Nah we are on the beach, might even play the fringe players next week given that a few have been playing with injuries, Marquis for one, you will get your win and the title we’re generous like that.
I heard Coppinger is being rested for the game so your obviously taking it seriously. Plus I don’t think your players will fancy a second set of fans coming to town and taking the piss at the end. They’ll want to shut us right up, I know I would.

Copps is being rested because he can’t play two games in a row due to tendinitis, we’ve had to due to injuries and not being safe but now we are he can be rested, Rowe is out and will probably miss the start of next season, Baudry, Marquis and Houghton are all carrying hamstring injuries which aren’t worth risking now we are safe. I know we won’t want to make it easy for you I’m just not sure we are in a strong enough position to do anything about it.

Thankfully we were so efficient at whining, timewasting, diving and hoofing that we didn’t need to resort to such underhandedness as you describe, dearie.

I’m sure we will look forward to welcoming Bristol’s second team with the usual enthusiasm.
 Touche

Looking forward to it - although early days, what are the general expectations for next season?

Dirty, horrible team to watch but another local away day for us and we tend to do well at Adams Park so i'm personally quite pleased to see Wycombe promoted.

Congrats Wycombe

Well, looking at things in the cold light of day:

* We had probably the oldest forward line in the division last season. We still have the same next season, only a year older
* Thankfully we were free-scoring anyway - but had a seriously leaky defence
* Ainsworth seems to have decent contacts and a good eye for a player - and he'll have to, as we're going to need to be reliant on loans next season, I doubt we can compete financially to secure L1 quality players otherwise.

Basically anything other than going straight back down again has to be seen as a success.

I think there'll be a mini relegation league next season of the likes of us, Accy, Walsall, AFCW, whoever survives out of Oldham and Rochdale, Gillingham, whoever comes up via the playoffs unless it's Coventry, and maybe one wild card undergoing problems off the pitch (would be hilarious if it were Sunderland but I doubt it).

I don't think it's completely unrealistic to be able to be less shite than 4 of those.

We'll see - our summer signings will be crucial, both of the previous two times we came up to the third tier, we signed absolute dogshite that was barely L2 quality, let along L1. If we don't strengthen, we're dead meat, if we do, who knows.

It's strange to see fans with such little confidence after being promoted.

If you had a leaky defence this season then boy oh boy you will need to improve. That's the biggest thing we've learned from our 2 years here - since we sold Taylor to City, we can dominate the game and stats, but draw 1-1 from the oppositions only shot on target. It's a very common theme

Well the thing is, our "tactic", if you can call it that, has been to hoof up to Akinfenwa for most of the season, then he can knock it down to one of our forwards who can actually run.

And it's worked.

But it meant we've played 4-3-3, which leaves a gap in midfield in terms of shielding the defence, even though the 2 wide forwards do track back.

That's pretty much what leads to our shipping goals.

I wouldn't say I'm not confident - but realistically we won't be well resourced for the new level, and team spirit and initial momentum can dissipate pretty quickly.

Again, let's see what we do signing-wise before making predictions of next season's fortunes - but I'd be happy with 17th if you offered it to me now.

I do agree though that you can make hilarious comedy defensive gaffes at L2 level that you will get punished for at this level - L1 strikers are still limited, but are that notch sharper than you get in the basement.

Absolutely right Gassy I noted that small mistakes which last year we could get out of led to goals this. Very often a team would only have two shots on target and get two goals. The other significant difference I noted was game management, the players were much better at winding up our players, hence why we had so many sent off at the beginning of the season.

Not having a pop, but I doubt the second point will be such an issue for Wycombe, but the first will be.

Agree with all of that

We also went from 3rd best defence in L2 to the 2nd worst in L1.

I would expect L1 defenders to handle Akinfenwa with ease.

The game management point is an excellent one.

There is absolutely no doubt Wycombe can stay up.

There's also Fleetwood under Joey Barton and Blackpool if Gary Bowyer ever leaves for a Championship team like Ipswich, and as you said Sunderland. Maybe Doncaster and Bradford if their shite form carries over into next season.

oh yeah I forgot about Fleetwood and Barton, no chance of a shitshow there.

But if (when) it does go tits up, then at least they can just spend their way out of it, which isn't necessarily an option for the rest of us.

Why are other teams concerned about Wycombe's playing style? I'm not aware of many team's down here modelling themselves on Guardiola's City side.
