Delighted with the win...thought the performance was pretty good until the red and then understandably we sort of killed the game.

Pedro is definitely the signing of the summer....He just adds that little bit of class Oscar and Willian don't really have in the final third.

Not convinced by the red card....felt Rondon went down pretty easily....should have Stones by next week anyway.

Doesn't care about the season; claims a signing of the summer in August and talks about cover for an upcoming suspension. Hmm.

I'm not saying he had an awful half - I'm just saying he's wasted there, his skillset is much more suited to that wing role. I'd rather use him as a backup winger to come off the bench when you need more a more defensive setup. If I were Jose I'd be looking for a box to box midfielder to partner Matic so I could play Fabregas as the number ten in between Hazard and Pedro.

I find that Cesc is much better playing deep next to Matic where he can organize play. I honestly don't give a very bright future to the #10 in a 4231, anyway. To me, that position is outdated and shall endure a slow and painful death in the next decade. It's just too hard to exist when you're in this position. Not only do you have the opposing DM acting as your watchdog but even the holding midfielder is helping out the CBs to look over you. Play a flat 433 that way everyone comes from deep. Much hard to mark and defend.
For the record, I think this is why Özil is having shit seasons year after year.

Cesc is a liability in the deep central midfield position, he doesn't defend enough - puts a hell of a lot of pressure on Matic, which is telling already this season, and the role wastes a fair bit of his attacking prowess.

In terms of number tens in a 4231 - they do seem to be going out of fashion a bit lately but one look at Silva and his performances should tell you there is still a place in the game for them.

Don't feel too bad, it was a heavily deflected goal, and his assist was an attempted shot which Costa tapped in to stop Pedro looking terrible. An okay debut though.

Pedro was outstanding. For 21 million Chelsea have got a ridiculously good purchase. I still don't see what Willian brings to their side though other than running around a lot.

Couldn't agree more. I'm happy to see a quality player like him playing in our top league. A front three of him, Hazard and Costa with Fabregas pulling the strings when Cesc and Chelsea are at or near to their best is pretty tasty in fairness to them.
