Just found a heap of old vinyl LPs from my youth in the loft - jeez what was I thinking when I bought some of them.

Stevie Wonder's Secret Life of Plants - fuck me, that's just atrocious
Yes - Fragile - seemed like a good idea at the time
A whole host of albums by Millie Jackson - which to be fair aren't too bad
Five Bridges by Nice and some philharmonic orchestra

Then there's the good stuff - all the Led Zep albums, Deep Purple's Machine Head, Split by The Groundhogs, all the early Fleetwood Mac stuff when they were a proper blues band, not the fucking awful thing they morphed into with Stevie Nicks et al.

Taste with the brilliant Rory Gallagher, and then his solo albums.

Wonder if Claret 50 still has his Glenn Miller?

got a box somewhere in the gaff with a load of vynil LP's & singles. Led Zep, Quo, an early AC/DC one (Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap I think) Free, Bad Company, Atomic Rooster, Deep Purple (my first rock album was actually Deep Purple in Rock), Skynyrd. aaaah, the memories.

My exes' mum and dad took us to Mansfield one day cos her dad needed summat from there (you wouldn't go there unless it was necessary). My woman and me went our own way and her mum and dad theirs, we agreed to meet up later. When we met up her mum had a carrier bag full of reggae 7"s that were actually from Jamaica and had been brought here by their original owner. She told me that she'd bought them for £20 from a market. The market trader told her that a Jamaican bloke had sold them to him because he'd been desperate for money. I've still got them now and given that they're all from the 70s wonder if they're worth owt.

I distrust anyone's comments on music when they refer to the band that made the frankly sublime Rumours as "a fucking awful thing".

As for calling the album itself a monstrosity and middle of the road. Middle of the road? Rumours? Give me strength.

This the kind of thing?

Probably worth quite a bit to someone.

Exactly that sort of thing. I was amazed when I saw them and couldn't wait to get home to play them. He wrote his name on some of them in marker pen. I'm seriously thinking of trying to find him and return them to him.

Well, when you've followed a band that produced Green Manalishi, Man of the World, Oh Well etc and then drop the sublime Pete Green for some caterwauling tart you may understand my angst.

I've virtually all of Fleetwood Mac's catalogue, including the material prior to Buckingham and Nicks being invited to join in the mid 70s. And regarding Rumours, I still think you're talking shit.

To be fair, there is nowt wrong with disliking Rumours. Even music almost universally acclaimed isn't for everyone. But to call it a monstrosity is ludicrous.

Don't back down with that conciliatory shit. He's on the ropes. Stand on the throat.

TBF, I'm with Dan here. Fleetwood Mac = 1970s Coldplay, surely?
I'm also with Dan, including a little bit of hate.

Half the hate comes from the band that was Fleetwood Mac disappearing; Half comes from the caterwauling; The other half comes from the over-produced monstrosity that the band morphed into.

I can listen to and enjoy a wide variety of music but they just grate.

Each to his own. Now how about...

Go your own way is a classic. My fav off Rumours. Listen, I enjoy both eras of FM, although to be absolutely honest I prefer the Peter Green years, the bluesy stuff. But to say Rumours is shit is a bit ott for me. I guess it all boils down to which was the first Mac album you got, as I can't imagine someone whose first Mac LP was Tusk will say the early Mac were better, and obviously vise versa.

First off, let's put aside that you have, I suspect deliberately, chosen one of the worst songs on Rumours, and also the most commercialised. But I'm guessing your somewhat warped logic is that someone can't like the first without thinking the second is shit?
