Well it is getting interesting up at the top 8 teams for 7 places....And now i think the top 3 is settled
The fact that both FGR and Tranmere will not be involved in automatic promotion is not that they are not good enough....its simply that they have a bad injury list with key players now out for the season

1st Cambridge
2nd Cheltenham
3rd Bolton
.................................................................
4 Morecambe
5 Tranmere
6 FGR
7 Exeter/Newport

Our next two are Morecambe at home and Tranmere away. If we come out of those with four points I think we’ll definitely be promoted. If we come out of it with two draws then it’s still in our hands. A defeat in either I reckon puts us back out of it. Big Easter weekend ahead.

Personally think it will be Cambridge Tranmere and hopefully us now top 3. Cambridge and Tranmere seem to find a way to get results like we have. Still a way to go though and injuries could play a massive role. Tranmere against Cheltenham and Cambridge next 2 will have a huge impact on it all.

Sounds like Tranmere may have to rely on a veteran keeper now too. Early suggestions their 1st choice may miss the rest of the season.

Jeez he’s even older than ours. Although I think Gilks organising our defence is one of the reasons we have been so good at the back. He doesn’t shut up. Age doesn’t matter as much for a gk to be fair. Quite a few gks have still been decent at nearly 40. I don’t know how good their first choice GK is either?

Think Tranmere do grind results out but they have Agent Hill and Captain Crawford who will do the right thing.
In all seriousness they are missing Vaughan any team in this league would....plus the keeper got carried off today

Corey Blackett Taylor was the best player in the league according to Tranmere fans on here
He must be number 91 on Hills Bingo Balls

Turbs out he is as much of a knobhead as superstar Maddison.

The keeper situation is not an issue for us, as Murphy is as good as Davies and has been quite unlucky not to start games this season.

The absence of Vaughan is a major issue, but he might be back for the final games of the season. Even if he only plays another four or five matches, he could be the difference for us.

I think Bolton will be promoted, but other than that I find it impossible to call the top three. I did think Cambridge would slip out of the picture a couple of weeks ago, but if anything they look the most resilient of the other sides involved now.

As I said on the matchday thread, thinking Bolton and Cambridge for the automatics now. Unsure who’ll
get the last place, but the side just missing out often struggle in the play-offs.

It’s still all to play for but from our point of view the next 2 games will decide it. I’m actually quite happy we’ve got Cheltenham and Cambridge next as we seem to do better against the better sides which was proven in the EFL Trophy as well. Losing Davies is a bit of a blow but to be honest, Murphy has been excellent every time he’s played so no concerns there. We need Vaughan back quickly.

I think Bolton and now Cambridge will occupy two of the 3 spots as others have mentioned. Cambridge’s resilience has to be admired and that’s 4 points in the last couple of weeks they’ve taken in stoppage time. Could quite possibly be that the fact they got a lot of games in early doors is helping them in the run in and they’re a lot fresher than others. The last spot is anyone’s guess really.

What I would say if we do drop into the playoffs, whilst we’ve drawn a lot recently against the likes of Grimsby, Colchester and Mansfield, we haven’t lost. We’re a very tough team to beat and that can hold you steady in the playoffs if it comes down to that.

Yeah I saw that mentioned. He's also made a few appearances so should at least be match sharp.

Has Nugent been underwhelming? Thought he'd potentially be another who looks a level above the division.

Lots seem to be writing Cheltenham off ? ok they lost yesterday but to the most under rated team in the mix Morecombe they just wont be shifted so far, If Cheltenham beat Tranmere then they are away at Grimsby on the Monday, so for me i am not writing any one off the league table shows who ever holds there nerve will go up.

I am very happy at this stage to follow Ian Evatt on one game at a time keep winning your own fixtures and it's promotion guarenteed, The head to head matches over Easter throws up some loss of points but by who is a very difficult question.

So far sadly yes. He hadn't much match action in a long time and suspect was brought in more for cover and cameos off the bench, but then Vaughan got injured... There have been a number of decent balls into the box, you'd expect a striker to go after, but either he's been elsewhere or not attacked the ball.

For me Cambridge, Bolton and Cheltenham would be my top 3 based on what I've seen, that being said Tranmere and Morecambe looked good against us too. Should be a good fight between those 5.

I'd definitely take top 7 right now for us, if Newport and Exeter win their games in hand we'll only be 3 points clear of 8th with a depleted squad and without a recognised goalscorer.

I must be drunk. Carlisle, league winners 20/21 are below... Stevenage! Favourites for relegation mid season..

How on earth has this happened.

Away to Grimsby fighting for their lives? Might look easy on paper but they have picked up and these are banana skin games for teams under huge pressure to win. You only have to look at the games for FGR, Tranmere and Cheltenham all dropping points in their games in hand.

I’m hoping for a draw between them on Friday.

Yes, if we were to win one of the two games over Easter, it would probably be preferable to beat Cheltenham the way things stand.

How on earth has this happened.

We had Covid unfortunately, so we may have to wait until next season now but trust me, we are the true best team in this division and had we not been so unlucky I'm sure that a double promotion would have been on for us because we were the only team good enough to hold their own in L1 next season and even go a step further into the Championship.

Any of the other sides who go up are guaranteed to come back down, especially the one who accommodate their whole team around a 38 year old who when probably retires in the summer will result in that team getting hammered 6-0 week in and week out if they luck their way up into L1 this season..

I prefer it this way to be honest.

Teams writing us off is a good thing, I don't care what everyone else thinks.

Hahahahah what a troll. I mean I like Carlisle but ‘only team good enough to hold their own in league 1’ and maybe championship. Can’t even hold your own in league 2 atm. You battered us at your place when we were shit before we changed shape and the business in January - still not sure how we got a point but on current form no chance. Several teams have way better squads in this league after January including us.

Even Salford beat Pompey who are in league 1 playoffs. And Salford are probably not even getting playoffs now.

It’s going to be close whatever happens. Only being written off because of a few losses recently. It really is anyones in that top 8

Win 1 lose 1 at the moment for us. I'll take the win over Tranmere, but concerned about following that up with a defeat at Grimsby.

We have Morecambe at home, Tranmere away and Exeter at home but the one that worries me the most is Stevenage at home.

Couple of draws or a win is a minimum requirement for us over Easter.
4 points would be brilliant.

I just don't get this Bolton/Tranmere thing?

Is it some kind of ManU/Liverpool rivalry, but for minnows?

Think it’s mainly been handbags after we lost the playoffs to them 30 years ago. Then Aldridge made it worse. And there were a series of childish stunts between the managers. Think we didn’t get any hot water at theirs in the changing rooms (may have been more than that) and when they had Dave challinor we moved all our advertising hoardings right onto the touch line to stop his 60 plus yard throw ins. I personally don’t have a problem with Tranmere. Maybe someone else can fill me in if there is something I’m missing. Anything early 90s and before is a bit before my time.
