Imagine being on holiday and flying back to Luton, how fucking grim would that be?

Well Matt Green was certainly trying to grab and pull them down, but Macca had plenty on underneath in preparedness.

If Izale McLeod from last week was in Green's position a few times, he would've been starkers.

Bloody Luton,

Should have got something from that, especially how we were in the second half.

A game we would have got battered in last season (which we did), we were the better side for good periods of the game.

On the upside, we don't have to go to that godawful shithole for another season

Some level headed and honest comments post match from the Luton fans.

I didn't go but listened to the game on the radio. Mick Saxby was one of the co-commentators. Although he was before my time any Luton fans remember him?

It sounded like we gave Luton too much respect and put ourselves under pressure by aimlessly hoofing the ball forward in the first half. I got the impression we only got playing once Luton scored their goal. Incidentally, our commentary team thought Tafazolli should have been red carded instead of getting a yellow for the pen.

Yeah, it seemed that way.

I think Murray is guilty of that too often, looking at the starting 11 we are more than capable of beating Luton - doesn't mean we will do so as today proved, but we should be going with a positive mindset.

Luton have obviously had a poor start to the season and today was always going to be difficult - frustrating we couldn't build on our start but 12 points from 8 games is a great start.

Id expect Luton to push on and be top 7, whereas I think midtable would be a fair result for us

Mansfield were a horrible side in our Conference years, and they still are. No interest in winning, or even playing much football, time wasting, falling over, etc., until we scored and did our usual trick over sitting deep, conceding midfield and inviting pressure. Luckily Mansfield were poor, and Tyler was excellent because those tactics don't deserve to end in a win.

Six Foot Two, Eyes of blue, Big Mike Saxby's after you la la la laaa la la................My little poke on the pain was just aimed towards Adam as he's such a serial Luton hater and even in defeat got a dig in - not on the game or at all Stags, unless you were on the old Conf message board back in the dark days when we we were mortal enemies out of driven necessity. Sounded pretty even on the radio with perhaps more chances for you lot than us. Def take the win though as we were desperate for it.

Our commentary team expected a red for the pen too. Mitigating circumstance CMS had gone slightly wide but yet to see highlights.

Also they were certain Green should have gone for elbowing Wilko twice in succession in first half and later commented that the half time chatter among journos from both sides thought same - not sure if that included your commentary team. One of our lads at the game - in this thread or other thought not - so perhaps a grey area and our commentary team try to be fair but are seriously biased..

He hadn't gone wide at all. That was as stone wall red card as you will ever see in your life.

I think it was a red. If any side deserved it then it was Luton. CMS disallowed goal was the best I've seen live since Beckham v Greece. We seem to always revert to a long ball forward and it's frustrating as fuck to watch.

Not having that we go down to easy though when you've got that number 8 in your side.

Red card for the diving bell end. Sorry but no amount of shirt pulling (being pulled backwards) can cause a players legs to come together and then flop forwards on the floor, if you get pulled backwards you fall back not clip your feet together and jump forward. its a very clever dive thats conned everyone, he's felt a slight shirt pull and dived, nothing more to it, a good ref would of sent him of for simulation.

Luton were better for majority of the game but didnt do much, and we deserved a point at best. New team thats not found consistency yet, but we have massively improved from last year, time to take some chances were creating, especially away and continue to dominate and keep the ball at home. On to the next one.

We only let Mansfield back in the game because we insist on defending on our 18 yard box whenever we go 1-0 up.

Westcarr and Green had great chances which you've got to take at Kenilworth Road

Having looked at the highlights it looks like we could have had something but as you say those chances have to be put in to the back of the net at the Kenny.

Just watched the extended highlights and we were mightily unlucky to lose the game, a draw would have been more than fair. Luton only had one shot on goal from open play and capitalised on our only defensive cock-up and won a soft penalty, I can definitely see why it wasn't a red. That being said we had more than ample chances to take the lead/draw level and even win the game but we fluffed them so can have no complaints.
