Maybe Dulwich Hamlet would be a good candidate. Gates of 3k in the ryman premier, in one of the most heavily populated areas in the country. They're a bit weird, but a decent bunch for that, but definitely have the makings of a league club. Only thing in their way, is 3 promotions. Sounds like a big hill to climb, but we managed 3 in 4 years, and are about to make that 4 in 6, so really not too much of a stretch of the imagination to see them follow us to the football league.
I'd just love Dulwich to get this far, they'd be a great addition to the Conference.

Honestly, I've spent the last month fantasising about a situation where Margate beat 'Ricay to the Isthmian title and then Dulwich finally win a playoff final. Would love to see Dulwich get this high up.

Seriously, that's some climb up the football pyramid. Very impressive!!!
I watched us at that level and it was pretty much park football, i saw us play on roped off park & school pitches....the FA really did a number on us making us drop all that way far down.

Would never happen nowadays!!

Billericay's as you see look very disappointing, it's a good job they are bankrolled :£

No it would definitely not happen as you say nowadays, but as those gloomy and sad times for us loyal football fans are put behind us. We can move on to better days and hopefully our clubs will reach their goal, well with a bit of luck of course and fingers crossed in achieving our dream of league football.
Sooner rather than later!

Half the fan base is graduates and hipsters on days out. Don't begrudge them that, but what happens when they have a poor season?

These people won't hang around when the entry prices eventually go up.

They might make it to National level, but can't see it going further.

I don't think you're giving them quite enough credit there, they've done a terrific job engaging the community in recent years. We were worried about our gates when the prices shot up upon promotion to the Conference, and they went up rather than down.

Aye, success breeds support*; just look at Lincoln and the explosion in their piddling crowds.

*Orient are the exception that proves the rule, as we attract more and more fans the worse we get.

Could genuinely be us.

Can see two ex-league clubs (Tranmere +1) getting promoted this season, and think we'll make play offs giving us a platform to go one better next season.

Flid or billericay, south shields might eventually but not next. They'll have to go through Connie north first....
But if we ignore these shambles and the afc jokers, then Sutton are about best placed.... But nigh on impossible for anon bankrolled traditional non league outfit to do it. We even had to avoid paying tax. Alty are another two perhaps deserve a go as like us, they were great in the closed shop erase of the old pals act. But now they're way down

Problem is when segregation kicks in, prices increase and people can't drink on the terraces, thus stifling the carnival like atmosphere at Champion Hill. I'm not sure those regulations being enforced on Dulwich would see people turn up in the numbers they are now.

There is an argument we got off lightly. Club sells its ground and spends the money on players and doing up another club's ground, who they take over then sell their ground, with a planning application on greenbelt land that was never ever going to be passed. Two dead clubs and two lost grounds. I would have jailed those responsible.

Dulwich are a good bunch, but are pinning their hopes on property developers whose motives are far from clear. Will such people really build them a FL standard ground, or even NL? That's supposing the council even give permission. I will be happy to be proved wrong, but suspect five years from now it will have been the old old story.

Speaking of South Shields they had a special guest training with them last night, former 36-year-old Newcastle United striker Lomana LuaLua!

A Mariners spokesman said it was a pleasure to welcome him along as he trains to regain his fitness after completing a spell in Turkey.
I would imagine their fans will be hoping he is spearheading their attack when the new season kicks off.

Can he still do backflips?

Well Jim Thompson was no longer named after the trophy that was given to the winners of the FA Trophy holder vs Conference Title holder match that used to be played. That served him!

So, a list of bankrolled clubs...

Fylde
Boreham Wood
Dover
Eastleigh
Barrow
Ebbsfleet.

Any others to add?
Shaw Lane (not 100% on spelling have a few pennys to rub together) 2 leagues below our league I think
Salford

Shaw Lane wouldn't be allowed in the Football League with their ground.

I noticed that last season.
Despite your side being completely beyond hope your home crowds remained quite healthy.

Dulwich bottle too many play offs, they'd have to win 3 league championships so maybe some time off until they can get in to the FL. Plus they'd probably have to leave Championship Hill, I don't think it has the space to be upgraded to FL status.
