What would you do if your club did a Hereford?

Not outright support anyone but I'd go and watch local teams (not 'them') and probably alternate between Derby, Burton and Ilkeston - wanting them to do well. It'd probably result in me liking and enjoying football more if I'm honest.

I stopped supporting Cardiff City in wake of the rebrand. I used to do 20 games a season and was a season ticket holder who lives 120 miles away.

I watch so much more football now, and see a wide variety of different sports. It's the best thing I ever did. Supporting a football club is really, really fucking stupid.

If I didn't support one team at all then I'd be missing something. Followed local teams i've lived near in the past, regularly going to games and just don't get the same passion as I do from a Reading game. Never fully emotional, not got the same nerves, same optimism etc. Even when going to a number of games a season.

That's why following a phoenix club would be the only logical step for me. It's the only club where some history of Reading FC would be installed. The phoenix club wouldn't feel like a new club, just that the original Reading FC had been relegated an awful lot of times. If I went to follow a more local club to me, or say Reading Town, I just wouldn't have any connection to them, no history, and it would feel like I was just following their games like I have done in the past.

Let's hope it will never be a realistic scenario though..

What about Reading Town?

Had'nt even thought about them.I would still watch Ascot United.Only takes me 15 minutes to walk to their ground.Hopefully it wont come to that.Having supported Reading for 25 years i would find it difficult to support somebody else.

Do you watch Ascot United at all as it is? If so why not? I'm curious. Obviously it makes the most sense to follow your local teams, but there must be a cut-off point at the club's operating level. Like my nearest pyramid team for the past 18 years has been Halifax Town but were I to take following my local to its logical conclusion I'd be watching Sunday League as I guess most would at that extreme.

No i don't watch Ascot United as it is.Iv been once but the standard is obviously poor.The main reason being is that i know 2 or 3 of the guys who currently play for them.Plus the fact i played for their under 10s up to u18s.Hopefully the situation wont arise where Reading fc no longer exist.

Back in the really really dark days when relegation out the league all together and likely folding as a result seemed very possible, I was involved in very vague and early discussions about a Phoenix AFCB side. An AFC AFCB, if you like!

So yeah, I'd do that. The same folks would go along whether it was away at Villa Park like the other week or away at a plowed field in middle Dorset against Sturminster Newton FC. Long as there's a side in some guise and the same community around it to spend Saturday afternoon with, then it doesn't really matter.

Turns out my club is closer to liquidation. We have a reconstruction plan for the next 60 days, and I'm afraid what may happen if things don't work out. We have been bankrupt for a while now, and sadly we can't form a phoenix club because our fanbase is simply too big.
