

Back to back promotions basically copying us & making ours seem not so impressive :mell:

Thats now 3 Rovers in League 1 next season, when was the last time that happened?

Quick question, is L2 getting worse or the NL getting better? Thats Us, Tranmere & Lincoln all coming from NL straight up to L1 in 2/3 seasons

I dont think it's either. In the national league you are everyone's cup final as I'm sure pirates and imps will agree. You have to learn how to be dogmatic, resilient and grind out wins.

Look how many times Lincoln scored in the last 5 min when they went up and us in the last 15. You learn the winning mentality down there and as long as you can strengthen you are fine .The last time barnet won that division they didn't win a game against any of the top 6 hence them quickly dropping back .

Not true, in fact the only top 6 team we didn’t beat at all that season was Grimsby Town.

Fair point, I think you're right. The amount of times we scored in NL in the last 15 minutes was insane.

It also happened in L2 as well, going 1-0 down and winning 2-1 in the last 10 minutes. I think in L2 we scored 70% of our goals in the last 10 minutes or something like that. We even carried that on for a bit in L1 too

There's a bottleneck of decent teams at the top of the national league who would compete in league 2, but obviously the two up two down limits those who have the chance to. Likewise, a fair number of poor league 2 sides who aspire to finish 22nd who would struggle if there were relegated. Hence, the national league is only getting stronger, as more money gets thrown about every year, and league two last year only the only side I was genuinely impressed by was Lincoln, who strung together one of the best 45 minutes Prenton Park has seen in recent years (despite losing 1-0!). Mansfield were also far better than us in both games, but ultimately choked. The gap between the two leagues is really not that wide, obviously expecting league one to be a much tougher ask!

I found L1 a big step up, the pace of the game is much much faster and like in most leagues strikers will punish you up here.

Last year was particularly bad though. Or rather, the top 5 were miles ahead but the bottom 10 were all shocking.

Sorry mate
That’s alright. My take on our failure to push on was that Martin Allen’s managerial style doesn’t really itself to making a team improve over the long-term to meet new challenges, some of our signings for League 2 didn’t contribute anything (some because of never-ending injury) and our chairman made some very bad decisions.
Maybe we’ll get to play each for the very first time one day...
