This is all assuming we go up
Keep
Skarz - Very good league 2 left back, absolutely keep, would imagine he'd fit in even better in league 1 where we'd be slightly less attacking
Wright - Very good, our captain and a good honest pro, lack of height worries me at the next level but i'd definitely keep
Dunkley - Been a revalation in the last couple of months, keep him, but also get in a new centre back to challenge him and Wright
Sercombe - Arguably our player of the season, great engine and scores goals, obvious keep
Lundstram - Been figured out a bit recently but in League 1 you'd imagine he'd get a bit more space, potential to play in the top flight
MacDonald - Slow start for us but been outstanding for a long time now, not the fastest but great tenacity and directness
O'Dowda - If we can hold on to him, he's really hit form in the last month and I think he'll be in the Championship next season
Roofe - Keep if we can, frustrating at times, but scores goals and has class that is rarely seen at this level, probably won't keep hold of him
Hylton - Inconsistent, frustrating and clumsy, but works his socks off, gets a good amount of goals and is a defenders nightmare
Unsure
Ruffles - Been really good recently, but think he's at his level, wouldn't be upset if he got an extra year though
Mullins -Very harsh as he's a great pro and a top, top League 2 centre back, but I feel we need a different option in League 1 and I feel Wright and Dunkley offer us more
Buchel/Slocombe - Buchel is better of the 2 keepers, but is out of contract and neither are good enough to be #1, get rid of one, the other can walm the bench
Taylor - Decent stiker, offers something different but I don't quite think he's up to League 1, i'd get rid and bring someone else in but again not upset if he stays
Maguire - As above, on his day he's too good for this level, others he looks sunday league, i'd keep him depending on his wages
Bowery - Scored goals, but looks pub standard most weeks, get rid for me, keep Taylor and bring one more in
Get Rid
None i'd definitely want out
There's a lot of loanees and fringe youth players I won't bother mentioning, this is just the main players in our team

Club doesn't disclose contract lengths for our players but if I had my way I'd get rid of:

Craig Woodman - Picked up recently but on the whole is terrible.
Jamie McAllister - Not bad and if we can't find better I'd keep him on as back up, but he's getting on now.
Tom McCready - Doesn't feature reguarly enough so there's no real point in him being here.
Matt Oakley - Way too old now, needs to leave but he's friends with Tis so I expect him to stay
Manny Oyeleke - Showed promise but hasn't featured since October or something so clearly not rated.
Joel Grant - Good player but hasn't shown it with us
Clinton Morrison - Good fun but with a heavy heart it's time to let him go.
Will Hoskins - Sick note. Can't see another football league club taking him on after this season.
Jamie Reid - Just don't think he is or will ever be good enough.

To my knowledge Olejnik, Moore-Taylor, Holmes, Taylor, Wheeler & Watkins are all contracted for next season. I expect Ribeiro will be on his way and Alex Nicholls is out of contract and am not sure what's going to happen there but think it's quite likely we will pick up Jayden Stockley which I'd be extremely happy with. Arron Davies and Jordan Tilson can stay as back up. Butterfield can also reamin but in his coaching capacity unless we have an injury crisis.

Which would hopefully see us have a retained list of

GK
Bobby Olejnik
Christy Pym
James Hamon

Def
Christian Ribeiro (Probably won't be here)
Troy Brown
Jordan Moore-Taylor
Jordan Tilson
Connor Riley-Lowe

Mid
David Noble
Ryan Harley
Arron Davies
Lee Holmes
Alex Byrne

Att
David Wheeler
Jake Taylor
Ollie Watkins
Matt Jay
Alex Nicholls (Possibly won't be here)

There will be another influx of youth players so hard to know how many players we'd need to sign but we should be targeting:

Another centre back
A right back if Ribeiro leaves.
Another left back to provide back up to, or compete with CRL
A tough tackling central midfielder
An athletic central midfielder
Jayden Stockley
A pacey striker (and a target man if we are unable to sign Stockley)

Chris Dunn, Sam beasant, Ryan Donaldson and Robbie Simpson have all left the club.

A big thank you to Donaldson from me, will never forget his contribution, unfortunately for whatever reason it just hasn't happened for him this season.

Dunne, spencer and coulsonbauer have been offered new deals.

Expect more to face the chop shortly.

Exactly as expected, I'd have probably kept Beasant as #2 just for consistency but it's nothing to lose any sleep over.

Muchas gracias to Donaldson for the first 18 months and that goal at Wembley, less for the last 18 months of utter garbage, but despite our falling out at Cheltenham away I can probably forgive and forget. Good luck at Gateshead.

Now for the real challenge of getting rid of the wasters on 2 year deals.

Right, this could take a while.

Under contract and that's good

GK Scott Loach
RB Elliott Hewitt
CM Stanley Aborah
CM Curtis Thompson
AM Graham Burke

Under contract and maybe have something to offer as squad players/kids but don't care if they go

LB Rhys Sharpe
CB Mawouna Amevor
CM Jordan Richards
RM Genaro Snijders
ST Colby Bishop
ST Adam Campbell

Under contract but need to be fired into the sun

CB Scot Bennett
CM Kyle de Silva
CM Rob Milsom
ST Jon Stead
ST Izale McLeod

Out of contract and maybe could do something

CB Haydn Hollis
LB Thierry Audel
CM Filip Valencic
CM Wes Atkinson

Out of contract and can join their friends in the sun (or just retire)

GK Roy Carroll
LB Blair Adams
CB Taylor McKenzie
CM Liam Noble
RM Jason Banton
CM Alan Smith
LM Will Hayhurst
ST Ronan Murray

Think that's all of them. What a fucking mess.

Update: Hollis and Audel can also head to the sun. Amevor will probably sign for Moniz at FC Eindhoven, wouldn't be surprised if Snijders/Aborah joined him.

Young Jordan Richards seems to be tearing shit up at Sligo Rovers, so he can come back.

No real surprises, a couple of them could've done a job as squad players but no complaints from me.
I've got a feeling Jabo will stay now, but again it's understandable if he chooses to head back down south.

JABO IBEHRE IS STAYING. According to the official site.

He honestly looked like he was waving his goodbyes on Saturday. Delighted with that!

Fuck knows what we're doing. The Italians will talk to people this week. Not entirely sure who is out of contract but I know Mathieu Baudry and Lloyd James are. Both were important players for us in our League One play off season and I highly doubt either will want to stay here.

I'd love Lloyd James, was pretty much always the best player on the pitch when I came to watch you relatively regularly in my East London days. Suspect he'll go back to League One, though.

He's a good League One player. Broke his leg at the start of last season then has been out for a while with ligament damage so maybe his injury record will put some people off. Would be gobsmacked if Baudry doesn't head back to League One, mind you, said the same thing about Cuthbert.

Agree with pretty much all of this. Think Maguire would be great to keep hold of. When the pressure's really been on his class has shone through.

I'd add Patrick Hoban will go back to Ireland or down to the Conference.

No huge surprises. I think I would join a lot of fans in being disappointed that Asamoah is set to leave, but given he'll turn 36 next year it will have been expected. Troy and Sweeney are two other players, liked by the fans but not first team players. Rigg has hardly featured and for his entire time with us he always had the backing of the majority of the fanbase, being a local lad made good and all, and it's disappointing that releasing him has to be called a correct decision, but it does.

Hery and Balanta are two players who featured a lot for us early on in the season but for whatever reason dropped out of contention, presumably weren't doing it in training and were clearly not in Curle's plans in the second half of the season. Pedro we took a punt on and it came to nothing. Thompson was a player Curle seemed to like and frequently gave chances to despite criticism from the fans, I actually thought he was alright, Curle seems to have taken the same view as the majority on him though.

Hanford was a reserve goalie and it's always the way with those that unless they are challenging for the number one position, they will be released.

A few weeks ago it would have been considered a surprise that Brough was to remain with the club, even though I think he has a year left on his contract. He hasn't featured much, but Curle made his opinions on Brough clear over recent weeks, he things he can still develop into a good player at Carlisle and think he has to be commended on that, too often teenagers are rushed out of the door if they fail to make a mark early on, but players develop at different rates and it's good that Curle is prepared to give him more time to work on the things that are lacking from his game, than he might give a senior player.
