More than a bit worried the answer is yes. It was hard to come on here after Notts defeat. This could be worse.

We never fare that well at Luton for whatever reason, and apart from the 3-2 win on our way to the conference the season before you, wins have been scarce.

We have set ourselves up well, and Murray has learnt a lot since the harsh 3-0 reverse in the corresponding fixture (much still to learn, however).

I'd imagine we would set up as a 451 with hopefully Clements and Nathan Thomas getting in promising positions - what's encouraging this season is that our midfield has proven it can score also. After last seasons abysmal total of 33 league goals, to have scored in 6 out of the 7 is good news.

Luton - well, not a great start, surprised you lost at county - we won with complete ease - and you've had a lot of bad luck with late goals, so maybe it will turn for you. Am going to go for a 2-1 home win

Not sure he can be much worse than Cuthbert was on Saturday tbf.

We did all have a big laugh despite the tension at Luton bringing McNulty on purely to be part of the wall for the free-kick. Every team should have a fat bloke they bring on just to be in the wall for free-kicks if you ask me.

you've had a lot of bad luck with late goals,

It's not bad luck when it happens so often. It's a sure sign of a mentally fragile team, which is very concerning as the team's mentality was always our greatest strength under Still until this calendar year.

This. Cuthbert was absolutely shocking for the entire 90 minutes, the sending off was a fitting end to his game. Bizarre as Cuthbert has looked very solid until then, but he really was truly awful.

McNulty's been good whenever I've seen him this season (I wasn't at the Yeovil game when he had to be hooked at half time to be fair). He's an easy target because of his size, but I'd much rather have him in the team than Luke Wilkinson, who is consistently the weakest link in our defence IMHO.

If he'd gone on the far end of the wall like he was supposed to instead of plonking himself in the middle of it he might actually have blocked the shot!

We've not really looked like conceding this season only the odd mistake has led to a goal so if we stay solid at the back we should get at least a point.

If the attacking options click into place again like last week then we are a serious threat and could beat anyone in this league. 4-0 last week could easily of been 7 or 8.

A point would be good but theres no reason we can't go here and get the win. Consistency is the next step for us. Should be a cracking game.

Do you think Wilkinson has been any worse than Griffiths or even O'donnel?

Not saying Wilko has been good by any means because he hasn't but i have been hugely unimpressed by O'donnel. He can't defend and can't really attack either and allows a steady stream of crosses into our box. If I were picking out a weak link it would be him over Wilkinson

Up to McNulty to take his chance on Saturday. If he can put a good performance in, the position is his again.
Can't help thinking that when he's had lay offs in the past, his fitness has suffered significantly and takes his time to get back to his best.

Is this like the Fa Cup final or something? Why are there two separate threads for this one? Yes yes I know there are several Staggies and Hatters on this forum but still.

I worded it badly but I wasn't really considering the full backs in my statement, just the central defenders. I agree that Griff and O'Donnell especially have looked very shaky.

The whole team has been fairly rubbish all season. Odd player has had the odd good game but as a unit we have not been good enough so let's stop singling people out.

We absolutely must win on Saturday.

That's what worries me, just have a feeling it will click for you on Saturday.

Could go two ways really, you'll play well or rubbish and the fans can be very hostile down there getting on Still's back just like you lot did in our 3-2 victory when Buckle was in charge.

If you're shit and really need to win we have been the kind of side to gift wrap 3points and hand them to you on a plate for years.

Where's good for away fans to drink?

RefWatch; Ref for Hatters v Stags game is Rob Lewis, from Shrewsbury. FL ref for 10 years on & off - had injury. Reffed Luton 4 times, 3 losses (including York play off semi, the nasty one) & one draw - most recent game was 2-3 defeat by Grecians last season. Reffed Mansfield once - 2-1 away defeat by Pilgrims last season. Was the lino for the Man U game when Carroll dropped the ball 2 yards over the line but the goal wasn't given. Bantams reported him for swearing at a player - no action taken. In 19 L2 games last season he gave 19Y & 2R - average.

You might as well have beaten a different team tbh, only four players started both games for us. One of them the keeper.

Having seen both teams, Luton played nicer football and probably looked more threatening going forwards, but Mansfield's defence was very good and theirs was diabolical.

Our defence has looked good so far, to have scored as many and conceded as few as we have in 7 games is an unknown quantity for a Mansfield fan in the league - yes, running up 22 goals in 4 games against sides like Barrow in the conference was a different kettle of fish. It's usually been the other way round since we came back up, and (especially under Cox) we've downplayed ourselves too much.

As numerous stags fans have said, either in person or on here, we've Luton away, Plymouth at home and Stevenage away on a tuesday night which will take us upto 10 games - one way or another we'll have a fairer reflection on our ability after that

Anywhere outside of Luton I presume.

Yes, Luton away isn't one to look out for when the fixtures come out. Mind, I dare say Mansfield isn't, either.

Mansfield Town have recalled midfielder Joe Fitzpatrick from his loan spell at Sutton Coldfield.

The Stags have called back the 18-year-old after a virus struck the Stags’ camp yesterday, affecting ‘a number of players’, boss Adam Murray has said.

Could be a factor in the result tomorrow.

Bit of a worry that news with our small squad, not feeling very positive about tomorrow.
