Who were your club playing in what league the last time England won the rugby world cup.

November 22nd 2003 we were flying pretty high in division 1 (championship) we beat Sunderland at home 3-0 with goals from Dean Ashton and two from Steve Jones, Infront of 9,807 at Gresty Rd.

I'd dread to think where and what Salford would have been doing.

We lost 1-0 at Tranmere as we challenged for the play offs in League One, Ian Hume with a latish winner, I recall as the trains were a mess and was stuck on a train trying to find out how we were doing in the Rugby!

In the Nationwide Conference we lost 5-0 at Barnet, think Peter Beadle scored for them.

Our supporters team also lost 15-1 to them before the game (we weren't at full strength tbf), good times.

Losing 2-1 at Cheltenham in division 3 with our goal scored by Paul Simpson. Our 10th successive defeat. Our record was P18 W1 D2 L16.

Don't know anything about the game though, have no recollection really of any of those games. Those were the days I was at Uni in Liverpool and the internet wasn't developed to the point where you could watch highlights and chat with other fans so other than the scores there was no way to really follow your team.

Got relegated to the conference at the end of that season.

1-1 home to QPR, 10,021.

Reached the play offs, losing to a ridiculous last second, extra time goal against Brighton.

Wouldn't know without looking it up, but we were in the championship and I think Brian Robson had just taken over.

Oh and we were absolutely terrible, and were relegated that season. Hated the 10 years or so after the Premier League, truly awful times following the club.

We were winning 3-1 away at Brentford in League 1, before suffering a second relegation in a row going straight through from the Championship in 02/03 to League 2 in 04/05.
Good times.

2003-04 we won the old Southern League and were promoted to the Conference.
It was also about this time I first took a real interest in Crawley and saw the occasional game.
As for 22/11/03, we lost at home 3-2 to Dorchester Town!
As an aside, when the England Rugby team flew back to Heathrow, my daughter (18 at the time with a crush on Jonny Wilkinson) had me drive her to Heathrow at 4am to welcome them.

I was at the game and I remember it being shite. John Ward had just taken over from Bobby Gould and we were just getting that new manager bounce. The game felt a bit of a comedown from the morning's celebrations though. Like it was getting in the way of some quality drinking time...

Listened to the rugby as we travelled north to play Leigh RMI in the conference. Hilton Park was a dump but had a certain charm and the pies were excellent. The match finished 1-1.

Rochdale were in this Division (six years before promotion) and losing 4-0 at Southend, for whom Titus Bramble's even more inept brother Tes scored the first two goals.

One of the Dale team that day is still playing - Simon Grand for Chester in National League North..

Cant find who Salford were playing but they were in the north west counties league, finished 15th averaged less than 150 fans and finished below football power houses such as Squires Gate, Bacup Borough, Stone Dominoes and Fleetwood Town.

We drew 2-2 at Coventry in our 4th of 5 Championship seasons. Only just avoided relegation that year.

A 1-1 draw at Leigh RMI in front of 630 souls. James Coppinger scored for us.

One of only three NWCL First Division games played on the 22nd of November as it was FA Vase day and they'd already been knocked out.

They were beaten 2-0 at Atherton Laburnum Rovers; the 'Port Vale' to Atherton Collieries' 'Stoke City'.

We got gubbed 4-0 at Scunthorpe in a season where we finished mid-table on the back of a great end of season where a young John Ruddy made his debut and we'd appointed a vastly experienced international manager and his young protege as assistant, supposedly, what could go wrong from there.....

Leigh RMI!!! They weren't thinking about new beginnings yet or whatever it was they said when they changed their name to Leigh Genesis.

Re. the U's, I had to look it up and we heavily beaten (0-4) at Scunny. I don't remember watching us get beat by that scoreline at GP so I don't think I was at the game.

Drew 2-2 at home to York City, threw away a 2-0 lead that day. A certain Adebayo Akinfenwa came on for us in the final ten minutes, what ever happened to him.....?

A shite season which we managed to end up in the top half by February and in with a playoff shout after Martin Ling somehow managed to turnaround the mess left by Paul Brush, only for us to win 1 of our final 15 games and narrowly avoiding the drop.

I was 18, had left college and was struggling to find a full time job, after being sacked from my part time bar job for being a gobby little shite. I'd never done an away game in my life, just home games. Oh how things change...................

Home bore draw with Luton in the last season of division 2 before it became League One.

In 2007, beat Stoke 4 2 at theirs.

1991, drew 0 0 with Spurs.
