You'll find on Saturday if you have a ticket. The view from the away terrace is dreadful.

On the upside, we're a friendly lot as a rule.

Northampton and Wycombe are pretty awful away games with grounds miles from anywhere decent.

Have always liked our visits to York. Fantastic city and pubs there, even if the ground is a bit run-down.

Scunthrope on a Tuesday comes to mind when I think of the worst.

Worst: Any away end without a roof or decent boozers nearby.

Best: The opposite of the worst.

Obviously this is more about the best ones I've had in the football league, but I've really enjoyed Burton and York. I also like Southend because the sound is great when you're in the away end. I don't do many away games, which is something I'm trying to improve on this season.

Least favourite has to have been Rotherham at the DVS. I can't imagine Crawley would have been much fun if not for the 5-1 win.

Worst is Accrington comfortably. The open terrace is (at best) patchy. The bus shelter construction down the side is downright pathetic. Plus the place is appalling. Bristol Rovers away section is also pretty awful. The city makes up for it a little though.

As for best, Sheffield United is always a fun trip, as are Norwich and most of the London trips.

Any soulless industrial estate retail park type grounds go on the list of crap away days. You know the sort, where the only choice for food or drink is some awful kid friendly chain pub. Scunthorpe, Donny, Northampton etc firmly on that list.

Best away days for me are anything a short-medium distance, doable by train and close to a town/city centre. Bradford, Halifax, Sheffield(s) and York probably my favs.

Torquay is my all time favourite away day, with honourable mentions for Plymouth and the Bristol clubs.
Brentford is the best London trip, and Sheffield is the best northern away day.

Scunthorpe is the worst by a country mile with Rotherham and Wrexham being dishonourable mentions.

Worst: Gillingham, but only because it is invariably either/and/or a night match, raining, snowing or with gale force sea winds battering us on the top half of their scaffolding monstrosity whenever we go there.
Or Oldham for obvious reasons.
Best:
For ease of access would be our incredibly sterile Sixfields.
I enjoy Pompey because it is local (for me), invariably a good home/away crowd and the away stand is a traditional covered bank (albeit seated) that allows flexibility in individual/group positioning and provides decent acoustics...

Best: Leyton Orient - decent pub for away fans very close to the ground, old traditional stadium, plus plenty of decent places to drink in London beforehand.

Worst: Gillingham - that away end has to be one of the worst in the country

Best: could be any out of Chesterfield, Burton, orient or bury, for the usual reasons, good pubs close to the ground and not in the middle of nowhere.

Worst: Northampton, Oxford (1 pub), York (toilet is an open air brick wall), or Rotherham

Should have stayed at the ramshackle old Manor. Crappy, old school ground but some good pubs round about.

Our place is nothing to shout about but it's in a great location. Colchester must be the worst.

Loved every trip to Forest.

Scunthorpe is dreadful, and that's despite it being the location of my favourite league away day.

Probably wouldn't have been acceptable for all that Premier League football we're going to play though.

Colchester is awful.

It's a shame, lucky enough to get to Layer Road in the Championship before they left there and it was brilliant but their new ground in the middle of nowhere spoils the day completely.

I think a lot of you are very mean.

Best: Gillingham's finest scaffolding end. Brilliant views and the weather is always great too

Worst: Vale. It's Port Vale. In Burslem, it's just horrid.

Happened before and Blackpool aren't doing too badly now, we can all agree.
We must have one of the best away ends, can fit huge numbers in and make a racket. Also we have numerous pubs only a few minutes walk down the road.

I know the area isn't the best but you're not coming here to see the local sights are you.

I've never been there but I'm surprised at the mention of Wrexham as a bad away day. Why so?
I think the usual suspects have been mentioned from my point of view.
Kiddy has to be mentioned as a great away trip though.

The only good thing about Wrexham, is the proximity of the railway station to the ground.

To be honest Bobbin, you didn't need to add the second sentence, although I agree with it.

I'm sure Bristol/Plymouth/Torquay are great but can't comment as I've never been.

Best in my opinion: York away,
lovely place, loads of pubs in the city centre with beer gardens out back. Nice compact ground with Bootham Cresent although noise doesn't really travel on that away terrace. Always a decent atmosphere due to edge between the fixture.

Nottingham: again like York, nice place, decent size. Nice bars and pubs on the river/canal. Two decent stadiums in Forest and County. Not overly far away from East Lancs.

London: Trips to the capital always excite. Infinite number of pubs to visit and places to wander. AFC Wimbledon away in 2014 contender for my favourite away day.

Cheltenham - lovely town. Great pubs with nice cider. Whaddon Road is a nice little ground overlooked by lovely rolling countryside. Good for a piss up!

Portsmouth - Big place, plenty of places to drink. Decent stadium.

Carlisle: Lovely scenic journey up to the city. Quite a few pubs just off the castle. Bit of a walk to the ground but it's a straight road.

Worst:

Milton Keynes. Without doubt the worst place in the UK I've ever been. Everything was so concrete and sterile and the structure of the city wasn't natural. Reminded me of Eastern Bloc style. Shite location for the ground. Shite atmosphere in the ground.. BUT the supporters bar was nice and friendly.

Coventry: Maybe we went to the wrong places but the place wasn't particularly inspiring. Found a pub and got a taxi to the Ricoh. Definition of soulless. Only went in 2013 (missed the 6-0 thank god) but the stadium was at best a third full, crowd was 10,200 with 700 away if I recall. So empty. There is a casino and a bar though which did redeem it.

Burton: surprise choice perhaps. Ground is ages from the station down one long road. Stadium is shite and the atmosphere is poor. Not rushing to go back. Didn't drink that day, probably a major factor.
