It's not even close, IMO. Everyone else has been a big disappointment, bar Fred and maybe Williams.

Ben Thompson?

Embarrassed our shambles of a midfield the other night. Possibly the best player on the pitch.

Edit: Sorry, just seen your second reply.

Marcus Maddison if you're looking at stats alone but Gwion Edwards has been brilliant and Luke McGee also!

I'd go for McGee with Edwards as very close second.

Vigs by a country mile, if it wasn't for him , some of our defeats could have been double figures. Be interesting if we keep hold of him in January, as he is really our only asset

Sam Hoskins for the Cobblers. Still needs to add more goals to his game, but he seems our most attacking threat. A lot of our squad have been inconsistent though and some of the squad from last season just haven't been given the chance under page.

He's great. I think he's potentially the best of the youth that have come through. He won't develop if Harris continues to neglect our midfield, though. It is beyond baffling that one of the most skillful players we've had in my lifetime, who thrived on receiving the ball to feet from other, equally as skilled players, thinks that, as a manager, what the fans and his players want from him is backwards, route one, play-it-into-the-corners style football, but there you go.

Ash Hunter has been superb for us, but then a number of other players have really stepped up to the mark, David Ball, Amari Bell, Conor McCloughlin who is showing his international form. Throw in Kyle Dempsey on loan from Huddersfield and it all adds up to good news for Fleetwood

Tom Elliot has been an absolute revelation this season, unplayable in some games and scoring alot as well.

Our Josh Ginnelly not been playing well? Was reading an article from your way and your boss was praising him in your local rag.
Had attitude problems when he first came. Was obviously talented but his attitude kept him out the 18 until November after he worked his way back into the first team. He came into the team and was fairly good but has since picked up an injury/illness and hasn't been in the team past 3 or so matches.

Cheers for that. He is a talented lad. May have got his nose bent out of shape thinking he'd made it signing for a top flight club after barely featuring for Shrewsbury, but he has to prove himself and quite rightly had to bide his time. Good man management by your boss. Nobody is bigger than the club. Best of luck this season.

Toss up between Josh Cullen and Nicky Law,but I think Nicky just takes it.Certainly can't make a case for any of our strikers

The only player that has stood out for me this season is Nicky Law, absolutely ran your side at the CG.

I haven't been to many games mind you.

Our midfield 3 of Duffy, Coutts and Fleck have been really impressive, playing some nice keep possession passing. Probably the best midfield we've had for years.

Our best player so far has been Mark Duffy.
Normally a tricky winger but he has a free role coming inside and playing as a central midfielder.
And our full back is overlapping and playing more as the winger.

Never realised Duffy was that good, he's 30 ish and played all his career in the non league and lower leagues.
Intelligent on the ball, very comfortable in possession, good accurate passer and a good dribbler.
He's the player that has real quality and makes things happen for us.

It's ironic that after 4 matches our fans early assessment of Duffy was very underwhelming with some saying he's not good enough and a poor signing.

Remie Streete for us, he's gone from in and out defender to first name on the team sheet. Still young and getting better all the time.

Absolutely agree with you there mate. He's been fantastic thus far. Neutrals and quite a number of Vale supporters will automatically look at the goals against column, and be confused as to how he can be as good as he's made out when we concede so many, but I feel he's let down a lot of the time. As are Nathan Smith and Jak Alnwick, who both deserve very honourable mentions as they have both been superb on the whole this season, especially the latter.

Our main issue seems to be the lack of support the midfield is giving the defence. Aimless balls constantly being intercepted, dallying on the ball for far too long in the centre of the field (yes, that's you Granty), and generally allowing the opposition to consistently break away in numbers. Not to mention I think we are very average in the full back positions. Neither side carries much pace, if any, and both sides tend to suffer from a defensive point of view when attackers run at them and pressurise them, but they're pretty good in an attacking sense. I just feel we need younger, more physical and quicker full backs in this league to nullify that pace. We concede far too many goals off set pieces and crosses into the box, and have done for quite a while so heaven knows why it still hasn't been addressed.

Bruno didn't help things with his god awful zonal marking obsession which cost us a number of goals, and ultimately, points, in recent games. Hopefully, we see that scrapped and we resort to man-marking on set pieces to give us half a chance at dealing with those deliveries into the box instead of the opposition having a free man in the box every time.

How has Ben Davies looked in his first couple of games? been playing as part as a back three hasn't he?

Luke McGee on loan from Spurs, the best keeper i've seen down here in a long time. Tafazolli has also been excellent at centre half.

Jak Alnwick.

Best goalkeeper in League One. Hands down.

"My team has the best goalkeeper" is right next to "the league is shit this year" as my favourite trope in lower league football.

Pretty sure Maguire ended his career anyway:

Yeah, Maguire destroyed Ben Alnwick so badly it also somehow managed to destroy his brother, Jak that plays for Port Vale.

Agree with Mr Tinpot's point about the best gk chat.

However he has made himself look like a right bit of cheese muddling up the Famous Alnwick kids!

it's a pointless argument Andy. You'll probably hear a dozen fans of league 1 clubs putting forward a case for their keeper being the best in the league.

Vigoroux has been the best keeper I've seen this season but that's because he's always got so much to do playing behind our team of half wits!

There was a statistic i saw last week about the 3 keepers who had made the most saves this season and they were alnwick at vale ripley at oldham and etheridge at walsall. You can guarantee when they do the team of the season though they pick the shef utd or bolton keeper due to them getting promoted.
